Only one more year on my lease!ú

Weakness:

Undependable; unsafe; low quality

If this demonstartes GM's commitment to quality, the company is DEAD!!! What a rotten vehicle...in the shop time and time again for front and rear suspension problems; engine surges; mirrors have a mind of their own; tiny gas tank; no traction control, and this vehicle spins its wheels even in 4-wheel drive and 4-Hi...DANGEROUS!!! Uncomfortable ergonomics; now the computer is going wacky , and I'm never sure if the Envoy will operate or not!Ô

you name it

I have to tell you I hate my Enoy. The first two weeks my air went out. They said they have to reprogram. Then the mirrors went out, the controls on the steering coloum went out, there is some kind of vibrations, the truck keeps stalling, there is some kind of chatering when your going more than 5mph. AND THAT IS JUST THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG. I am now looking to sue GMC AND I THINK ANY ONE WITH A RIGHT MIND WILL FOLLOW SUITE. The envoy looks great but what is a 30,000 shell.

Transmission Battery Software replaced way too often Stalling

I purchased my Envoy about 21/2 years ago and the first year was great but after that it was all downhill. I've taken it to the dealership to be fixed 6 times and it's at the dealership as we speak. My truck loves to stall all the time and I've taken it in and it works for about a month and after that it starts to stall again. The transmission is also messed up although the dealership can't seem to find anything wrong with it. When yout take off you hear the engine roaring and it skips from 1st gear alll the way to 4th even if you're only moving 10 miles an hour. The 'software' has had to be replaced 2 times already and the problem that I'm having now is that my 7 year battery has only worked 3 years which has left me stranded without a vehicle. I'm hoping that it's only the batter but it's being checked out as we speak so who knows.

Transmission(hope this will not happen again) AC slow to cool in traffic. Engine surges at stop sometimes Seat memory Rear hatch handle fell off

I have loved my Envoy right up to 42,000miles. Then it left me standing on the side of the road.My dealer said Reaction Gear Set and Sun Shell in the transmission just came apart.I was out of warranty at 36,000 but my dealer fixed it for free including towing. The total bill was over $ 1,000.00. The vehicle has never been stressed with towing or four wheel off road use. I hope this won't happen again but who knows. I do know Capitol GMC has been great on everything from oil changes to the transmission. I will buy from them next time. But it won't be a Envoy. Probably a 3/4 ton four door truck.

Strength:

Great look, awesome features, smooth ride, nice handling.

Weakness:

Terrible gas mileage, eats front engine parts, and is a money pit.

I have very mixed feelings about my Envoy. I purchased it almost two years ago, used, from a nearby dealership we always buy from. I got a great price, but since then I have had nothing but problems with my Envoy. So far I have had 2 Ball Joints, 3 Wheel Barings, and an Idler arm replaced. My fuel gauge broke and had to be replaced for over $500, my water pump broke, and my car go stuck in park!! And these are only the big things! Now my hood wants to un-hook while I am driving because something sticks, my passenger side mirror has a mind of its own and moves itself while the car is parked, my sun visor mirror broke, and my gas mileage is horrible!!! I love my car- I love the heated seats, sun roof, 6-disk CD changer, storage compartments, and style; however I am tired of paying for the problems. Maybe that's what I get for buying a used vehicle, but I know I will never buy another Envoy again.

Strength:

Smooth ride, reasonable towing ability, looks.

Weakness:

Poor reliability, unsatisfactory warranty service, sloppy handling, mediocre brakes.

My 2002 Envoy is the worst vehicle I have owned in the last 35 years in terms of reliability and build quality. It has been in the shop eight times in 32,000 miles for problems ranging from the merely annoying (mirrors will not return to their preset positions) to the potentially fatal (engine suddenly dies at highway speeds). In addition, there are two still-unresolved problems. Intermittently, there is a heavy grinding, clacking noise and shudder from the left rear when starting from a stop while turning. The service department has not been able to reproduce this problem. The other problem is a droning vibration at 60-70 mph. Many other Envoy, Trailblazer and Bravada owners have complained about a similar vibration. In August, 2003, GM finally recognized the problem in a Technical Service Bulletin (Vibration at Highway Speeds - suspension wheel #PI012373A ). Their “fix” for the problem is to declare that this defect is normal. I quote from the TSB: “This vibration is considered a normal characteristic for these vehicles and no repair attempts should be made.” Based on my experiences, I would not recommend the Envoy or any of its brand-mates, nor will I purchase another GM product.

Good power. Decent fuel economy. Stong for towing mid sized loads. Great looks.

Weakness:

None so far.

I bought my Envoy a few months ago, and cant be happier. Its the smoothest ride, good power, great for towing mid sized loads, has a very functional interior, and its not all bad on gas. I read all your other reviews with people crying about their trucks, so I thought i would write one. I have had no problems what so ever with my envoy. Of course you have to be carefull who and were you buy from, but that goes with all vehicles.

Strength:

Good ride and enough power

Weakness:

Poor gas mileage and reliability

The Envoy is an excellenct riding SUV with poor gas mileage. I have been getting somewhere around 15 mpg at best. I have had the battery replaced after four days. The low pressure air conditioner switch has been replaced. Now I have a problem with vehicle not starting. It just cranks and cranks. I let it sit for a couple of minutes and then it will start. It runs like it is only operating on a few cylinders and then will run smooth. I have had to the dealer and they cleaned the fuel injecters. It only has 5000 miles. I am taking it back to the dealer tonight for another try at repairing the problem. By the way the Dealer has been great to deal with so far, so I have no complaints there. I think I just got a lemon.

Strength:

Looks good, would look even better in someone else's garage!!!

Weakness:

Third ROW seat operation is lame, you have to operate from the front - STUPID!!! AC is weak. Radio system is lacking in BASS - Need a SUB. Noisy Transmission. Bad front console design - cup holders are useless. No DVD player and sunroof combo, ABSOLUTLEY NO REASON FOR THIS, plenty of room to have both. Paint is CRAP, try using something a little better than water color paint. Bird poop permantly damages the finish, and the paint does not stick to the metal very well (EX.-> when the replaed my window and half the paint went with it!!! Shiny Aluminum Mags are very hard to keep clean - Have them on a Grand Prix (no troubles with that). Drivers 1/2 memory has Alzheimers, does not work very well. No input on the Radio for external source. Weatherstripping should stick to vehicle, not fall off when you open the doors!

GMC is Professional Grade??? I would hate to see their consumer grade. This is the biggest pile of crap I have ever owned. I have had it around 3 months now, and I have tried every possible method to recover my money on this LEMON! Anyway you try to get rid of a new vehicle you will loose anywhere from $1,500 to $3,000.00. I have had the amplifier break after 1 month. The driver rear vent window leaked, they replaced that - when replacing the window, the old window took some paint with it, so now I have to get the stupid thing painted. The front drivers leather seat ripped. Weatherstripping around doors falls off occasionally. Today, the rear hatch broke, making it useless. I can only hope that all these service trips will add up to 30 days within one year, then I can officially hack this piece of crap under Wisconsin's Lemon Law!!! I actually called GMC and they really did not care about it, they insist they stand behind their vehicles. Which they do, unfortunately, they are only offering repairs each time - which is REQUIRED under the warranty!!!! Not really much of a stance!

Nothing reall similar, Like SUV's (room to breathe), but next vehicle WILL NOT BE GM - For $40,000 - I think we will look into other manufacturers.
