Strength:
Powerplant and styling. Brakes and Ride. Interior space and heating/AC system
Weakness:
Seat belts sometimes don't wanna let go. Heard there is a recall for these belts. Great styling, eye-catching looks. First week I got it, everywhere I go people would ask me what kind of SUV is that and they would believe that it was GMC that made it. Some even would trade their 2001 for this one. Similar Products Used: Ford Explorer, MB ML320, Dodge Durange and Acura MDX. Styling match or exceed competitors. Powerplant is definitely out score the competitiors. Especially for the price of the vehicle. |

GMC Envoy SLT
Strength:
Fit and Finish, Engine and Transmission, exterior design and interior ammenities, overall design both exterior and interior.
Weakness:
Would like to have a key-pad additional to remote entry fob, but you can call OnStar and they can open doors if you lock your keys inside. After driving Ford Explorer, Grand Cherokee, and Dodge Durango, the Envoy stood out well above the rest. Great fit and finish, wonderful styling in and out, 270 HP engine and proven transmission. We found the Envoy to suit our needs. It is bigger than an explorer, but handles wonderfully so that even Patricia (4'11") can command. We especially liked the instrumentation, Driver Command Center and Memory positions for seats, mirrors, radio and Lumbar support. The mirrors even tilt to a different angle for backing up automatically. The commercial towing package is wonderful. The Bose system is second to none. On the road, we are already getting 22 mpg, and the ride is better than our Pontiac Bonneville. There is vertually no road noise or wind noise, and the 17" Michelins eat up the highway. Similar Products Used: So much better than the Ford Explorer, it is unbelievable. And Dodge Durange is not even in same league. Engine puts it head and shoulders above all other SUVs in class. |

Strength:
Interior, quiet ride, bose sound system is a must, European style and feel, quick and crisp acclleration for an inline 6...
Weakness:
None found. Small gas tank, but gets pretty good gas milage for an suv. EXTREMELY excellent vehicle. I own the 2002 SLT envoy that is different from the picture shown. The envoy is luxurious and powerful. I would recommend this SUV to anybody with the money to buy it over a mercedez or what not. Similar Products Used: I also own a lincoln navigator, and it is the same thing, just a bit smaller. |

Strength:
It's the most driving fun that I've had in years. This SUV turns a lot of heads. My co-workers compliment the looks and the ride. It is a very smooth ride. Excellent turning radius, too - I look for reasons to make a U-turn! The controls are very easy to reach. My wife and I love how we sit "high" and have a very good view of the countryside through the large driver's and front passenger's windows. The rear hatch makes it very easy to load/unload all kinds of stuff. The rear bed sits at what I consider to be the perfect height. I'm 5' 11", if that tells you anything.
Weakness:
"Service engine soon" light wouldn't stay off immediately after taking delivery (vehicle bought straight off the delivery truck). The dealer's service department, in coordination with GM, finally decided to replace the engine, as other servicing didn't seem to fix the problem. Upon picking up the vehicle (after using a rental car for 2 1/2 weeks!), I was told that they had two additional 2002 Envoy's in the shop with the same problem. I haven't seen a recall on this problem, and may not. Just be aware that this may happen to future buyers. This is my pick-o'-the-litter. A fun SUV. As much car as it is truck, I have no regrets (however, see "Weaknesses") buying this vehicle. It satisfies all of my needs. Better cargo capacity/capability than my previous vehicle (1998 Bonneville SSEi), and possibly a better ride, too. Better gas mileage and handling (steering, parking, etc.) vs the Tahoe/Yukon that I was considering. It is a terrific "land cruiser;" it has made my wife and I travel the countryside looking for new places to go every weekend. I'll definitely think twice about driving (vs. flying) on my future vacations. It's almost embarrassing to see just how many "rubber-neckers" there are on the road that look at my Envoy. While most people will glance at a new car, these guys and gals will contort their necks trying to see just what that vehicle is. I almost feel like my fly's open! Way to go, GMC Envoy design team! P.S. The Envoy is much better looking vs its twin, the Chevy Trailblazer. Similar Products Used: 1991 Chevy Blazer, 1998 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi (my last two vehicles). I like the ride and maneuverability of the Envoy better than either of my previous vehicles. |

Strength:
Like the power to weight ratio. Feels good.
Weakness:
Am very frustrated with the oil leaks and apparent weaknesses in the fit & finish. Doors rattle too much going over bumps. Has too much wind noise at highway speeds. Now at one month it is still leaking oil from the rear of the eingine. First time dealer said it was oil pan bolts left loose. Last time, rear main seal is gone. Parts on order! What's this? It was leaking on the first day and is still leaking at almost 1,800 miles. Looking for help outstide of GM now. Similar Products Used: GMC Yukon, should have kept it. Two Grand Cherokees and one Dorango. The Yukon still my choice. |

the bose system is awesome i had a custom system in my old f150 and the bose kills it, handles like a dream close to the ground drives like a sports car and it is a very pretty suv.
Weakness:
it could have better rims on it and make it look more classy with different rims other then that its great. i love the new 2002 GMC Envoy i like the look alot better then the yukon denali or the newest yukon my brothers both have yukons and i think my vehicle blows them away looks, driving and handling why's. Similar Products Used: compares definitly to the 2002 trailblazer by chevy, since it is basically the same vehicle also along with the bravada by oldsmobile. |

Weakness:
see above I hate this car. Yes it looks nice, blah, blah, blah. This car has broken down twice in the 1 month I have had the car. It stops without notice and has put my life in danger. The car stopped in the middle of a 4 lane freeway the first time. GMC cant fix the problem. This car seems unreliable and dangerous. Its a real shame that GMC cant make cars that stay on the road. If anyone has experienced similar problems, please e- mail me. I would advise that no one buy this car. I didnt buy a brand new car for it to sit in the shop. This car put my life in danger and I dont trust it. I am close to getting lawyers involved. Similar Products Used: None |
