Solid ride, enough power and great cargo room! Awsome off road in mudd and snow with 4 wheel and traction control, etc.
Weakness:
Minor problems, but none that stranded me. A lot can go wrong. if buying used get a warrenty for peace of mind (been lucky so far with no big problems) Awsome truck!! Found low milage in excelent condition, but bought a warrenty from The Waranty Experts in AZ. Pleasure to drive, but needed an upgrade in headlights (put in high watt blue halogens with a conversion kit). Similar Products Used: Infiniti QX4 |

Power, shifts to 4th at just the right time to pass people up on the highway. Uncomparable offroading ablities. Looks
Weakness:
ABS brake warning lights are always lit when there is nothing wrong with them... I''ve had them checked multiple times and the mechanics always say they are just fine. Must be one of the early flaws? My Range Rover is an awesome piece of work. The interior is extremely well kept and I got a great deal on this. Similar Products Used: Ford Explorer, Nissan Xterra |

off road and snow it is simply great. ride is very good for a truck. interior is tastefully luxurious. low gear is very easy to get into with h-shifter.
Weakness:
leaks water (and oil... first engine was replaced under warranty). too slow. engine is too old tech at this price level. gas mileage. corporate guys are jerks... don;t car about fixing my problem at all. love the vehicle for, snow, comfort, style and the occasional off road jaunt. but for this price i expect those things. i have had an awful problem with water leaks (you would thing in rainy england they would get this right!). deal cannot fix or find the leak. landrover corporate guys will not help me with my financial loss even if i trade it in on a new range rover. dealer will only keep trying to fix the leak. first leak was coming in from the roof.... apparently was fixed after four trips to the deal, but now it's coming in on driver side floor. do not have confidence to take the family on a trip... who knows it might rain. Range Rover
Strength:
True unmatched off road capability, except for maybe the Humvee. That's where the Range picks up where the Humvee falls. The interior on the Linley version Range Rover I special ordered is so plush that it parallels that of a Five Star Hotel, or a Five acre estate in Malibu. That maybe going a bit overboard, but the interior is so well thought out and clean that even the next generation will be only slightly differed but very miniscule. The power is superb with the new engine modifications, intake, and everything else that BMW added to it. It just made it better. A special supercharger was also added as an option, with computer upgrade which brought the horsepower and torque up quite substantially to 350 HP with 435 lbs torque. And with that, it hauls like a ferrari or porsche. Of course in terms of SUV like manner. It's a go anywhere, do anything, vehicle with so many can do's, can not's are only limited by your imagination. So many options, both dealer and aftermarket availible. If you think my Linley Rover is quick, my friend has a Rhino edition in Beverly Hills that has 450HP with a torque rating of 575lbs. Pretty impressive to say the least.
Weakness:
Too bad Humvee's can't be laced with as much or even more power to match with the Range. Weaknesses, well if you don't have too much or don't want to throw down too much cash then this car or even the hummer isn't for you, realistically. Fuel economy, but most luxury vehicles, like ferrari, aren't made or bought for economical means. There made to be driven, both off and on road. Other than a few things, not much in the weak dept. A great edition for Land Rover to produce special editions of this vehicle. It shows their craft in doing things out of the ordinary. They are true maverick's in their plight. With the exception of the Humvee's off road capabilities, the Rover just has it all in terms of interior needs, and all kinds of things you can add with dealer and aftermarket options. The vehicle is great to drive, and there's something about driving one that makes you feel almost arrogant. But that's beside the point. The product is indeed a mastery in and of itself. Unique in character, distinct styling, unlike all the other cookie cutter SUV's out there. Sheer prestige, panache, whatever you call it, that gains a certain type of respect as you valet the vehicle. Similar Products Used: Tried the rest, but feel this is still the best!!!. The humvee is not bad, but that's if you really go off road and forge deep rivers and ccale boundless cliffs. But if this is your only vehicle back and forth, daily driver in and out, then this the Humvee is not the way to go. I have a friend who regrets getting something that still isn't civilized even after it's introduction to society in ninety two. Get the Range, it's by far a better vehicle for almost everyone's needs, with civility, off and on road, and livability. |

Range Rover
Strength:
The comfort in the cabin is all original, and the creature features are packed galore. The vehicle handles great, both off and on the road. The looks you get while crossing, passing, other drivers with SUV's on the road. The dealer makes sure that your regular service scheduled is kept up. The ride is just great and sturdy construction is all throughout the vehicle. New engine management system, transmission, is a lot smoother than previous years. The low end torque is great for passing, both off and on ramp, especially in off roading adventures.
Weakness:
Not much to say the least, other than not many Hummers cruising the highway or boulevard so you can hang with or share the road. The handling is superb both off and on road, while maintaining a serious aptitude for off road prowess. It stays original, not wanting to be more carlike as the rest of the pack, which it shouldn't. If it did, it would lose it's edge. Does the Hummer, conform, naw, it just wouldn't be or feel the same. Driving in rain, snow, mud, sand is a breeze just so long as you forge these elements not exceeding the twenty inch level. Similar Products Used: Next Generation Rangie will definitely set a whole new standard for the market, aside from GMC launching the H2 around the same time. Only real difference for the next Rangie is the Beemer engine, like in the X5, but the whole luxury biz is dialed up a couple of notches or so. |

Prestige, Power, Prowess off road, with an availible option of an M90 Eaton Supercharger, this Range can really fly. Great interior design, original in character, Form does really have it's function, not a lot of extra body cladding which is good for both off and on road, unlike other cookie cutter SUV's
Weakness:
Gas consumption, nothing new, not much else than that. Maintenance, is a must but then again, what other vehicle doesn't require maintenance A fantastic experience to own off and on road. It's not just a ride, it's a lifestyle that makes you feel good about owning something like the Range. Land Rovers just have that appeal, and It's great. The uniqueness of it all and the style is just unmatched by other vehicles. Humvee's aren't too bad but they don't offer enough luxury options with or without to validate it's demanding price. They have to do a lot better than what it is now. Off road it's out there, but the Humvee, just stops right there with no real tangible value other than off road, it only seats four and it's a tight fit at that. Truly a waste of dollars. The LX470 gives the Range good competition to get better, but it looks too much like a Land Cruiser to even be that more different than it's twin. It's easy to mistake the two and vice versa. If you do plan to own any of these vehicles , than may I suggest an alternate vehicle, because most of them time, people who buy these kinds of vehicles have as many as five cars or more. We have around ten cars to say the least and we alternate all of them so it's spread out. They vary in years, but they're great. All kinds and all different. Similar Products Used: None |

Lets put it this way: The only factory option you can get for this car is the GPS. *EVERYTHING* else is standard. Unstoppable 4x4 coupled with great road handeling, and enough bells and whistles to keep you exploring to find new ones (I just discovered that there are lights on the underside of the doors so you don't accidentially step in puddles).
Weakness:
Cost. New, or certified used these cars are *stupid-expensive* I used a boutique to find the best deal for the $$$ (highly recomend the bear valley folks too). What can I say... I love this truck. Similar Products Used: This car is incomprable. If you want an SUV that looks like a car, and drives like a car buy the BMW X5. On the other hand if you want an SUV that embodies everything you could want in a truck look no further. |

Strength:
Unbeatable off-road capability, unrivaled luxury, great ride and driver position, easy to work on by yourself if you are handy, great attitude & snob appeal (come on...you know that has something to do with it!).
Weakness:
You have to watch carefully when buying a used RR and check for rust around doors, under hood, behind tailgate etc. - If you find a really clean one as I did, they are stout, unbeatable SUV's. Look for and demand one that has ALL service records and services carried out according to the manual - mechanically pretty hearty if this is done - I've restord british cars and own two MG's and just like the two of them, the RR's need to have fluids checked consistently, and just need to be looked after with a "british" sense of detail and an eye for potential rust (the brits never got a handle on rustproofing on ANY of their cars!). Outstanding - I prefer the Range Rover Classic body style more than the new 4.0 or 4.6 SE's and frankly I haven't heard as many good things abouth the newer models other than interior ammenities & body style. You have nothing to fear in buying an older RR if you know what to look for and are smart about it (and don't listen to your heart). The LWB's are more rare as they were made for only 3 years, they have the extra 8 inches in the back seat for a limousine type ride, and are just great cars...They are also very affordable as they haven't held their value very well. I don't think it is a reflection of the car, as much as an advantage to those who want the best but don't want to spend $70-$80 grand for it. Similar Products Used: Isuzu Trooper - Can't say anything bad about this one either - our trooper has done everything from move our entire house to go off-roading with some respectability. The luxury factor is of course much higher and off-road prowess somewhat better in the RR because of the RR's low center of gravity, but a trooper is a great bet if looking for something more user friendly with less need for service checks and need to be more $$ friendly. |

Strength:
Low center of gravity, designed to drive all day long at a 33 degree angle without rolling over, superiour suspension design gives offroad flexibility and the most comfortable ride you have ever experienced, aluminum body won't rust, sophisticated 4x4 system keeps you out of trouble without you even realizing it, electronically heated windshield defroster is great, all the luxury gadgets you only find on the best sedans. You can drive and controll a Range Rover at highway speeds in the worst conditions. I drove mine 180 miles in a Blizzard and didn't have a single bit of driving trouble. Range Rover's ride better than a Cadillac yet command a presence on the highway that is challenged only by an 18 wheeler. The technology packed into the RR allows it to keep it's passengers save at all times and in all conditions.
Weakness:
Parts can be expensive, but I challenge you to find a high end vehicle that is cheap to fix! First, you must understand my perspective. I purchased a Range Rover to protect my family! A year ago we were coming home from little league baseball game in our Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited when a person driving a Ford Taurus didn't stop at a red light and hit us. The entire front end of our Jeep was ripped of when the Taurus hit us. The Jeep's unibody structure twisted and buckled from the impact. The passenger side seat (impact was on the driver side) broke loose from the frame. My oldest boy was seat belted into that seat. He received internal injuries because the seatbelt, which is mounted to the body of the Jeep did not move when the seat broke loose and squished him between the seat and the seat belt. (Because of the seat and seatbelt design of the Range Rover, this will not happen) Two of my family still are recovering from injuries sustained from that accident. My wife is a Cardiac Cat RN. To date she has not been able to return to work because of injuries she sustained in the accident. She was driving our Jeep when the accident happened. I studied crash test results, I reviewed performance comparisons, I studied how various components of the major SUV's were manufactured and designed. I then determined that my family would be the safest in a Range Rover should they ever be in an accident the same or worse than the one we were in a year ago. After driving our Range Rover 4.0 SE for about a year I assure you it is worth every dollar that you pay to purchase it, service it, maintain it, insure it, and fill it with fuel. When you rate something for VALUE, you need to ask more than how much does it cost and what is the EPA rating! Similar Products Used: I currently own a Mercedes S class and a Porsche. I have owned 7 Cadillacs. Before the Range Rover I owned a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, a Subaru 4X4 and a customized Dodge 4x4 shortbox pickup. None of those vehicles compare to the Range Rover. Driving a Mercedes ML320 feels like a minivan compared to a Range Rover! There is absolutely nothing that drives, rides and performs in a blizzard or on bad roads than a Range Rover 4.0 SE! |

Weakness:
Fuel consumption , Cheap interior plastic makes noise on off road (the worst thing for Range Rover),does not have sportive performance..Very expensive parts and accesoires... This is the most comfortable vehicle in the world...You can not compare a Range Rover with others because it is another class. I think not a SUV..May be Toyota Land Cruiser and Lincoln Navigator is same category..But be sure they are not..Toyota's interior is boring and dull and it is not prestigious like Range Rover. And Lincoln Nav. does not deserve that money with its quality..(and it is very ugly from the rear look) Similar Products Used: Jeep Grand Cherokee,Chevrolet Blazer ,Chevrolet Tahoe |
