Strength:

Styling, handling.

Weakness:

Ride, power, though not real bad, dashboard outdated.

When I went to an Isuzu dealership to pick out a $17,000 Rodeo to have an extra work vehicle because of the 0% 60 month financing rate, I saw the VX on the showroom floor. My jaw dropped. I thought it was a display concept car because I never heard of it, am I am a car nut! So I had to have it. Awesome styling. High tech vehicle.

Where to start... I will just say the whole package is awesome. 3.5l 215hp engine, looks to kill, Recaro seats, tight leather interior, excellent sport car suspension, awesome off road performance... it's definitely the best in its class!

Weakness:

If I have to list some it would be rear visibility and access to the rear seats. It doesn't bother me, so I really don't care, although please... DON'T buy one then start complaining about these things. You need to test drive it first so you can see if it is for you. Sure the ride is rough, you can barely see out of the rear window, and there is little storage space, we know! If you bought it and this bothers you then you bought the wrong SUV!!!!

I think I said it all in my strenths and weaknessess... buy it if it's what you're looking for (as in any car). Anyone who would buy a car without understanding it's limitations then complain about them down the road shouldn't have bought the car. It's rough, tough, fast, and nimble, and if you aren't ready for that then stay away!!!

Strength:

FUN! It's tough to describe, but this car is all-around fun.
Performance is pretty good on the road. Acceleration is pretty decent for a 4000 vehicle. Performance off-road in stock form is great.

Legroom in the backseat is excellent...better than most mid-sized cars.

Weakness:

- Rearward visibility is the biggest weakness.
- The ride in the back seat is very uncomfortable (directly over rear axle).
- Getting into the back seat is difficult to say the least.
- Very little cargo space (when using back seat).

With such a poor back-seat and cargo area for general use, this is by no means a family car. If your family cares not about comfort in the persuit of fun, then this is the right car. There is not a whole lot of utility in this "SUV". It's in a class of it's own. The "CROSS" in VehiCROSS is appropriate. On and off-road performance 4x4 vehicle.

GMC Typhoon - Also a performance oriented SUV, but with no offroad capability. Much faster than the VX, but much faster than most other cars too. The VX is a completely different kind of fun.

Strength:

Style, TOD system, Sport Recarro Seats, Rally suspension

Weakness:

This vehicle has no bad qualities.

This vehicle has a unique style that causes stares and head turns. This vehicle stands above all other sport utility vehicles in style and grace. Under the hood, the 3.5L 215HP engine gives plenty of power to the driver. The sport recarro seats give plenty of support for any length of drive. The suspension takes potholes as if they were only minor bumps. The TOD (Torque On Demand) system gives the driver a sure foot on any type of road conditions. This vehicle simply has no match.

Strength:

18" Wheels, Faster than my girlfriends 1.8L Turbo Jetta, Handling, Seats are comfortable (around town)

Weakness:

COMPREHENSIVE LIST: Engine Noise, Cargo Space, BLIND SPOTS, Suspension is so tight that it creates a terribly rough ride on most rodes, Visor Mirrors don't have covers-(I'd rather look at my self than the sun, but not by much), You have to have a key to get into the hatch, Opening the hatch doesn't turn on the dome light or set off the alarm, The hatch opens sideways - There is no benefit to that (Tailgates help loading, hatches that open up cover you from rain, what does the sideways opening hatch do?) Front seats don't slide far enough forward for people to get in the back. Your fat friends will be forced to ride in the front. Very little storage space for garage door openers and such. Cheap Key - (it broke off in the ignition the other day and cost me $50 to get out, I didn't even know it at first), Seats are uncomfortable (on long trips)

This is a concept car that should have stayed a concept. I delt with the problems for too long, now I'm car shopping again. Chase Auto Finance will have to eat the huge depreciation on this one. I'll pay the $500 penalty to get out now. The depreciation has been around $9,000 in 9 months - are you kidding?! The weaknesses are too great, please understand you are buying a concept car, not a normal one.

BMW X5 - It cost a lot more, but ironically the residual is so much higher that the lease rates are competitive. That's what I'm getting next. Of course the Vehicross is worthless to trade-in because the dealer knows what it's really worth.
TOYOTA 4RUNNER - Loved it, but I had an older Land Cruiser before this car and they drove the same. I decided I wanted a change and I regret it.
XTERRA - Not as high quality of a vehicle, but more practical.

Strength:

Very smooth engine, surprisingly fast for a heavy car, handling much more like a sports car than an SUV, truly one-of-a-kind exterior appearance, Recaro seating is terrific, incredible 6-CD stereo system, the 4WD in snow is nothing short of amazing, Torque on Demand is a great idea done very well, excellent AC and heating, Plus, I'm driving the ONLY one in town.

Weakness:

Rear visibility is the biggest one. Solved partially by fisheye mirrors installed on outside mirrors. You NEED to use the outside mirrors to drive this car. The entire back seat (getting in and out, folding up and securing....better just to remove it like I did.) The stock Isuzu interior dashboard isn't nearly as cool as the exterior. Small square cupholder for some odd reason. Lever to pull bucket seat top forward is very hard to get to. No lighting in the cargo area. Hatch only openable by key and alarm does not go off when hatch is opened. I have no idea why. Resin fender flares scratch easily and require unique care. Gas mileage is not great (16/19mpg)

This SUV is one head-turner. It is not for everyone, that's for sure. But I get almost a comment a day from people when ever I stop for gas or at an intersection. If you want to drive something that people look at, this is your only choice in a stock SUV. The car has it's problems, but they are not so significant that it affects my enjoyment of the car. The VehiCross isn't for everyone, that's for sure. Most people think it's very funky but would be uncomfortable owning it, as it is a ultra-unique car. Most people want foldable third-row seating, blah blah blah. How boring. I took out my back seat for all of my cargo and it's the coolest 2-seat SUV in the world!!!

So far I like....215HP....looks...awesome 18"wheels...sound system...red/black int...I,am adding this week a KM open air filter. I bought it from Calmini.com. they,re out of Ca. of course.

Weakness:

No drink holder...Cant adjust seat hardly while driving...sunroof option would be nice...ya ya ya back window but Hell I knew that when I bought it so its no big deal!! CD player is slow and fickle...I,d also like a COMPASS with ALTIMETER..Hell this is a off road vehicle right?? Ok just checking.. OK enough on this..

WOW..I just bought this wild ride which still smells new. The VC has only
18,500 on the miles and the looks are cooool. After tracking this baby down by way of Auto Trader, I decided its road trip time!
As a matter of fact I,am having more fun driving this VC than a bus load of retards heading to Chuck E Cheeses. Some times I get more stares than a stripper with 38DD,s ok ok not that much.So after a 11 and 1/2 hr
drive back to Hell opps I mean Phx, I was surprised the tight ride didnt beat me up at all. Everyone I tell that I bought a Vehicross the first thing they say is ..."What" What is it? After 30 of these I,am starting to stop telling people what I bought!! LOL..

Great style!!, good stereo, Excellent handling and acceleration, Back seats are extremely comfortable.

Weakness:

Blind spot, Door handles hard to find in dark.

Traded in a year old Jeep Cherokee Sport. The VX is a far better quality vehicle than the Jeep. The interior of the VX is comfortable and stylish.I love the VX. The style turns heads everywhere. Get the proton yellow you might as well really stand out. I do not understand what the negative reviews are about. When you first see this vehicle it is apparent that its different. This is a car that you either love or hate at first glance and not one you can grow into. If you plan on carrying a family get another car. If you don't want people staring at you and following you into parking lots to ask you about your car, get something else.

Enough said in this site. My wife and I read the all the comments and reviews prior to buying the vehicle. She liked the one: "Some times I get more stares than a stripper with 38DD". After having the vehicle for two weeks, she told me - "that is soooooo true, it really does happen and that is why I will take this car away from you in another year! "

By the way, my wife is a size 8 with a 38D! I did not want more "stares"...

Enough said !!!!

Weakness:

- Wind noise in the back
- Rear seat accessibility
- Rear view visibility (I just purchased a "van eyes" from Pep Boys and cut it to the shape of the rear window defroster lines. Solved the problem and looks nice!). No need a fancy camera!!!

I liked the VX since it was first introduced in the US market. I personally thought was a little over-priced for the functionality ($32,000 MSRP). I decided to wait..hoping for a less "equipped" model (no Recaro seats, no CD, no chrome wheels, etc.) or for a 4 door model. Since neither the less equipped model nor the four door will be available, I decided to go for a pre-owned VX. It was worthwhile. I just got me a black beauty with just 17,000 miles and in impeccable condition. I love it!
The ride is incredible for this type / kind of vehicle. Although it is a 4x4, this vehicle is too cool for off-road activities. I rather keep it clean and avoid extreme off-road activities. I saw the pictures on www.moncha.com..that's about all I needed to know about how though, capable this vehicle is......thank you guys/gals for test driving this vehicle off-road for me.

My only question is: Will this vehicle become a collectible? The available vehicles says so (only 200 units imported per year?). The rapid depreciation on the price of the vehicle shows otherwise. It is up to VX owners to keep the value on the vehicle. The VX should retain its value around $15,000, in excellent condition, regardless of the year/mileage.

It is not an MG, but is it not a 1957 Corvette either. Is there a SUV that is a collectible, anyway?

Strength:

style, power, handling, interior comfort. the VIP purchase program through www.planetisuzoo.com

Weakness:

you know: the rear visibility. here's a tip: take the rear headrests off (how often do you carry passengers for extended trips?) and stash them inside the wheel of the spare tire! improves rear viz greatly. get Van Eyes from PepBoys (check the vmag message boards for details). another weakness: no full-sized spare :-( oh yes, you must open the rear hatch with the key (what were they thinking?) here's another you may not have heard: if you use the windshield washers while the driver window is open, prepared to get a tad wet; aerodynamics, etc. with all that said, i love the truck, everyone loves the truck, and hats off to isuzu for going out there to make this for those who dig it.

a totally unique vehicle with huge style points and a great motor. there may be more "issue-free" vehicles out there, but none that elicit quite the emotional reaction that this one gets. it drives really really well, on highways, backroads, and sand. if you like driving and need offroad capabilities, this is a serious one to look at.
