Acceleration, fuel economy 22.5 (town) 32 (trip)

Weakness:

Traction (keeping the front wheels from screaming when you jump on it)!

Fantastic car! Fantastic value! Love the acceleration, ride quality, handling. Would buy another in a minute. Mine's diamond white, car is a classy looking model. In two years it has never been back to the garage for anything except oil and maintenance.

Model Reviewed: Santa Fe LX 3.5 Liter

Strength:

3.5 Liter V6 CD Changer Seat heaters Acceleration is pretty good

Weakness:

No power seats! Cheap leather quality.

I has leather interior but the leather is a low quality (more like naugahide). The 3.5 liter 6 is spirited. Quiet riding for an SUV. 6 disc CD changer is a nice addition. Gas milage I get is 17.5 - 18.5 around town/short trips, I guess not to bad for a vehicle with FWD and 3.5 liter V6 that weighs almost 4000 lbs.

Model Reviewed: Santa Fe 3.5 V6 (Canada)

Strength:

See the review above.

Weakness:

Fuel consumption, but hey we knew we'd be paying more when we bought the 3.5 no surprises there. Just had a safety recall regarding the ABS braking system, repair involves a 5 minute upgrade to the braking computer to prevent ABS braking below 12km/hr speeds.

Bought in January in the middle of a bitter Canadian winter, our Santa Fe has performed beautifully. Road handling is excellent, a bit more lean than the Civic we had before, but that is to be expected with a taller vehicle, ride on highway and bumpy Hamilton roads is smooth and sure, and we can actually talk at a normal volume while driving now, nice and quiet, unlike the Honda we had before, . Acceleration is fantastic! We tried the smaller V6, just no comparison. Great features, heated leather seats are very welcome in this climate, very good finish overall in the interior. If you're going to buy this vehicle spring for the wood grain package, it really creates a rich interior. We also went with the 3.5 because we wanted the 5 speed transmission and the auto climate control that were'nt standard on the smaller V6 or 4Cyl models, no regrets there, if you install them in base models the price starts approaching a 3.5 model so why not get everything for a little more. The midnight blue we chose is stunning, especially after the snow and salt's been washed off and the water (ice?) is beading on the bonnet. Will post an update when we've had a bit more mileage behind us, so far we only have about 6000kms, that's about 3500mls for you guys south of the border. In a nutshell, for a well built, smooth-running, quality, value for money vehicle, you'd be hard pressed to find a better vehicle, we're very happy with "Duffy".

Strength:

PRICE Smooth, quiet ride interior space and design fit and finish of materials

Weakness:

seats are a little stiff tacky seat upholstery

This was our first new vehicle purchase. We live in Georgia and our realtives in Michigan, so we were looking for a vehicle that would be comfortable and roomy enough for long road trips. We put 32,000 miles on it in about a year and a half, and I honestly have no complaints. We looked at all the other small SUVs and sport wagons on the market and have to say this is definatly the best value. You do get a lot of quality for not a lot of money. We had a problem with the check engine light at around 20000. The O2 sensor and fuel evap sensors were replaced and haven't had any other problems. The 2.7l v6 engine is smooth and quiet at highway speeds. There is adequate power for passing and driving around town while it's not fast you won't be the last one at the light. It's not a sports car anyways. I think this is the best small suv, and value out there right now and if you are in the market you would be missing out if you didn't give the Santa Fe a chance.

Everything is strong on this vehicle. The price and the warranty was a key.

Weakness:

This is an awesome vehicle. Our Sante Fe is loaded, to include the Babysitter DVD/Tuner TV in the ceiling. I am 6 feet tall and I fit like a glove. The ride heralds my Lincoln and the get up and go is more than adequate. Love it. Ours is White with the trim package and tow package 2.6 V6. I picked up a friend at the airport and he and his wife had 4 bags and a dog. They all fit just fine. We also have the CD/Cassette stereo and when a DVD is in the TV it is like surround sound at the theater. Great care, great prive.

Strength:

good price, great looks, ride and features.

Weakness:

gas mileage seems to be misleading on 2.4 cyl auto. Sticker claims 20-27, but you can't get there if you drive over 55 mph

Made comparison to other mini-suvs in this range and found to be "heads above" others in look, ride and "feel" Impressed with the many standard features. Only bad comment is the 2.4 auto does not get good economy at 70 mph. best has been 23 mpg

The exterior look. It sits up just enough. Not so high so that when I get out my truck I might darn near break my ankles jumping down. My truck is very comfortable. I am getting ready to get headrest tv monitors put in next month.

Weakness:

gas mileage seems a little poor. (maybe because I am in it 24-7 you think??

I purchased my new Sante Fe on the 1st of January. I have not stop driving it since. It is midnight blue. Everyone always complements this great looking truck.

Model Reviewed: Hyundai SanteFe LX AWD

Strength:

Nice style, nice handling characteristics; reviews indicating poor acceleration and roll tendencies in turns appear to reflect older SanteFes, not the 2004 LX AWD. The LX accessories should be included free for the upgrade price, but they are nice.

Weakness:

a). Only available in Manual Transmission [I hate this idea, do NOT want to pay for Automatic, and REALLY wanted a Manual 5-speed!], and (b) MPG ratings of 17/21 is horrible (c) The LX accessories should be included free for the upgrade price, but they are nice.

I researched over 2 dozen new vehicles to replace a large Isuzu Trooper, and was VERY disappointed at the options. However, after reading reviews and test driving the SanteFe LX, I was pleased with most everything EXCEPT that (a) it only comes in Automatic, and (b) piss-poor gas mileage compared to other vehicles.
