Strength:

I love everything about it except the gas cap with no tether.

Weakness:

Nothing

I have to say... I'm very satisfied with this SUV. The Pilot is an excellent vehicle. The ride is smooth and compliant, the interior is top of the line, the cargo space is plentiful, lots of storage space and styling. The brakes on this SUV are fantastic and it floats over the pavement soaking up road imperfections with no problem.

I don't understand why anyone would have a problem with the Pilot's third row seat. One reviewer said Honda should have left it off the Pilot. How stupid is that? I'd rather have the third row seat even if only kids can use it than not have it at all. I think the Pilot is fantastic and all the goobers out there who are trashing this SUV should get a life!

Strength:

The VTEC engine is a dream. It is very quiet offering plenty of power for a vehicle weighing in at over 4400 pounds. The performance is excellent. The head room and over all fit and finish is superb. Very good gas mileage. I average 19 MPG combined city and highway driving using regular octane gasoline.

Weakness:

No heated outside rear view mirrors can result in fogging in certain weather conditions. I have noticed road noise which may be attributed to both the quiet engine and tire brand. I can not see either the homelink or steering wheel mounted radio and cruise control buttons while driving during very dark outside conditions. Neither light up. The Navigation system "mapping" is insufficient for many locations on the North Pacific Peninsula.

Great SUV for the Pacific Northwest. The Honda Pilot offers good value for the price even with dealer mark up. This vehicle is very versatile, presenting car like ride with plenty of room coupled with off road ability. For me, the Variable Torque Management, 4-wheel drive system, and driving position made it more appealing than the 2003 Accord sedan which I was initially going to purchase.

Weakness:

Could be a softer ride My CRV was a nicer ride. Too much road noise.

Ive owned Hondas since 1991 and they have NEVER broken down.So I Know I am taking a chance on a 1st year car. I expect to have problems especially since the Chevy TrailBlazer has been recalled 5 or 6 times already. But so far so good.I am experiencing front end vibration at about 70mph. Seems like it might be a tire or balancing issue. When I take it in for 1st oil change I will have them check it out.Otherwise I am very satisfied with vehicle. I traded a 1999 CRV wich was a great SUV. Ive racked up 1900 miles so far mainley commuting 19 miles one way to work in Chicago. Im getting 18 MPG all city driving. Hasnt burned a drop of oil, and everything works no problem.I have a EX-L model.

Honda Name, durability, reliability, comfort, power, versatility, resalve value, etc..

Weakness:

boring design, tight room in the 3rd row seat and in the cargo area when 3rd row seat is up

First of all, I read some reviews posted in the beginning of the message board and I am surprised why the site administrators allow such language and behavior to be posted. I have done extensive research on all SUVs. I wanted to rate Honda Pilot at 5 star rating but I deliberately chose 4, I will explain later why. Before I give my opinion, I should mention that there are two kinds of buyers of SUV. Those who buy it for the practicality and charm of it (most buyers-90%) and those who buy it for off-roading and adventerous stuff (limited buyers, less than 10%). Like the majority, I fit in the practical users of SUV who like the idea of an SUV and will probably never take it off road. With this thought in mind, those who are hard core fans of off roading, please don't read my review. Go buy a Toyota Land Cruiser or Land Rover; you shouldn't even be thinking of Honda Pilot if you are from those 10% SUV buyers. Now, I will first begin with what I do not like about Honda Pilot, as this is my way of analyzing. Firstly, I do not like it's design. It's too simple and boring. I hope Honda would alter it's design for 2004 to make it look more stylish. But it's ok, I can get used to the design. Secondly, I am not too comfortable with the room available in the 3rd seat and the cargo area with the 3rd seat up. But, I can live with that too since a minivan doesn't have much room in the cargo area either with the 3rd seat up and the middle rows have captain chairs in the minivan but Honda Pilot has a bench seat which is a plus. Other than these two features, I do not dislike anything else in Honda Pilot. Now, it's qualities. First of all, I can tell you flat out, there is NO SUV on the market today which gives you over all value of this quality for the price like Honda Pilot does. I will support my claim with the following arguments. Honda's reliability, dependability and resale value is far better than american cars; if you don't believe me go do a search for used american cars and used japanese cars and see the difference. Also, this vehicle has good all around power and handling and the gas mileage is better than any SUV. It has better interior room than most minivans (bench seat for middle row) and it's very affordable compared to other SUVs. It comes with many options and even with premium options like DVD or navigation system with leather, the price re

Weakness:

on the highway, there is some wind noise but nothing major. I was aware of this when I bought it.

I have been reading this list since before I bought my Pilot. I did use the feedback to help me with my decision. I have been very happy with my purchase and pleased with the care I receive at my dealership. My pilot is a pleasure to drive and I find it very comfortable. I do not do off-roading but do a great deal of highway driving. It seems solid on snow and ice. I like the high visibility and the sophistication the Pilot provides. It is simple yes, but I didn't want a complicated vehicle. I wanted a reliable vehicle that was spacious and fun to drive. I have that in the Pilot. My last vehicle was a Chrysler Town and Country. I was very, very, disappointed in this van. It was unreliable and left me stranded several times (with my baby daughter). I bought it new and could not drive it at 500km. In response to the previous posting about Chrysler mini-vans, I completely agree. I spoke to several Pilot owners, in person, before I bought mine. I also test drove one for several days to see how it would fit into my life. I would recommend this to everyone, as spending this amount on a vehicle is a very serious decision. My Honda dealer was very willing to put me in touch with Pilot owners and this went along way in making me feel confident. Good Luck.

Strength:

Honda quality, reliability. Great engine and power. Features. Third row seat for the kids (when needed). When the seat isn't needed, fold it down. No need to remove it and it doesn't take up room. Stereo MUCH better than my Odyssey. After 8K miles, no problems at all.

Weakness:

Third row is small, but it is designed for children and does the job. Wish it had a bit more cargo room behind the third seat. Would have liked a sunroof and an in-dash CD player, but not necessary. Don't like how the high beams turn on (push lever outward). Different from every other Honda I've owned back to 1978.

I am a TRUE purchaser and now have 8K miles on the car. It is everything I expected and more. After years of only buying Hondas, this continues to please. I have four children and needed the room third seat (our other car is a 1999 Odyssey). Sure, the rear seat is tight, even for my older kids, but it works and works well. I am averaging 18 MPG city and recently got 24 MPG on a trip from Denver to Lamar with four children and four adults. What other SUV can do this? Not to mention the anticipated reliability that should be as good as all my other Hondas, several of which went well over 100K miles without problems. You can't put a price on reliability or dependability when your family is in the car...

road and highway noise. It is so bad that I am regretting buying this vehicle. Honda should have done a better job.

Interior design is quite okay with me.The drive is smooth and effortless for a rather big vehicle. Space for people on the third row is very limited. Easy getting in and out.
