Strength:

Lots of interior room! It's so easy to configure the 2nd and 3rd row seats that we never have problems fitting everybody.

Weakness:

The DVD system controls are so complicated that none of us can work it. Oh, we can get the DVD to play, but only through the speakers. It's beyond rocket science to get both the front speakers playing the radio and the digital headphones playing a DVD simultaneously.

Great vehicle. Typical Honda quality, but there are a few aspects of the design that are not user-friendly.

Mitsubishi Montero (still own it); Ford Bronco II; two minivans; one full size van.

Strength:

Comfortable, Roomy, good satilite navigation, lots of places to put stuff, classy looks, simple clean design.

Weakness:

Wish it had heated seats (I'm sure 2004 will have them)...needs updated navigational DVD badly! (supposed to come out Fall 2003)...Steering Wheel controls should be backlit.

We are so glad we didn't go with the Explorer or Jeep Liberty when we had a chance. We love this car...wouldn't take the more expensive Acura if they begged us. It's just a comfortable car and does not feel like a truck or SUV...great for travel.

Strength:

Nice controlled ride, bumps are felt as muffled thumps. No need to haul out the 3rd row seat. Steering wheel controls for audio system not lighted. Fit and finish was superb. It's neat how they thought about what a typical family would want and need.

Weakness:

Pronounced but not excessive road rumble, not sure if it is because of the tires(Bridgestone Duelers) or because everything else is quiet. Awkward gear shift lever. Kept pulling windshield wiper stalk initially. Steering wheel controls not lighted. No space under 2nd row seats to stow snacks and medicine kit.No sunroof option.

Had a Eddie Bauer Ford Expedition that started making strange noises. Dealer couldn't figure it out. The Expedition fulfilled our needs but did not want to be left stranded in the middle of nowhere. Honda Pilot had features we wanted in a smaller more efficient package. Bought it 3 days ago. So far so so good. My first car was Honda Civic CRX and it was rock solid reliable. I sent my requirements as well as copy of Consumer Reports wholesale price guide to different dealerships here in OKC and in Dallas. Best price at Eskridge. Got in close to 8 p.m. closing time but they treated us very well. No sign of impatience or arrogance. Went through all the features and answered our questions with good humor and respect. Traded our Expedition in and have not regretted it. Big difference. The Pilot drives like a car whereas the Expedition even with air suspension still drove like a truck. Pilot's interior is less plush even with leather compared to Eddie Bauer Expedition but it does cost $5000 less.

Ford Expedition(see above) Toyota Highlander(smaller but just as, if not more expensive, quieter) Toyota Sequia(similar to Expedition, 3rd row seat needs to be hauled out) Acura MDX(smaller inside,

Strength:

Smooth ride Excellent sound system Spacious Conservative design Comfortable and quiet Its a Honda

Weakness:

My 2 kids loves clicking those lights by the handle

Awesome SUV! still in the break in period and loving it! The conservative design should enable it to survive the in and out fadish wave of designs (Aztek for example). Ride is smooth and comfortable with the automatic temparature working like a champ. Interior is flawless and simple, with cellphone holder which seems to be intendly designed for my slim Sanyo cellphone. Spacious cargo is a plus. My other choice is the Highlander Limited and I am pretty happy that the Toyota dealer didn't budge on their asking price of 30,000. ( Im only asking 500.00 less, 29500.) That was my best failed bargaining this year. I ended up with a better deal with the Pilot EX-L with side steps. I paid 30500.00 and no tax! I love Tennessee!

Weakness:

Honda vehicles

I agree that there are many fake reviews from the Honda products. This vehicle used to have bad ratings and now, all of a sudden, go up quickly. Thanks for letting everybody know of those Honda employees writing their reviews. I used to have a Honda Accord and I got rid of it five years ago to buy an Isuzu Amigo because so much money spending to keep it running. I'm glad that I buy an Isuzu and I will stick with Isuzu because they make "GREAT" vehicles. Not surprised why Honda buys Isuzu vehicles for their production. No matter how they advertise or lure people to buy their Honda products, I'm not gonna buy any products from them again.

Strength:

No complaints

Weakness:

Honda needs to have a 0% financing like everyone else.

I got my wife out of the Mommymobile/Minnivan! She likes her new Pilot. I can't help feeling that even though it's a fine automobile I paid too much for it,33,700.00 tax and all on 6% interest, when most all others is 0% financing.

Strength:

Just about everything... overall it's an outstanding vehicle.

Weakness:

Just minor things... nothing that wouldn't keep me from buying one (or another Honda) again.

Considering all the other midsized SUV's on the road, the Pilot was a good choice for me. I was interested in the Toyota Highlander, but it was nearly the same amount as the Pilot in price, yet it lacked the room. Unlike the previous poster, I don't see a problem with tires, although I do agree that the gas mileage is just marginal. I had better gas mileage from my minivan. I have the cloth seats in my Pilot and judging from some other posts, it sounds like it is the best way to go. My one big gripe with the Pilot is that the steering wheel has only about an inch worth of movement up or down. That's not nearly enough. Also, the power seats don't move very far in any direction. The Pilot does have plenty of space and is very roomy inside which is why I couldn't see paying the ridiculous amount for an MDX when the Pilot is the same vehicle as the MDX and the Oddessy.
