Strength:

Completely crazy styling, agile handling, High Point visibility, surprisingly large load carrying ( with seat folded flat ). Performance, Brakes, quite frugal for a big engined SUV. Those fabulous Recaros and head turning looks. Did I mention the mad performance. It's an automotive celebrity. I never seen another one on the streets of London (so far).

Weakness:

This is a tough one. The interesting dance rear seat passengers must do to get in the car. Otherwise it's perfect.

First of all my Vx is a japanese import. I saw one in the car park at Mammoth Mountain while snowboarding earlier this year and was blown away by the styling, and was going to import one from the US, However I managed to locate a brand new imported one in the UK.The Vx is not available from Isuzu in the UK, which is fine by me as I get offer to buy my little truck every day. But nothing will make me sell this amazing vehicle. The revolutionary suspension means that I can powerslide my car around corners in 2wd mode and point and go in 4wd without any worries about stability. Parking is easy, sorry people but mine has the great reaw view camera and dash mounted TV screen. I had a custom switch installed so that I can turn the reiw view cam on anytime. The clarity of the image, even at night is very impressive.(Also got a TV tuner installed so I can watch TV while stuck in traffic, which unfortunately is too often in London. London is not exactly mountainous but trips to the in-laws in the country and going clay shooting has demonstrated the Vx is no 'soft-roader'. It easy to get fatigued while stuck in traffic but those beautiful recaros just seem to massaged any back stain away. The straight line performance of this vehicle has caused a few dropped jaws and kicking in the power mode and engaging fwd has left a few lesser ( but more expensive ) SUVs severely embarassed. My Vx, my beautiful new wife, and I are off to the Alps in France in a couple of weeks. I have no worries that the Vx is up to the job. Buy one. Buy one now. you will never regret it. Its not for everyone, but isn't that part of the appeal? This is a very serious off roader, but it also has impeccable table manners and is unlikely to tell crude jokes in front of you mother. I'm a musician and carry three large keyboards + rack mounted gear amps and speakers, all over the country. The Vx neither complains or shows any significant performance loss regardless of load. Be like everyone else own a jeep or dare to be different. After all why be a sheep when you can be a wolf?

Strength:

Performance and workmanship which instill a strong sense of confidence. Balance of engine and road setup is excellent. Some say the interior is cramped, but I find it roomy and comfortable. Powerful. Will easily tow full size truck out of trouble! Sound system more than adequate, far better than most stock systems. Off road is excellent, and very forgiving for inexperienced drivers in this environment (me, at first). Great turning radius... if you can get down, you can get back... forwards. Excellent brakes. Fast yet mature. Refined design, yet not "prissy" Sensible invincibleness might be a good way to describe this design. Very visible in traffic: Starship/Pokemon Styling. SPECIAL NOTE, and this is not meant to be trite, but since buying the VX, I have found myself getting back in shape (lost 30lbs!), almost as if by owning the vehicle, one is subconciously fitting the virile image which it portrays...

Weakness:

As a concept car, there a few minor quirks, or "endearing features", perhaps. Rear visibility is the major one, but now I am just as confident in parallel parking as my Audi (lot's 'o' glass), "wide angle" stick-on mirror on passenger side fixed most rear view problems. Seatbelt sometimes gets caught in door jam, precluding shutting: open & release fixes it, but still annoying. Wind noise from roof rack. Squeaks from something in the hood for first 10k or so. Quiet now. Don't like the way the a/c must engage when in window vent selection. Even though I understand why they did this for demisting the windshield, I would still like the option. The a/c makes very little difference to the performance, however. Due to sweeping a-pillar, one may hit head when entering vehicle... only once! (must inform new passengers, though) Starship/Pokemon Styling... takes getting used to.

Paid $23,000, as 99's are "old" but it was new (6 miles)! Full recommendation, but it's not for everyone.

Strength:

Fast, strong engine, superior 4wd traction, wonderful brakes and driving characteristics.

Weakness:

The rear view sucks. I have had to get back into the swing of using the side mirrors all the time. Isuzu needs to offer the rear view CCTV (closed circut TV) system they use in Japan. If enough of us ask for it, perhaps they will offer it as an option!!

28,500.00 I would recommend it to any serious hardcore 4wd addict. The traction and 4wd driving ability is out of this world (so are the looks and styling). This vehicle is not for the mundane or conservative. It's wild styling and power to weight ratio place it in a class for serious off roading. I am still researching the possibility of installing a set of cibie off road lights on the front of the vehicross. Any ideas?

Strength:

Exclusve, head-turning looks - how many cars have fangs and horns?! Strong engine & brakes. Invisible and effective 4WD system. Nice in-dash 6 CD player. Recaro seats provide long-haul comfort and excellent lateral support. Corners like a Mustang, yet has great ground clearance (partially due to short wheelbase) and approach/departure angles. Microscopic turning radius.

Weakness:

Wretched rear visibility, poor ride (stiff suspension/anti-roll bars). Rear seat access is a gymnastic stunt, but once there it's roomy (and dark with poor visibility). Theres no release botton for the rear hatch, you have to use key each time. Recaro seats are perched a little too high. No remote release for fuel-filler door. Inconvenient steering-column adjustment release lever. Lack of cubbies and storage compartments, microscopic cargo capacity with rear seat in place.

The VX is not for everyone. It's noisy, cramped and has a teeth-rattling ride. But I love it!! It's a Miata AND it's a Hummer. It's more rare than a Ferrari Modena F1 ($155K)! I made front and rear visibility better by remounting rear-view mirror higher on the windshield. An aerodynamic roof-mounted cargo box solved the cargo problem and enhances the VX's lines.

can't see to back out the back window, the cup holder needs to be round,

Strength:

-It feels like driving a sport car expect with a better view (higher).

-3.5L with 215HP... same as the Trooper. That SUV is considered big and powerful.

- Suspension. Isuzu used a different technology that allows consistent firm shock absorption and stability. It also seems that the shocks will last much longer than regular ones. You can take exit highway ramps faster than other SUVs. The Vehicross doesn't lean that much in a curve.

- TOD is very prime and kicks as soon as you need more grip on the road. Outstanding acceleration even on wet road!

- Recarro leather seat. I also like the grip on the leather steering wheel.

- Breaking - The Vehicross has a stiff suspension, 4 wheels anti-locks breaks and just the right weight (4000pds). Car and Driver tested it against other SUVs . The Vehicross was breaking 70 feet shorter than the Grand Cherokee V8.

- The Vehicross U-turns very well. It's also very easy to park in a narrow parking spot.

- For kayak fans, you can mount your kayak easily on the Vehicross. It has 2 holes in the front and 2 holes in the back to tie the ropes at each ends of your kayak. The lower plastic part of the vehicle also protects the paint from the ropes. Well thought Isuzu!

Weakness:

-Missing back door release button. You need a key every time.

-Squared cup holder.

-Horn is kind a little hard to press on and it sounds more like a Toyota Corolla than a SUV.

- My friends had a hard time to get in and out the first couple of times. Then they developed their own techniques and it became quite easy for them.

-Need to clean the windows more often than most other vehicles. Unknown fingerprints appear on windows every time I park in a public area.

(BTW spent more times thinking about weaknesses than Strenghts)

28K - In some area, Isuzu dealers are trying to get ride of the Vehicross because they have a hard time to sell this unusual vehicle.
Most of the people think that the Vehicross is too small for the price they have to pay for a SUV.
There is this vision about SUVs and it’s:
Big $$$ = big Size SUVs
My vison is more
Big $$$ = Big Technology/Fun/Performance SUVs

Some other thinks that this is just a prototype.
Well that prototype has a Warranty of 10 years/120 000 miles.

If you have no BIG kids yet. If you don't need big cargo area. If you like to feel the road when you drive. I would recommend the Vehicross.

Strength:

The styling truly unique and I love it. The Recaro seats are the most comfortable I have ever sat in and I've taken a few long trips with it.
I have had NO MAINTENANCE problems in 18,843 miles, not even minor ones. Ground clearance is GREAT for those of us who truly go offroad, with good departure and approach angles. The air conditioner will absolutely make ice cubes in 100 degree weather!

Weakness:

Rear visibility takes getting used to, but it no worse than a van we once owned. I'd really like to have a REAL drink holder in the front, two would be better. Getting in the back seats can be a problem for those who are not very limber.

$29,880. I love my Vehicross and have lived with it for 15 months in day to day driving. It still gets a strong reaction wherever you park it, people seem to have a love it or hate it reaction to the styling. It's a vehicle I still look forward to driving everyday and performance in the snow this winter was better than my old Explorer and on a par with our old Jeep Wrangler. The Recaro seats sold me the minute I sat in them. I consider this the perfect choice for someone who wants a four wheel drive performance sport vehicle and is intrigued by the mechanics of the amazing shock absorbers (wonderful at speed offroad) and does not really need to use the back seat that much hauling people.

Similar Products Used:

More civilized for offroad than the Jeep Wrangler and easier to live with. Better performance and handling than my old Ford Explorer. No other SUV I've driven handles as well and has such distinctive styling.

Strength:

Styling, handling, power, leather Recaro seats, 6 disk CD in-dash with 6 speaker stereo, Torque-on-Demand, reclining back seats, keyless remote entry, roominess

Weakness:

I honestly can't come up with anything yet. People say the rear visibility is a weakness, but with my mirrors adjusted correctly, I don't have a problem with it. The back seat is perfect for our 5 year old. There's tons of room and the reclining seats work great for when she gets sleepy.

I paid $29,000 for it and it's worth every penny. I would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone who enjoys all the strengths listed above. Be prepared to be noticed and always bring a soft cloth along to wipe off the hand-prints on the windows from people trying to look inside! Many people have said it's for people w/o children but it's a great vehicle for us and we have a 5 year old. The rear seat access is a piece of cake when you're only 5 years old and once comfortably seated in the back, there's plenty of room for her to look at her books, play her GameBoy or just sleep.

I've owned and driven lots of cars but this is the finest one yet.

Weakness:

Lack of balance with the dash styling, lighting or lack there of for the stereo, cup holding features, getting in back seats

The 30K I paid was well worth it. Good luck getting those hagglers at the dealership to come down off of that sticker. If they don't sell it to you, they'll sell it to the next guy. Blind Spots
Kinda week dashboard looks

Let me start by saying I do not miss my mustang at all. It was a sweet ride but the driving experience you get from the VX is awesome. My wife thought it looked funny at first but she loves driving it and has even asked to "borrow" it to go to work. I fixed the blind spots by reading some post on this page. I went to pep boys and got two blind spot mirrors ($4.15). This totally fixed the blind spot over your shoulder problem for those tricky lane changes. I live near DC so there are lots of those to make. This fish eye mirror on the back window helps with backing up and parking.
Isuzu should consider using these as standard features. Get this car and you will be happy with the ride and the power it gives you (not to mention all the head turning and double takes you will see).
