Gas Mileage with A/C on, about 11-12 mpg Overall, My wife and I love this truck. Have about 21,000 miles so far. It rides great and has plenty of power. For oil changes I use only synthetic oil, because I believe in it and I think it's recommended. I also go about 5,000 miles between changes and so far so good. We use the A4WD anytime the roads are wet or in bad rain and it works great with no problems. Also we have used the 4WD a few times in the snow and it has also worked great. No more shoveling for me, thank god! Felt like I was a kid again back on my quad in the woods, anyway, the tires are OK, but will be looking for a new set at about 30,000 miles, something a little more aggressive. My recommendation is that if you are not pumping your own gas, you need to check the gas cap and make sure it is properly secured, the couple times it wasn't I stalled one time and had a few dashboard lights come on that made no sense. But once I tightened the cap the problems immediately stopped. Other than that we feel very confident in the truck and are glad we bought it. Plenty of room inside. Integrated my Verizon Cell Phone into the OnStar and it works seemlessly. There is less interior room than with my old Windstar but when you add 4wd and a higher ride deck, what can you expect, you learn to deal with it quickly. Gas Mileage 17/22. |

Strength:
Handles well, rides well, and is comfortable.
Weakness:
Customer service is almost non-existent. Chevy apparently has a problem with this model, as there is a service bulletin describing what to do if the engine stalls. I have been a loyal GM customer for years, but after the way Chevy has treated me, it is highly doubtful I will ever purchase another GM product again. GM needs to understand that part of their "quality and value" is the service network that stands behind the vehicle. Initially, I was very pleased with this truck. It rode and handled well, and was very comfortable. After about a year, the engine began stalling out in traffic. It also began idling very rough. It has been in the shop several times, and Chevy is unable to fix it. The vehicle has stalle dout several times and I am afraid to put my family in it. The most frustrating part of this event has been in getting a dealer to look at it. Most dealers in the Northern VA area won't even return phone calls to set up appointments. The one dealer who did look at it actually tried to tell me that following their service bulletin was something they considered routine maintenance and that it should not have been covered under warranty. Chevy has shown very little customer service or willingness to stand behind their product. As we speak, I have asked Chevy to re-purchase this vehicle, but I fully expect to have to take them to court. Similar Products Used: GMC Jimmy; Jeep Cherokee; Chevy Blazer |

UNRELIABLE, UNRELIABLE, UNRELIABLE, AND TOO EXPENSIVE TO MAINTAIN ALL THE PROBLEMS As I am writing this, my Trailblazer is in the shop for a $ 600 repair job. It has been in the shop twice for accelerator malfunction, several electrical problems, service engine lights, squeaks....and now with the warranty out, the clutch fan. It sound like an airplance trying to take off. As soon as I get it back, I am trading it. Too many problems for me. Similar Products Used: 2000 Mitsubishi Montero...Traded with 80000 miles and never in the shop. See it several times a week never missing a beat with the new owner. I need to try to get it back. |

everything else...along with the customer service...what is Chevy thinking when it brings these people in? I got cursed out a Chevy dealership because they thought I was not serious about buying. I drove an hour away to another dealership to buy...I guess I was serious. When I notified Chevy about this, they did nothing. Thanks Chevy. I purchased this vehicle in 2003. Just like everyone else, I've had numerous serious problems. I bought a platinum warranty which is "useless". Why would you buy a warranty if it doesn't cover the things that need to be fixed on your vehicle? Next time you buy a warranty, spend the $1500 on a new lawn mower. By the way, with all the problems Chevy won't fix, why hasn't anyone sued???? Similar Products Used: Monte Carlo...another $35,000 mistake. Thanks once again Chevy!! Your right..."like a rock". I'd rather drive a Ford. If you haven't gotten a clue yet, good luck in the future with the law suites. |

Weakness:
The whole thing I bought this vehicle back in February. The dealership that I bought my vehicle from was the worst dealership and had terrible customer service. I had a sunroof and running boards installed after market and had a lot of trouble with setting up the appointment with the dealership and having them stay true to promises that they made when we made the car deal. The owner's daughter who ran the dealership told me personally that if she knew it was going to be that much trouble after market she never would have made the deal. And trust me, I don't care if they were giving this vehicle away for free if I had known I was going to have the problems I had with them and this vehicle I never would have bought it. If I am listening to a cd and I turn the vehicle off, or if I switch to the FM radio and back to the cd player it does not always turn on. I told the dealership when I went back a week later to get the aftermarket products, but they didn't have enough time to look at it is what they said. Well maybe two months later the vehicle would start running hard, almost like the engine was kicking and it would almost cut out. It was a little scary to be honest. I took it into the shop, they said that 3 engine codes popped up but did not see the reason they popped up. They reprogrammed everything and now it is doing it again. When they fixed it, they went by a memo that Chevy sent out. Apparently other trucks have had this problem, but there is no "real" problem. Then just this morning I turned my vehicle on to warm up the engine and walked inside. I came back outside maybe three or four minutes later and I opened the door and it cut off. Just like that. Almost like a manual transmission cuts off when it stalls. I had to turn it off and turn it back on. Also, the lining on the ceiling is coming down, the plastic piece between the front driver and backseat door is coming off. My little brother jokes that the dealership found it on the side of the road and I was the dumb one to buy it. If I could go back and do it all over again I don't think that I would buy another one again. Although, my parents had a trailblazer in 2002 and had it for about a year and never had one problem with it. I guess I was one of the many unlucky ones who got stuck with a lemon... Weakness:
Transmission Lots of electrical problems Recalls and to many times in the shop This has to be the worst vehicle I've ever owned. First one week after I bought it the front passenger side floor had water in it after it rained. First I thought I had left the window down but it actually turned out the was a bad seal that allowed the water to come in. They finally figured it out after taking it in 3 times buy then the carpet was already ruined. Next was all the electrical problems that came. Tailights burning out, brakelights and front and rear windshield wipers all within the first six months. All the gauges at times do not come on when you start the vehicle also but that fixes itself when you turn the vehicle on and off again. There has been numerous recalls on the vehicle to fix stuff that should have been identified before the vehicle was put on the market. My wife had to put a new transmission in the vehicle while I was deployed to Iraq at 32,000 miles and only 2 years and 5 months from the time I bought it. Now at 50,000 miles I am having transmission problems again and this time its not under warranty and it will cost about at least 3,400 dollars to replace it. Needless to say I will never buy another GM vehicle. |

Fuel mileage (but we knew that going in, and saved enough on the purchase to buy a lot of regular gasoline, even at $3.00 per gallon. We love our Trailblazer. Have driven it for 8 months and 7500 miles, with no problems or issues whatsoever. We love the ride, the room, the power of the I6, and the driving ease. We were so pleased with this product that we recently purchased the identical-under the-skin, Isuzu Ascender. These are so much better in every way than the Jeep Grand Cherokees we have owned, and are every bit as good as the Tahoes and Suburbans. To other satisfied Trailblazer owners who are concerned by the negative consumer reviews, please keep in mind that Chevrolet has built and sold well over a million Trailblazers (284,000 2004's alone). Satisfied owners are the silent majority-they typically are not inclined to discuss their Trailblazers on the internet. One hundred dissatisfied owners does not mean that GM is producing bad products, or has a problem with these vehicles. This is a very popular vehicle (9th best selling vehicle in the USA). Naturally, the owners who are dissatisfied for whatever reason with any product are the ones who will seek out a forum to vent their frustration. Despite what some folks think, no brand or model of vehicle made can claim zero lemons or zero defects. Cheap speakers, I replaced mine the second week. The front seat took some getting used to. It's not a japaneese design, some flaws(back door seal sticks out) Could have more legroom for the back seat passangers. I was worried due to the bad posts re.this truck. After looking closly at the posts most of the problems might have been solved if the dealerships were better. I agree many Chevy dealerships could be improved. I purchased mine new 13 months ago and have 28000 miles on it. Other than a couple of computer reprogrammings it has been trouble free. I believe the 2004's have most of the bugs worked out of them. I would not buy one with all the electronic add on's (blinkers in the side mirros, electric/memory seats, ect) I think the computers can get overloaded. Mine has almost everything else and listed for $34,000. Paid 24 (really 22 with my GM credit card discout). 4X4 works great. Similar Products Used: AWD Chrysler Minivan, AWD Mecurey Mountaineer |
