Drag Drag Drag
One word...drag drag drag... I know I said it 3x's but really, I have to say that this SUV, even though I do like everything else about it, it has so much hesitation uphill and sometimes NOT uphill, that I am about to trade it in. I have a 5 speed 4 cyl. engine. My last 3 vehicles have all been 4cyl. manual trans. and I have never had the problems with power I am experiencing here. I have had the car for 2 years. It's been in the garage for this issue almost a dozen times. About a year into it, I started having major problems with it. I could put the pedal to the metal and it would drag...like trying to pull a pony uphill in a snow storm....

great on hills,smooth ride

poor on gas mileage, poor visibility. I love my Jeep liberty. however, the blind-side is horrible, and the mirrors, and the gas mileage sucks. there's a recall on the ball joints, but I'm getting that done a a chrysler jeep dealer next friday. I just purchased the vehicle at least 3mos. ago,and don't know if it needs a tune-up or not, but everything seems fine. it's cold now,so it runs a little harder, than usual. I have a warranty on the car even though it's paid for, and I'm wondering if it needs a tune-up or not. |

Strength:
Good power in passing and going up hills. Nice looking. Fairly good mileage around 21mpg for the V6 gas model. Handy in loading and unloading.
Weakness:
Side mirrors give poor visability due to their angle. The back doors are narrow and hard for older people to get in and out. The front bucket seats were nice but the seatbelt clip was right up against my hip - not good for a long trip. The silver metallic cover around the shift reflected the sun into my eyes below the sunglasses when the sun was directly above the windshield. Recall issues and brake problems due to manufacturing flaws. I Liked the feel of it and it was fun to drive. However, recall problems (mine was one of the Vin numbers on the recall)with the front ball joint. Jeep said it could take months to get a replacement for the ball joint as 800,000 jeep liberty's were affected. I was also having some brake problems due to manufacturing flaws as well. These all occuring only after 16 months caused me enough concern to trade it in for a Dodge Dakota V8 with crew cab. I took real good care of my Jeep and I took only three long trips with it - otherwise it was for just around town. I felt that a trail rated jeep should hold up better than this! |

Smaller SUV, good sound system, smooth ride.
Weakness:
Poor gas mileage, black shows every little ding, easily scratched. I have a Jeep Liberty w/6,500 miles on it. I went to get an inspection yesterday and was told that my right front berrings needed to be replaced. The car is under warranty, but I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem. I have had this jeep for 2 years and, it has 55,000 miles on it. I am absolutely at a loss for words because today I am having to pay to have my engine replaced. This is unlike anything I have ever heard of. I want to try to contact corporate Jeep Liberty, but I cannot seem to find any information on that. |

Comfort, very little road noise, smooth ride,
Weakness:
poor gas mileage especially in city. Well below listed 16 mpg. Definitely recommend the K&N Air Filters to improve mpg I purchased jeep new in 2002, presently has 47,000 miles. It had a few problems fixed under warranty and extended maintenance, mostly electrical items problems. The listed mpg was 16 mpg City and 20 mpg HWY. The main problem is average overall mpg was 15, city, 12 mpg City, and between 18-19 mpg HWY. I recently installed a K&N Filter that requires servicing and not replacement. The overall increased to 16 mpg, city mpg increased to 13.5 mpg and the highway mpg increased to 20.5 mpg for short highway runs and 23 mpg for long hwy runs. I plan on having first tune-up and injection service done today, but don't believe mpg will change based on reading other reviews. I will most likely never purchase a Jeep Vehicle again because of the false specifications. Similar Products Used: 2006 Hyundai Sante Fe V6, 3.5L

This is my 2nd review of my new Jeep Liberty 2006. I have been driving it now everyday since I bought it July 4 . As I said in my first post, I love the car, but I am finding it loses power at times. What I mean by that, is when climbing a hill, it wants to dog out, and I need to boost the gas to climb, which it does kick in and go,but also I noticed just yesterday, it started to do the same thing while NOT climbing a hill. I did not have the A/C on at the time either. The dealer tells me , it is brand new, needs to break in. My question is, are you kidding me or what ?? Are there any other jeep owners out there who have experienced the same? If so, please email me at lionzgate@comcast.net. Thanks ! |

Jeep Liberty
Strength:
I like the looks of the interior and exterior and having 4wheel drive without having to have a huge SUV. It's a small version of an SUV, but still pretty roomy.
Weakness:
Too many problems for such a new vehicle. Clutch had to be replaced after 1 1/2 years (not covered under warranty). Starter has been replaced. Seatbelts broke in back when putting seat backs down. Gas mileage is pretty bad for such a small vehicle (I have a 2.4L 4 cyl manual and only get around 22mpg highway). Parts are a BEAR to find - everything has to be special ordered - even tires!! Nobody carries anything for my car - not even dealers! Alternator belts are a bear to install plus the original part has been discontinued and even the dealers have a hard time finding what part number to use. Access is easy enough, but the system to tighten it is a nightmare. After all the problems I've had with the 2003 Jeep Liberty, I'll never buy another Chrysler product. It's been all and all a lemon. Similar Products Used: Have always driven manuals - Honda Civic, Yugo, Ford Escort, etc. Never had a clutch go out until the Jeep Liberty, and I typically drive my cars to +250,000 miles before replacing them. |

sporty, solid, dependable, fun to drive , I just love jeeps and the liberty is my favorite so far . A beautifully designed mid-sized SUV
Weakness:
poor gas mileage , the seat fabric -will leave water stain if wet so be careful to keep clean . I made that mistake on my old liberty- When I bought the new one I got seat covers right away ! Great site to get great seat covers cheap for your liberty--http://stores.ebay.com/Seat-Coverz . I LOVE THESE COVERS EASY OFF-EASY ON , WASHABLE , AND CHEAP ! This is my second Liberty, bought it July 4th weekend. My previous was an '02. Overall I am happy with my Liberty's, although the gas mileage isnt great .Im glad I dont have far to travel to work. The interior design has changed a bit from the '02 to the '06 , and frankly think I prefer the '02 interior design better . The sound system /cd player setup is a bit blah compared to my '02, and it didnt come with a cassette deck, which I found a bit odd, but the dealer said they are being phased out .Again I thought that odd, but I can live without it, so no biggie there. I have owned Jeeps forever, and have always had great luck so far. Hope the '06 lives up to the rest of them. The color-
