Strength:

Not too big..not too small.. 20 mpg for this beast is good I think.. can''''t be beat for the money.. no competition really pricewise.

Weakness:

Only gripe is the seats are not easily removed, have to unbolt rear seats from floot :(

Have owned my troooper for 3 1/2 trouble free years. Slid on some ice 1 year ago into traffic light pole, looked ugly, but was still drivable, no damage to frame. Have been impressed with this truck.. plenty of room... decent power.. ride height. Would buy again.

Strength:

High clearance, reliable, nice design, plenty o'' headroom.

Weakness:

Gas-a-holic around town, does much better on the open road. No (Right)ARMREST for the driver!! Winter/Power drive switches should be on dash with 4x4 switch.

Our Trooper maintains the 3 R''s: reliable, rugged, and roomy. She will be turning 4 soon with no "major" complaints.

Quality, space, power, relibiilty, standard equipment!

Weakness:

Gas Milage!

Bought this truck to replace my 89’ trooper. Great Deal on a new truck had a few miles on it but no problem. Love the interior space, and the power from the 3.5 V6. Compared to 4Runner I got a lot more equipment on this truck than from a very used 4Runner with a ton of miles. I am itching to get it off road, did extensive off-roading with my 89’ in Colorado and Utah, no problems handling the tough stuff. Before the 89’ I had an 86’ that ran forever, until the body rusted out, and became a bit cold driving in the winter! Sad to hear the rumors the Trooper is being retired after nest year’s models. This truck never got the respect from the general public.

Strength:

Isuzu has maintained the character of the Trooper through the years. Plenty of interior space for the family. Excellent bang for the buck.

Weakness:

The steering wheel has never been centered from the factory (little qurk). The manual transmission gear ratios between 1st and 2nd are horrific on quick accelerations (might as well shift without engaging the clutch).

I am a long time owner of an 86 Trooper that finally gave out with 212,000 miles. The new Trooper is like driving an old friend. The increase in power is significant verses the 90 or so horses of the 86. I have taken this truck on several Isuzu off road events and other than bumping and "see sawing" on the transfer case skid plate is has effortessly survived.

Strength:

Nice leather package, very smooth ride, in dash 6 cd player, huge moonroof, sits up high and has good clearance underneath, tons of space (including good leg room in the backseat.

Weakness:

I wish the arm rests were a little larger--- Poor gas mileage, but we knew that going in---Wish the spare tire wasn''t on the backdoor.

I stole this car at $24700. An amazing ride for the price. We looked at Explorers, 4-Runners, and Pathfinders before deciding on the Trooper. We got this car fully loaded with leather and all for much less than what we would have paid for any of the above vehicles lesser models. Don''t buy into the marketing hype that a lot of companies throw at you. Give the Trooper serious consideration.

Strength:

Strong engine, comfortable ride, large sunroof, good seats, loads of space, easy to park, excellent driver visibility, very utilitarian with luxurious interior, fabulous warranty and good quality reputation

Weakness:

Gas milage appears to be 13 -14 in mostly city in first 500 miles. Little concerned about the damage reported in slow crash tests. Doesn''t appear to hold value very well, but if you keep it until it is used up that doesn''t matter

Terrific value. Local dealer was advertising S model for $20,400 (MSRP $29,800)but I got there just after it was sold. Decided to get the Limited though it wasn''t discounted quite as much - it had a slightly better look and I thought the seats felt more comfortable. Still a great value and is quite fun to drive. Can''t wait for winter. I plan to keep this for a long time.

LOL LOL LOL LOL!!!!!!

Weakness:

Refer back to summary!

Please, if you haven''t bought one yet STAY AWAY! Everything started going wrong @ 81,000 miles. I changed oil every 3000 miles and took very good care of it but that was not enough. The 3.2 wouldn''t pull a greasy string out of a cats A$$!!! Replaced all belts to include the timing and water pump @ 60 as stated by Isuzu. Then the computer went out, then the starter, driver side window then another starter. Also the Map sensor and egr valve. The dealership could''nt get the CHECK ENGINE light off so I could trade it in! Traded it on a F150, WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER!!!

Visibility, High Ground Clearance, TOD (awesome), Great Cargo Space, Sporty Look, Price, Reliablity,

Weakness:

Gas milage-but when you buy an SUV that''s what to expect.

What a wonderful SUV to drive for the $$$. I wouldn''t have looked at a Trooper, until I found how expensive other SUV''s are. My number one concern was a reliable SUV. Next was a reasonable price. Finally I needed an SUV with lots of cargo space and an easy 4WD system to access when the road conditions get bad. My answer was the TROOPER! I also considered: 4-runner- good and reliable but cramped felling for me (6''2) and way too much $ for what you get. Pathfinder- reliable but also not enough cargo space and too $$$. Explorer, Blazer, Durango,-Let''s just say "reliablility?" Overall you get the most bang for your buck in a 4wd SUV.

Strength:

Brakes, engine, comfort, quality, steering (very sharp) and suspension, durability

Weakness:

Hmmmm, gas mileage

I live in Japan and so can buy the more sophisticated Trooper (Big Horn over here). I have a 2-door Irmscher with lot''s of std equipment--heated Recaro seats and mirrors, auto aircon, Irmscher two-way suspension, 4-wheel ABS, LSD, 5-speed, headlight washers, 3.2 V6 (in 1993). Problems have been an oil seal replacement (recall), right front axle lock (warranty), cd changer problem (otherwise a great sound system!), holed exhaust (my fault), windshield seal (probably my fault) and a little more oil consumption than I like. However, I beat the monster off road, load it with lot''s of gear or rocks and gravel, carry two MTB''s on a carrier on top and it always performs. No brake change yet (53K), tires were changed just before last winter though they still had lot''s of tread, paint remains very unscratched which is amazing for all the brush busting I have done. Has been a most reliable companion in all areas. Sadly, Isuzu has discontinued the two-door, the manual transmission and is being pressured by GM to push the TrailBlazer, but the Big Horn is a much better SUV, even my ''93. They should have updated styling and other features and held onto this Gem. Read the horror stories on the M-class!
