Strength:

compact but sturdy, great gas milage, fun to drive, plenty of room and power for us, affordable

Weakness:

wish the tracker had better sound system. we'll be installing a better stereo

This compact SUV is the best of both worlds. We enjoy it for errands as well as for road trips. The gas milage is fantastic. We also love the Chevrolet warranty and road assistance program. It's been fun to drive and easy to maintain. We highly recommend this car for young couples who are looking for something reliable and at an affordable price.

Great on Gas! Considerable amount of leg room. Great all around visability

Weakness:

No arm rest! No CD Player.

The Chevrolet Tracker's performance really surprised me. Having drove on other SUV's the ride is very good...handles the road well even in adverse conditons. Solid Vehicle!

Model Reviewed: 4 door 4x4, standard

Strength:

Styling, gas milage, visibility, easy to parallel park, fairly comfortable ride for a SUV.

Weakness:

4 wheel drive was "sticky" at first, hard to get into 4WD but this has improved. There were also several recalls, service bulletins and annoying little problems that required me to return to the dealer over and over during the first 6 months. They are all fixed now. This little guy is also a bit hard to handle in high winds; gets pushed around a lot.

I really like this little SUV. I think it is great for a person who wants 4WD, more clearance than a car, and the ability to go off-road without having to buy a huge vehicle. This car has good pick-up and the ride is definately more comfortable than my husband's truck. We took this vehicle cross country last summer (from NH to CA). It gave us a comfortable ride and held all of our camping gear. We did some pretty rugged off-road driving out west, and it handled very well.
The front seats provide ample room, but the rear seats are a little cramped. I found it helpful to remove the rear seat head rests (when there are no passengers, of course) to improve rear visibility. Some of the controls are not in the most convenient places (i.e., you have to push a button on the dash to the L of the steering wheel to enable cruise control, then set cruise on handle on wheel.)

I thought it was more attractive than the other small SUVs available at the time (Toyota RAV4, Suburu Forester, Honda CR-V). It was also priced quite a bit less with similar accessories/options.

no arm rest and the tires are not very impressive

Very nice for going around town plenty of room for kids and dogs , Great on gas milage . Should have went with 6cly but the 4 cyl has plenty of get up and go . I wold like to see better tires on it the tiger paws do not impress me . I live in Iowa and the snow tends to get deep the tracker had enough ground clearance . Gas milage, price, reliablity.

Weakness:

Soft top takes a long time to get on and off....if it starts raining and your top is down....you are going to get wet!

Excellent price with extended warranty. Great milage. If you are using this for a second vehicle or to commute, this would be the perfect vehicle. If you have more than one child then this is not the vehicle for you. There is not a lot of room for groceries if the whole family goes shopping in it.

Strength:

easy to park, off road handles great, great cd player
and sound, air conditioner works great in this summer heat wave,
comfortableand plenty of room for passengers and all our gear.

Weakness:

cruise control button on left hand side of panel,
back head rests can get in the way of rear vision, no
middle arm rest.

So far so good. I really have enjoyed my new 4 door, 4x4 tracker!
It handles well and is very easy on gas. And very sporty looking.
Many of my friends have said it is the "ulitimate chick truck".
I totally agree.

Strength:

All around value and capability for the small price

Weakness:

Dealing with the Chevy salesman who obviously makes a lot more cash selling the bigger rigs.

Overall, this is a superb vehicle that fits a lot of different needs. It is a great little commuter; I am getting over 25mpg and it is comfortable and quiet. I park in a downtown garage and it is very easy to place it in small spots..great turning radius. The 4wd system has worked like a charm for me in the 4 or 5 times I have had it on Cascade Mountain Trail Heads. I have the v6 model and acceleration is just fine. The quality and fit/finish are on par with the other small SUV's I drove. The price, with rebates, was just over 17k and is easily the best value on the market. If there is any downside it is the hour the Chevy dealers spend trying to get you to buy the Blazer or lease a $40,000 suburban!

Strength:

Decent fuel econonmy, cheap price. You find a parking spot everywhere.
If you want a small cheap convertible, that is the car to go.

Weakness:

Taking the top down is a bit complicated. But have done it about 3 months ago and never closed it since then.
Spare parts are extremly expensive. A plastic dome light switch (worth less than $5) costs about $35. Unbelievable.

It is just a fun car. 6 months ago I bought it used with 4WD, A/C, automatic, stereo, brand new tires and arround 70000 miles on it for about $5000.
It is just great and makes lots of fun with the top down.
It has more interior space and leg room than a Wrangler, needs half the fuel and with its 4WD and low range it goes everywhere a Wrangler would go.
And it only costs half of a Wrangler.

Strength:

Cheap.

Weakness:

2.0L four-banger insufficient, especially for an automatic.

Bought as rebuilt salvage with under 16K miles. Good body work; barely fair repaint. Gas guage and right turn indicator in dash not working. Downshifts a lot in Cascades and Rockies. At half used retail...excellent deal. My 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe LX is a much better vehicle, but it's too nice to drive with all the road construction and door-dingers out there. First $21,500 takes it with only 40 miles on it.

Strength:

GREAT OFF ROAD. Limieted Slip Rear Diff. Built pertty Well. *LIKE A ROCK*
Great gass milage. bigger tires let me to 30mpg. Great ground clearance and with the bigger tires i gained about 2".

Weakness:

Not much here to talk about. Not too much room but being 6' 3" i can sleep in it just fine. The electrical system is a little small but I guess with a 1000w sound system there Will be a little dimming of the lights. Chevy could have fixed that problem with a little beefier alternator.

I was a little weary about the hole Tracker deal people telling my, "it going to suck" or "it's not going to be good off road", "your going to be unhappy with it", "piece of $hit" You know, all those people are WRONG.
It's a GREAT RIG. I use it off roading a lot, real 4x4'ing, no baby stuff, and the dam thing never gets stuck. :) Even driving in 12" mud puddles, Not stuck yet and when I get it stuck I have gone to far. The rear limited slip differential REALLY help with 4WD. That was a nice touch by chevy. The day after I bought the Tracker, I went to my local Les Schwab store and tried to get the biggest tire on the Tracker. For no lift yet, I was able to get 30/9.50 15" swamper tires with MINIMAL rubbing even hard off roading. CALMINI makes a 3" lift for about $900 which I will be installing soon. The 4WD system has made this a great buy. Anyone who thinks the new 2000 trackers can't 4x4 well is a F A G. It is the $hit for the price. I have MANY pictures of me beating the heck out of the 4x4 system. You could say the tracker will make it's own DAM tracks, and It keeps running like a dream.
I have also pulled a 750lb trailer with my tracker. The 30" tall tires and 750lbs makes it up the hills slow but GETS there. The 2.0L motor keep going. Kind of wish I had the V6 model but what are you going to do. I put my own Exhaust system on it and with the K&N air filter I seem to have squeezed about 15HP more bringing it up to 145HP, just shy of the V6. NOT TO BAD.
I can't really find al that to complain about.
I love the SUV. :)
Want to argue with me? email me at astroman305@hotmail.com and will talk.
Sorry to stick up for it but it a really fun SUV.
