Strength:

I have always liked the looks of the car. Good handling and traditional Jeep ride.
Strong 4.0 power.

Weakness:

Engine has had too many problems, new air compressor, hoses, thermo, parts falling off the engine because of week brachets?? Only 38000 miles.

Nice Looking car with a lot of problems, great off-road handling.

Strength:

Style, cargo room....personality, man!

Weakness:

Gas mileage is mediocre. 18/25. Had some wiring problems too. Engine doesn't sound too good at times.

The Jolly Green Giant has done well for me. I need every bit of the cargo space (back seat down) to haul an extremely large telescope wherever i need to go.

Strength:

strong engine, picks up the ladies, can go anywhere, 4 wheel drive is excellent, transmission is built like a tank. did i mention it can go anywhere!

Weakness:

ride is bumpy/choppy. little room for cargo, gas mileage is poor.

i paid 11,500 for mine.but it only had 70,000 miles on it. i would recommend it for anyone who loves the outdoors. it can get you where you need to go and then some.

95 explorer- better ride but handled more like an suv than the jeep. also i thought its v6 was underpowered.

Strength:

Will go over or through anything when hunting in deep woods.

Weakness:

I don't think Jeep has a very good quality control dept. From what I have read a lot of people end up with lemons. But if you get a good one you will die for it.

With 120,000 miles just turned over on this baby I cannot say a bad word without feeling guilty. I have only had to replace a starter and battery since ownership. This 1995 model has been nothing but tops.

Strength:

My cherokee can go anywhere....its awesome, its fast off the line, great pick up, more torque than a guy should be allowed. I have gone places in my jeep most people don't think about..to be honest i go 4 wheelin at least twice a week. the 231 command track and solid front and rear axles couldn't be a better match. the interior is great, and i have enough room even with my subwoofers. Get the sport its the best package deal.

Weakness:

only down side is the gas mileage, but i am running mud tires. one thing i would do is replace the factory exhaust system..i got a new catalitic converter and a flowmaster muffler and it sounds great, plus i got a 12 hp boost. Also my engine will run hot, BUT has never overheated (knock on wood).

I got my 95 with 70,000 miles for a heck of a deal.. and yes i would do it again in a heartbeat. I would reccomend it to anyone, espically if you hunt and/or fish. Maybe you want to go into the woods, what could be better than a cherokee? come on if its not a jeep then why are you driving it?

Strength:

Strong engine, great towing capability, good sound system, handles good, but it's not a sports car.

Weakness:

Gas milage, but there is more to life then 50 mpg. If gas milage is all you're interested in, get a rice box.

This is a great 4 wheel drive vehicle. I've never had any problem. Ever. I'd discount poor reviews as poor maintenance.

Strength:

I like everything about my Cherokee. I have a 6" lift kit on it and I got 37" muddboggin tires. This car is absolutely awesome. Of the 6 different suvs i own this is my favorite. I also got a new K&N air filter that increases horsepower so now my cherokee gots about 250 horsepower. I can take this car anywhere anytime. 4x4 works awesome

Weakness:

The color it originally was. It was a really ugly dark green....now i painted it a bright orange. Very flashy.

Originally I paid 2500 for mine. Now it is worth about 18000. I would reccomend this car to anyone who needs a very high quality vehicle that can go anywhere.

97 Hummer- Cherokee is better in the 4x4 trails. Less roomy than a hummer. But then again a Hummer is about the size of a 747 Jumbo Jet.

Strength:

-Love the looks. This beauty never looks old.
-140000 and running as good as I've ever known.
-Always been able to go where I want.
-Great in bad weather.
-Very roomy.
-Never had a problem that kept me from going somewhere.

Weakness:

-Had various frequent problems with her. Nothing too serious.
-Very noisy at high speeds.
-Shakes when braking hard.
-Interior on '90 model is not too cozy.

I didn't like driving Victoria (her beautiful name) at first. She was a rough and loud ride. However, I was able to, and am still able to, rely on her to take me anywhere at any time. I find myself looking at everyother Cherokee comparing my beaut to theirs. She has treated me far better than I've treated her. However, my parents gave her to me about 3 years ago, but I would by another in a heartbeat if I needed too. Why buy another when mine is running fine at 140000? This vehicle has grown on me and will always be my favorite vehicle ever. I highly recommend a Cherokee to anyone looking for an SUV for family, outdoor activities, but don't want a huge machine (Durango).

Strength:

Style, Infinity Gold sound system is the best, comfortable interior, decent power.

Weakness:

It threw a rod after 22,000 miles and they had to replace the short block. They said there was a bad berring in one of the cams...just a factory defect. I changed the oil religiously so that was not a factor.

Road Side Assistance: They were awful. An hour after telling me they had a tow truck on the way I called back and they had no idea who I was, they had the wrong info for my Jeep, and they asked me if I was SURE my Jeep was red and not blue. The rep also asked me if I was sure of the year of my vehicle. He seemed unable to accept the fact that his information was wrong so he asked me if I was sure my HUSBAND didn't own one in the year and color he insisted mine was. I informed him I was quite sure my husband didn't own one since I don't have a husband.

Warranty: It does not cover a rental car in the event that your Jeep breaks down 100 miles from home and you'd like to get back. That is extra and I wasn't offered it when I leased the Jeep. After hearing my horror story with Road Side Assistance, the zone manager decided to go ahead and pay for it anyways.

Customer Complaint Line: They don't care. I asked the rep why they take complaints if they don't do anything to accomodate for their mistakes. She stated it was so they could serve their customers better in the future. I told her to not file my complaint because I am not going to help them with their future customers since I won't be one! (Sorry - nothing personal future Jeep owners.)

Now, 2 mos later, I tried to start it yesterday and the battery was dead. Nothing was left on so who knows what caused it. I don't know if its the battery or alternator yet since its still in the shop. Neither the battery nor the alternator shouldn't go bad in less than two years.

I would not recommend it. The tow truck driver who towed my Jeep told me he tows a lot of the newer Jeep Grand Cherokees. One JGC he towed that day had the rear suspension go out for the third time.

I am heart-broken, I loved my '95 JGC which is why I got the '98. I had intended on being a loyal Jeep customer for many years...but I will not buy another one after the bad experience I've had. I don't like the feeling that I can't rely on a vehicle.

Strength:

Not much anymore

Weakness:

Where do I start? More than $4,000 in repairs, extremely unreliable--which is not good with two young children and a full-time job, and yes, I did all recommended maintenance.

I must admit I loved it...at first. Those ads where the Jeep is on a mountain looking cool are a JOKE. I wouldn't trust it to take me to the grocery store for fear it would break down. I am very disappointed! Over the course of six years I have not made it more than 10,000 miles before something else broke down on it. Many times it put me in a dangerous position because of it.
People, do not buy this vehicle. If I could get 10 minutes alone with a Jeep engineer I would give him a piece of my mind...and then show him the upkeep receipts.
