Strength:
spacious for a small SUV.Good reliability,power(6cyl)Chick magnet!
Weakness:
average air conditioner.average stereo I bought mine to replace an S-10 pick-up because I needed more room.We fit 4 adults,an infant in a car seat & an 8 year old in the back & it handled just fine.I guess 2002 is the first year for fold down armrests in the front seats. The fabric on mine constantlyflattens out & looks like a factory defect. I've replaced 3 of them in 5000 miles & the newest one is doing the same. It's a good thing I have no problem with my masculinity because every women I talk to about it thinks its cute!I guess it starts a conversation anyway! Good headroom & the 6 cyl has enough power.Good car as long as your not expecting a cadillac. |

Strength:
spacious front interior, awesome steering, good off road 4x4, drives like a car
Weakness:
more power needed. the v4 does ok but a 6 would make a big difference. More accessories needed A great handling small SU with incredible steering. As with any small SUV you would think the interior would be cramped but being 6'2 I have plenty of leg room. Well worth the $$ Similar Products Used: Isuzu Trooper |

ZR2
Strength:
- I was surprised at how good the radio/CD sounds. Good bass. - For a little vehicle on a truck frame, it rides pretty good and I really like how responsive the handling is. - It's small enough to manuever in tight places. - Fit and finish is very good. - A/C is excellent, plenty of air movement adjustment. - It's a great towed vehicle. - I like the side opening rear door. - The rear passenger windows roll down all the way, not leaving 4 or 5 inches of glass exposed like many vehicles. - Plenty of flat cargo space with the rear seats folded.
Weakness:
- Leg space is pretty limited for rear seat passengers. - Like any true 4WD with a transfer case, the MPG is not great. I get about 20 MPG consistently. - There's a bit more wind noise than I'd like. - The cupholders are inconveniently located at the hip of driver and passenger. I earlier reviewed my ZR2 about a month after I got it. At that time, they were giving a $2,000 rebate, which was nice. It's been six months now. Since buying it, we've put 3,400 miles on it driving and another 2,000 towing. The miles don't register while towing. We bought it specifically to tow behind our motorhome. The ZR2 package is pretty complete with 2.5L 24 valve 6 cyl engine, CD/radio, power windows, brakes, steering, locks, 4 door, 4WD, roof rack, etc. The only added feature was ABS brakes. I am very pleased with my ZR2. It handles well, tracks perfectly when towed, and is just plain fun to drive. I was able to put the Roadmaster tow brackets on myself as a simple bolt on. The brackets are next to invisable. It's easy to set it up for towing. Similar Products Used: None. |

Strength:
Fun to drive, rugged, reliable, good crash ratings, inexpensive, good manual transmission, comfortable seats, driving position.
Weakness:
Small, not a great freeway car, resale value. Well, I got a GM credit card and $2,000 GM later had to buy a GM product. I considered the Impala and Blazer, but gave the Tracker a test drive. Then I checked consumer reports, which showed an excellent repair history for the Tracker, and awful for the Blazer. Also checked safety ratings, again good for Tracker and poor for Blazer. I found the Tracker unimpressive in my test drive, but I have grown to really like the feel of it. It definitely drives like a small car, but has surprising space (in the 4-door version) and elevated driving position. There was a snowstorm the first weekend after I brought it home, and the car performed remarkably with the 4 wheel drive. It's not as refined as the Rav-4 or the CRV, but with the rebates and the GM dollars it was thousands cheaper and actually feels more rugged and jeeplike (if that's a good thing, it was for me). I would actually suggest the 4 cylinder 5-speed - it increases the fun factor and efficiency. I've been getting 24 mpg and have had no problems in 6 months of driving (over 6k miles). If you're in the market for a small SUV, it definitely deserves a look. I'd also suggest getting the option package (it's worth it for the cruise control & power windows/locks), and maybe skipping the 4 wheel drive in favor of antilock brakes. |

Strength:
Low initial cost. Mileage is 25 on one and 27 on other. Dealer is great to work with on minor problems experienced under warranty. Easy to manuver. Fairly responsive for 4 cylinder engines. Look great. Placement of controls is nice (easy to reach). Like the rear fold down seats.
Weakness:
Ignition switch failed on one - part cost $185. You cannot buy switch separate from key tumbler. Installed switch myself. Second ignition switch is starting to fail on second vehicle. We are unable to turn key completely off at times. Air conditioner compressor clutch just failed on one vehicle. Part cost $1200 plus 2 hours labor. Dealer gets $7.00 for replacement keys. Replaced one mirror at a cost of $100. This is the start of an expensive vehicle to own. Noisy on road. Unstable in wind. Interior is poor fit - vents don't stay put. Plastic rivets that hold wheel liners deteriorate and fall off. Screws on license plates squeak - have yet to find a permament fix. Bumper strips on side of vehicle separate (glue lets loose). Engines will not start when temperature is below -10 degrees F. Block heater fixes problem but cost $200 to have installed. Don't store alloy wheels where they can deteriorate as they sell for $350 each. We own two 1999 Trackers with 2.0 L engines. Vehicles are fun to drive. Convienent size although a bit small for hauling things. One vehicle now has 78,000 miles and the second has 35,800 miles. We purchased all accessories. Like the CD player. back hatch opening out instead of up, easy to get into and out of. Great parking size and great gas mileage.
Weakness:
Not worth printing I really got this car because it was higher and easier to get in and out with bad knees, but was so surprised at how much I love driving it. I researched all the small SUV's before getting the Tracker and found it rated as good if not better in accidents and owners seemed happy with it. It has the best of both worlds with driving higher on the road not feeling overwhelmed by trucks on the freeway and using it for a commute with good gas mileage. I love the 4 door access and that the back hatch opens out instead of up and easier to use and open. I will surely get another in a couple years when this one is paid off. Not one problem or need to see the dealer. |

Cute, small, inexpensive - what do you expect you dont get any bells and whistles - handles well - however, I must admit i am terrified of the "warning high roller over risk" on my sun visor
Weakness:
abs should not be optional - cup holders not in a good area, no leg room in second seat - i traded in my venture since it was bouncing all over the place and the inside looked like crap - this tracker that cost 15,470.00 after a 3000.00 cash back ended up costing me 22,000! I bought the 5 speed manual transmission and the urging of my husband - not a good choice since i have a previously broken foot and a current broken toe - i called the dealer to see if he would work with me on trading it in - basically he said i was stuck Similar Products Used: Venture? |

Strength:
fits into any parking spot, rear seats fold down flat for extra cargo.
Weakness:
i think the resale value is less than many of the competitors like the CRV or RAV 4. Overall I have been pleased with the Tracker. I live in nyc so parking was an issue and because it is short and has a good turning radius it fits into parking spots other cars cannot. love the ability to fold down the rear seats to carry extra cargo. i have 30,000 miles on my tracker and have had only minor problems (radio light, squeak in the clutch) although i have heard a tapping noise coming from underneath the drivers seat, dealer said it was normal and it has not given me any problems. the back seats dont have alot of legroom but in the front i am very comfortable and i am 6''3. the high ground clearence has helped with the nyc pot holes. LT Tracker
Strength:
I cannot comment until I get the problems fixed.
Weakness:
There is a lot of plastic put into the vehicle. It is difficult to handle in windy conditions. I have to return to the dealer 3 times to locate and eliminate tapping noises seemingly comming from the front doors in the area closest to the rear view morrors. The first visit resulted in adhesive applied to the plastic shield on the outside of the botton of the windshield. Did not help the poblem. Next, the front passenger side door panel was removed and the plastic there to keep water out of the vehicle was loose. The plastic was secured. Did not solve the problem. Third time, metal screws were inserted into the frame through plastic covers located just behind the front wheels. No help. I am wondering who can identify the cause of the annoying clacking sounds and eliminate them. I will keep returning to the dealer to get the problem repaired. I hope that the Tracker LT is not a lemon. |

Can''t beat it for round town shopping (assuming it''s for nothing larger than what you can carry in a bag) and fits in a lot of parking spots the big guys can only envy...works pretty darn good when the snow flies too. Good Dealer response to all complaints...not fixed in every case, but nice to visit with otherwise.
Weakness:
Have never seen a sleazier interior in any vehicle.. must be the cheapest plastic used... maybe they have finally found a use for recycled milk cartons. Dollar for dollar the worst piece of junk I''ve ever bought, and I''ve bought more than my share. However the little bugger tends to grow on you after you get used to the dimestore interior and the wretched wind noise which makes the radio a totally wasted accessory over 45 mph. The vehicle we have has the 4 cyl. engine with auto and air and gas mileage is not equal to our Windstar 3.8 V6. I definitely void using it on freeways with a speed limit over 65mph and it can''t handle the Cruise Control it came without shifting itself to death over 60 mph. In short, it has very little to recommend it, but my wife likes it and so I guess, enuff said!
