Strength:

Bose speakers, the sound system. Powertrain. Everything about the interior.
Towing ability.

Weakness:

Needs an entire new frame after getting airborn 3ft and "bottoming-out", on a few small rocks out in the desert. Sorry mom, My mistake.

The Yukon DENALI is a big soft toad, good for many purposes but off-roading, ah no. Maybe a somewhat muddy dirt road, or a snowy highway would be ok. Go for the off-road package Yukon for adventure on the trails.

Strength:

Monster power plant, great tranny
Tows 6,000lbs easy
4x4 comes in handy
Easy steering for its weight
Comfortable seats
Nice stock sound system
The perfect travel machine
Cargo space
Superior to Expedition

Weakness:

Rear suspension to soft
Needs big thick chrome bumpers
Can I be in control of the lights please?

Denali is really a fine SUV, one of the best. I do recommend it, however the restyled 2000 Yukon looks better, has a third seat and is even a hair or two wider inside than my 99 Yukon Denali. Wait, there is no 2000-2001 Yukon DENALI is there?

Strength:

Bose Stereo, heated seats for all passengers, center counsel, stock security system with adjustments, wood accents, towing capability.

Weakness:

Just an overpriced Yukon with a soft/useless suspension. Alot of creaks and rattles, guzzles gasoline, horrible handling, horrible stock tires, no sunroof option (for $47,000 ???), no climate control option, no third seat option, crappy looking leather seats compared to Escalade.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PIECE OF JUNK !! I traded in an SLE Yukon for this thing and it was a huge mistake. No third seat or sunroof option. It got stuck in a ditch and had to be pulled out by a tow truck. The stupid yuppie bumpers were scratched beyond belief and the fog lamps were bent up into the housings, all from four inches of mud. The tires are NOT worth ten cents and wear down extremely fast. It handles like a boat and you feel like you are going to tip the thing when turning. There is no automatic climate control or the option for it. It had more creaks and rattles then a 1977 VW bug and GMC could NOT get rid of them. I did like the BOSE stereo which sounded excellent and the center counsel layout with the wood. This is not a truck worth $47k. The newly designed Tahoe's and Yukons are much nicer and have much better engines, plus they have climate control, sunroofs, memory seating, and are 5-10k cheaper. If you want to look like a pimp buy one of these stupid wanna be SUV's.

Model Reviewed: / Cadillac Escalade

Strength:

Cadillac Escalade looks great on the road (As nice as the Denali), let's face it they are almost the same vehicle, has lots of power and comfort while driving. Lots of room. Gets lots of compliments.

Weakness:

Missing some nice features like driver memory settings (driver 1 / driver 2) and steering wheel stereo controls. Rear head rest are difficult to deal with when lowering rear seats for extra cargo room.

1500 down $550 a month for 36 months / 36000 miles - special Cadillac lease program makes up for the few weaknesses. If the program is still around it is a bargain. List price $46,500.00

Strength:

Smooth power, fit and finish. Great factory stereo. Dealer was unbelievable one person handled me from an email to financing in a record time, I have never experienced anything like that in the past.

Weakness:

Body rake from factory should be corrected by GM. Too much body lean and roll from factory, should be corrected by GM with stiffer bars.

I LOVE this thing. Only a few minor complaints and they had to do with handling and lowering. I wanted to lower the rear to level out the look of the truck and found at this time no one has a kit. Helwig sway bars settled the truck right down and took the bob and sway out of it. Used a Hypertech coputer programmer to dial it in and went with 295/20 tires and this thing now reallyyyyyyyyyy handles and hauls ass!!!!!!!!!!! Was apprehensive about giving up my 5.9 R/T Durango but I have no regrets at this time.

Strength:

Excellent finish both interior & exterior, Its very quiet on the highway, Awesome sound system, Very strong engine, Full-Time 4 Wheel Drive, Short turning radius (smaller than my Jeep!), and lots of other gizmo-gadgets installed as standard (such as trip/time computers, rear & drivers electrochromatic mirrors, on-star system, courtesy lights everywhere - even in the front drink holders, etc.)

Weakness:

Haven't found one yet! (except maybe for the particularly bad gas milage but then I didn't buy it for its fuel economy anyway.....)

I have only had the Denali for 5 days now and I have to say that my first impressions of this vehicle are - its wonderful! I traded my Jeep Grand Cherokee in for the Denali and couldn't be happier. I have already driven it over 700 miles and absolutely love the quality of the car, its handling on the road, its Full-Time 4 wheel drive system, how incredibly quiet it is and especially the dual air conditioning system!

I did test drive the Toyota Sequoia Limited and Lincoln Navigator in my comparisons and I did like the other vehicles. The Sequoia is new (very nice looking exterior too) and the dealers wanted List Price Plus for it. The engine was very week and I just couldn't handle spending that much for a Toyota Truck. The Lincoln is nice too but its resale value is particularly bad. Plus, I wanted a luxury suv that didn't carry the Cadillac or Lincoln name - its just too flashy.....

The Denali fit the bill and had the most bang-for-the-buck options and capabilities of any of the trucks I looked at or considered. It looks very tough (my wife said she won't drive it - it looks like a Man's car ... Fine with Me!) and I have had several friends who have or had Tahoes or Suburbans and all had very high regards for their vehicles. So I went with my gut.....

It blows away my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee in both Fit & Finish, Power, and Luxury. It even compares better in luxury features to my wifes Lexus RX300 and has significantly more room!

Strength:

Lots of Room. More headroom for a tall man than any of the new ones. I think it's due to the lower and wider denali seats, but may also be due to roofline. Tons of onboard toys.

Weakness:

Fat and thirsty. 12 mpg city. Yikes! Smushy ride compared to 2000's.

Not nearly as trim and tight as the new ones, but bought in August 2001 with 31k miles for $850 less than a bare bones 2001 2wd Tahoe LS. To me, the interior is so nice, I can live with the old style body and goofy plastic exterior.

The new Yukons are faster, have better handling and get better mileage. They also cost about $10,000 more.

The plastic bumpers would be a joke off road. But for us, this is just a big plush station wagon.

Even with 31k, there are some rattles. Nothing broken. Driver's seat is a little worn.

Despite others comments about mechanical flaws etc, I have heard good things about the 350 engine and GM Trucks in general.

Buy this car if you want room, interior luxury, don't drive 50K mi/yr and don't plan on going off road.

Strength:

Two-tone leather, 6 disc cd changer w/ a single cd player, excellent stereo, beautiful looks, PIMPIN' truck!

Weakness:

creaks & rattles, heated leather relays have gone out 3,000,000 times now, crappy steering wheel (the leather is peeling off!), to make a long story short, everything that I didn't mention in strengths.

I have had a lot of trouble with this truck. I went from a 1996 Chevy Tahoe LT w/ 200k miles to this w/ 50k miles. Luckily it is a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle because the Pontiac dealer has paid for about $2,800 worth of necessary engine, heated seat, and several other repairs. As a matter-of-fact, it's in the shop right now and I'm driving a Grand AM loaner! Despite it's problems it's a very beautiful truck. I don't like the factory rims...they're too small! The tires wore out very quickly. I paid $1500 for new ones when I bought it b/c the original tires had absolutely no tread left on them. DON'T TAKE IT OFF-ROADING! I drove it on a dusty road surrounded by ruts and it got stuck in dust. I had to call a frickin' tow truck to come out and drag me out of a rut in the middle of nowhere. If you buy the Denali make sure to get it's repair history from the dealership if possible. 50-50 chance you're going to get a lemon, like mine. Otherwise just treat it like a baby b/c it's as helpless in the real world as one. Hey does anyone out there want to buy a black, used 99 Denali...how about $27k?!
