Strength:

Powerfull, safe, comfortable.

Weakness:

The only weakness I've faced is the gas pedal is very touchy/

This is the most amazing SUV ever, and it saved my life. Most people believe that all SUV's are top heavy and will roll over, and indeed they are correct. The Santa Fe even has warnings about it, but it suprised me and saved my life.

I was driving down a snowy road when I hit a patch of black ice, and most drivers know that you can't see it and it can do anything. I hit that ice doing about 45 and it kicked the back end of my suv out and sent me into a spin towards a steep and very deep ditch. I didn't try to stop it from spinning because I knew it would be worse. I slid nose first into the ditch, where the traction control took over. I hit the gas and turned the wheel and the suv spun around again and the back tires hit the V point of the ditch and that kicked me back around into another spin. I had no idea where I was going or where I would end up because there was about two feet of snow in this ditch. Well the final spin sent me going backwards towards a field. When I came to a stop, I realized I hadn't rolled over even though I hit the ditch at almost 50 mph. I knew that somehow I could get out of that ditch, so I switched over from drive to the tap shifter. I put it into 4th gear and punced the gas. I dug down into the snow and started creeping back up the ditch. People were pulled over already expecting to help me out and I kept slowly coming out of the ditch. I was on the cell phone with a friend that had been following me and she was telling me how close I was to being out. Right near the top of the ditch I started to slide, and I took it down to third and took the TCS (traction control system) off and punched it again, which sent me flying up the ditch and back onto the road. That vehicle saved my life and I am glad that I had it because if it would have been my old vehicle, a Ford Windstar, I would have rolled. The most I got out of that experience is knowledge and neck pain because I stiffened up my body before I hit the ditch.

Strength:

Stability on the road, take corner, in the snow when going from automatic to manual it will do the job you are looking for ...

Weakness:

The breaks need to be change often, the CD system is cheap, should increase the wieght charge on the roof because 500 pounds is not that much compare with other SUV.

Nothing to complaint after 176,000km I decided to change the tire. They are still good for another summer so I will keep them. The best tire I never had. Very good on gas the paint is still perfect. Cheap I paid it in 3 yrs then it was money in the bank! The dealership is at over 200km but I don't need them anyway ...! Great SUV

Gas mileage,looks,power and comfort

I have had my santa fe for 4 years and never had any problems until it hit 150000 km and had to replace the trailing arm bushings. But that is understandable. I replaced the original tires at 130 000km and the brakes at 150 000 km.This car has been practicaly maintenance free except for oil changes and Trevors Hyundai made that job really easy by picking the vehicle up , doing the work and droping it off again.I have never been more satisfied with a vehicle.

Strength:

Gas mileage, excellent paint job, leather seating, dependability, good looks (Merlot color with brush guard), interior space is fantastic.

Weakness:

Haven't found any since day one driving this Sante Fe.

I have used this vehicle as my primary driving unit since 2001. It has been to New York/New Jersey (2 times) and to Las Vegas once. This vehicle has never been in the shop except for routine maintenance. I have found the MPG to be 30 average which is fine for a V6 4 wheel drive SUV. I have no restrictions about recommending Sante Fe to any driver. I have replaced the tires (75,000 on dealer tires when delivered) and have put in a new battery at 4 years. My Sante Fe has never failed to answer the call, be it in hot Texas or dead of winter in New Jersey ice and snow. My main problem now is whether to keep the old one which is in great shape or trade and get a new one.

None that I can think of.

I have had my Sante Fe for 10 months now and can only praise everything about it from its fuel consumption to its comfort.
prior to buying the Sante Fe I looked at many 4x4's but found the Sante fe offered all what I required which included large boot, Leather interior, cruise control, good fuel economy, spacious back seats which can accomodate 3 large adults and an attractive looking exterior.
It has it all.

Strength:

The Santa Fe has recieved great reviews regarding safety and reliability. That's why we were going to buy one. Apparently we bought one with some problems that HYUNDAI OF TEMPE knew about prior to us purchasing it and did not share that information with us.

Weakness:

The dealership - Hyundai of Tempe did not follow through on their "promises."

Within 3 minutes of signing the papers at HYUNDAI OF TEMPE, my wife went to start the car to drive it off the lot - and it would not start. We thought it was part of the "safety features" where you had to have your foot on the break, or possibly it was in gear - after a few times, it started. The next day, intermittent starting, by the 3rd day (actually 48 hours later - we bought it on Monday night) it wouldn't start at al. It had to be towed back to HYUNDAI OF TEMPE. After attempting to fix the car TWICE in LESS THAN A WEEK. HYUNDAI OF TEMPE, although promised they would exchange it, decided to try one more time to fix it. We are currently crossing our fingers that the problem has been fixed because the think that HYUNDAI OF TEMPE SOLD US A LEMON.
We have talked to their staff on multiple occasions. The General Manager, Mike Wasserman, even said on the phone that it had been in the shop several times before. HYUNDAI OF TEMPE KNOWINGLY SOLD US A CAR THAT THEY KNEW THEY HAD PROBLEMS WITH. I asked the salesman outright before we purchased it, "What is wrong with this car?" "What is the catch?" "There has to be something, what is the hidden problem?" And I was told they simply had to move it off the lot, it had been there too long.

My recommendation to you - DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE FROM HYUNDAI OF TEMPE!!

Strength:

Appearance.
Cost.

Weakness:

A warranty that does not deliver.
Poor Customer Service.
Cheap Leather Seats.
Fake Wood Insets.

I was very impressed with the vehicle the first couple of years I owned it. I thought it was a great value compared to other's in it's division.

However, as with many things, inexpensive price tags commonly reflect poor quality merchandise that does not stand the test of time and little to no customer service.

After an oil change at 30,000 miles, the check engine and oil lights began flashing. The dealership was contacted on two occassions. The dealer instructed me not to worry as that was a common malfunction. After three months I took it in, apologizing (?!), because I couldn't stand driving it like that any longer.

They said the indicator light was damaged, something they had't seen before, ordered a part and sent me on my way without bothering to check to see if the oil/engine was o'kay. 10 days later, the engine completely locked down.

The warranty is not being honored because I don't have all maintenance records. The fact that I took my car in for inspection for a flashing warning device appears to be irrelevant.

In my experience, the warranty doesn't mean a thing unless you get EVERY requirement(reading between the lines and in some cases back 10 pages)completed at their dealership.

The dealer in Amarillo actually dared me to hire an attorney and get in line behind all of the others who had suits against them - which I believe says it all.

Strength:

Sound engine, possitive gear shift, capable off road SUV

Weakness:

First gear too short, wind noise at high road speeds, no cruise control option, limited servicing areas for main dealers - who know what they are doing -

Not a bad machine, capable off road with impecable road manner. As long as you don't try cornering at mor that 30mph on Italian mountain passes!
The suspension could do with being a litle stiffer, as it feels like the wheels are attached with four huge vats of treacle most of the time, or is it the way I drive?!
MPG not to bad for the 2.4 GSI, with aircon running and in top gear at approx 90 mph still returns in the reagion of 28-34 to the gallon.
Handling in marginal at best, but it was never intended to be a racing car....
Off road, it is supprisingly capable, even though it does not have the same ground clearence as an Land Rover or Range Rover, it seems quite happy to sit at 2000 rpm in first gear and pull the vehicle along without too much ado.
All in all, not aq bad package.
