Actually, I have a Tahoe because I knew the Chevy dealer. However, I have a roof leak that is impossible to duplicate with a hose. I have heard of other Yukon/Tahoe owners with roof leak problems. Does anyone know the solution? Stan |

gas milage - what else? While I agree with everyone's opinion on GMC's service reputation, I am thankful that my Yukon has been fairly trouble-free. It has been a great truck and still looks mint but it's getting to be time to think about buying another vehicle. The only few times I had to get warranty I was greeted by a pit bull of a service writer who questioned my request. I only hesitate buying another GMC product because of this unfortunate history with the local dealer. Similar Products Used: volvo, saab |

It's been in the shop for a total of 2 days to find a leak in the roof. They rulled out the sun roof. They can't duplicate the conditions when it leaks. water has been collecting in the overhead consol for the front and top controls. It spills out when going around tight turns. or just driving it off in the mornings after it had rain, Thats the only problem weve had Over all it is a nice car |

nice features, we bought it fully loaded.
Weakness:
poor service dept.; poor gm contact two months after purchasing car, there was a grinding/shaking when taking a right turn when merging or leaving a roadway. taking it to dealership they had trouble replicating it so we had to show them. they admitted there was a problem but called the next day to say it was normal when using the tc (traction control) and not to use it. that there was no damage being done to the vehicle. the brakes have slowly become "soft" over time and they say this is normal abs operation. i asked for this in writing from the dealership who told us that they replicated the same problem in a brand new 2004 off the lot and that we could drive it to compare. Similar Products Used: none, and trust me in the future i will stick to toyota for my vehicles. how sad the domestic business has become that their service/products have become unreliable. |

Good looks. Great for our family of 5 with plenty of extra room. Powerful 8.1 liter engine.
Weakness:
GMC Customer Support. GMC Customer Service. GMC Service department. Transmission problems all the way. The engine sounds a little rattley upon startup and warmup, lifters I suppose. One of the most beautiful vehicles in its "SUV" class. It doesn't take much to make this vehicle look good. Lots of little things wrong with the vehicle right off the showroom floor. Folding rear seat cables not attatched, broken latches, blown stereo speakers, loose bolts and a slipping bump-n-grind kinda thing going on with the transmission. Don't expect to get much help from GM or your local Goodwrench Dude if you experience much more than let's say, low tire pressure perhaps or a bum wiper blade arm. The people that you would expect should back thier products up simply don't seem to give a rip if they've sold you a lifetime of problems or not. All the little problems thank goodness seemed to evaporate away. Still having problems with backing out of the driveway in the morning, putting it in drive and not going anywhere. Rio Rancho GMC says it's just a quirk that is common with the 4180E transmission and there is nothing they can do. The embarrassment of seven of your passengers yelling in unison, " What was that noise?" or "Are we gonna make it?" is hard to deal with knowing that GM is laughing all the way to the bank. Transmission is a garbage. Also had to replace the u joints. Awesome truck....although with any used vehicle you will have problems. I could tow anything and had great power. I also showed a couple of punks up in their little sports cars. This truck has POWER! I did have to rebuild the transmission at 75,000 miles. Don't let things like that turn you away. Great truck. Too many small problem break downs and the corp. folks gave too much push back when I talked to the detroit offices. Serious lack of customer concern regarding after sale problems and design, look at Toyota's newest mini van, they actually talked to the users. The major three US mfgs could learn somethning from Lexus and Toyota. WEll, within a year the battery died, hood latch broke, dash began to peal, gas gauge went bad, horn went bad and I still have not been able to determine why the dang thing continues to slip after i come to a stop and begin to leave an interstection or a stop. Too many little things. Amazin, I acutally made my way to Mr. Waggoner's office via phone, he is the CEO of GMC, and his staff gave me push back on things. They have lost any sense of customer feedback and complaint. I have owned one chevy pick up, one gmc pick up, one chevy blazer and we recently purchased a chevy tahoe. last damn gmc product i buy after talking to Waggoner's office. Too much "too bad, sorry, BS." I had some major problems with my first gm product, chevey pick up, couple of thousand over the warranty, and they took care of it all. The staff in Waggoner's office said maybe we can shar the cost of the gas gauge, which is the latgest thing to break, and it is after the warranty. My next 4x4/SUV/off road vechicle will be a Toyota/Lexus. And damn it, I used to be big time gm guy. They have just gotten arrogant and lack any sense of customer relations. Well, simply put, they loos my money. Oh, the lady in Waggoner's office said they might give more considration to cost sharing on the repairs if they knew about our vechilce ownership, this was after i told her how many gm's we have owned. The tahoe is the last. Praise the Lord for the Japanese cars! And they are event made in the U.S. I am sorry we got rid of my wife's Lexus. Stupid me! |

Haven't driven it enough to determine, only put a little over 2600 miles on it. Ipurchased this Yukon on July 31,2003 and within the first month the battery died. This SUV is not driven everday so I assumed the battery was defective. The dealer installed another battery for me and again in a few days it was dead. This has been an ongoing problem with this being the sixth or seventh trip to the dealer for repairs with a total of over sixty days at the dealer. It is at the dealer now on its 32 consective day at this writing. The dealer has done everything he could to rectify the problem with no sucess so I contacted GMC customer service for help in getting my Yukon repaired, still no repair. I have taken other avenues now to get my problem resolved but running into a lot of resistance from GMC. Most uncomfortable leather seats I have ever sat in. Steering problems. Handling problems. I have been a long time user of GM vehicles and this vehicle has been in the shop more than all of the other vehicles I have owned. Nothing major, just little things. I currently have 5 GM vehicles in my driveway and garage, so I'm used to them. The problem that I am having repeat problems with is the steering shaft. I have several friends that have the same problem. Just this morning, I'm dropping the YUKON off at the dealer and someone overheard my conversation with the tech and was having her YUKON in for the same thing. GM NEEDS A RECALL OF ALL TAHOE AND YUKON STEERING SHAFTS. Similar Products Used: Have 2000 Chevrolet truck, and have had "0" problems with it. |
