Lot's of power under the hood.Great for offroading and highways.Has enough power and towing capacity to almost anything(21 foot Boston Whaler). Also enough room for 5 people comfortly and luggage.
Weakness:
Gas mileage is a little high. But comes with territory of an SUV. Other than that nothing. 27,300 for my 2000 Tahoe, Had under 12,000 miles when bought. Puter color with leather and option you coild possibly want. Would recommend to anybody, for business or offroading or hauling things all day long. Best vehicle I ever owned , except the ultimate Z71 Truck. I love it !!!!!!!!!! Similar Products Used: 98'four door Yukon, 96'Z71 Chevy Truck, 94'Z71 GMC Truck |

Strength:
Awesome appearance, spacious, durable, dependable, and comfortable. Handles like a luxury car with muscle. Captains chairs are great! Installed the t.v. and vcr aftermarket feature and kids love it. The gas mileage is appropriate for the vehicle size and weight.
Weakness:
Visibility in rear-view mirror is limited due to split doors. Brakes wear quickly. Air conditioner does not blow with enough power. Paid 27,000 and I highly recommend this vehicle to any sporting enthusiast. It is the ultimate SUV! Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Good quality control in assembly (this one was put together in Wisconsin); great creature comfort; easy to handle; quiet; highly responsive engine (which uses absolutely no oil); roomy.
Weakness:
None noted to date; would be nice to get better fuel economy, but I wouldn't sacrifice the engine pep. This is a fully loaded LT with all the bells and whistles: towing package, traction control, front and rear A/Cs, etc., in two-wheel drive. So far it has performed flawlessly. After 1,200 miles of break-in driving, I changed the oil and headed off on a 1,700 mile vacation in Florida. The comfort factor was much better than expected: cushy seats eliminated the usual 'body kinks' experienced at gas stops, the aerodynamics greatly minimized buffeting in windy conditions at interstate speed, the A/C worked great, and the vehicle was tight and quiet. Gas consumption was not unexpected: I averaged 16.5 MPG overall with a high of 19.5 between a couple of interstate gas stops after running at speeds of 70-75. I attribute the 19+ to the 3.42 gear ratio which I ordered, but would expect the 3.73 equipped ones to get less. At this point I am well satisfied with this purchase. I especially like the removable third seats (which were left at home for the trip) and the large cargo capacity. It rivals my extended cab Silverado for creature comfort and utility, and might even be getting a little better gas mileage. Similar Products Used: I have two other Chevy's: a Silverado extended cab truck and an S-10 Blazer. The 2001 Tahoe is at least as good as the other two, and is a great long-distance travel vehicle. |

One of a kind look, decent handling, good acceleration, appeal to opposite sex, vortec engine fairly reliable and provides plenty of power and torque.
Weakness:
Discontinued-:(, average brakes, sometimes loose feedback from steering, overall poor to average reliability- have had to replace many parts over the years only the extended warranty saved my sanity and wallet.
Similar Products Used: 2001 Ford powerstroke- handles much better, better ride, far more reliable mechanically. |

Weakness:
I have none YET. I just purchased it December 18, 2000. After getting out of an 94 Inf Q45T. This truck is my best purchase I really wanted the Burban but my wife (the boss) said it was to big and she couldn't drive it. My brother has a 99 (which is the cleanest Suburban in VA BCH)whcih I lined up with a 94 Fleetwood Cadillac and quess what the Caddy was longer. She still said no. So I purchased it's little brother. Weakness:
Constant returning to dealership only to be told that the brakes are up to factory standards. Have had front pads replaced at 30k, mastercylinder(twice) & booster replaced.Had Zone-engineer test drive and he echoed the same,"up to factory standards". Am not through with problem yet.Too much $$$ invested, next recourse is Better Business Bureau. Am not at all pleased with Tahoe's brake preformance and less with their ignoring the spongey brake issue. I feel that my local dealership has done all they can, but they are at the Zone Engineer's discretion. Was given the Chevrolet Customer Assistance phone number, only to be told that the Zone Engineer had the last say-so. Am waiting to hear from them. I am sad to say, but I will definitely consider an import(better built) and perhaps give up passenger space in order to have reliabilty. Similar Products Used: Ford Explorer, too small and bouncey. That is why I moved up to Tahoe,BUT!! their 4 disc brakes were definitely better. |

Power, Comfort (especially comfort) I have owned this car for two years and There is yet to be a thing wrong with it. Some people say the brakes are weak, but it is all relative to how you drive the car.

Strength:
The Tahoe has met our family needs well. I have taken several trips and enjoy the comfort, the handling and the room to accommodate passengers. I have the 4 door LT with the towing package. It has towed nicely as well, towing a 2 horse trailer loaded for a week trip. There have been no mechanical problems with the vehicle and I love the heated seats.
Weakness:
Brakes. Overall we have been happy with the performance of the Tahoe. We are currently looking to purchase a 2001 4wd. My only concerns are that brakes seem to still be an issue. Similar Products Used: When I purchased the Tahoe, I test drove every SUV out on the market, including the Land Cruiser. The Tahoe won hands down for comfort and handling. Being as I didn't want a 4 wheel drive, which Land Cruiser could not offer me, the Tahoe was purchased. |

Strength:
Good ride, better off the line power than previous 99, handles better than the 99 as well.
Weakness:
Brakes and less leg room and cargo room than 99. Sure are a lot of people who are either bored, jealous or Ford owners posting reviews on this website. Having said that, my basis for comparison was my 99 Tahoe. Owned Isuzu Troopers before that and Toyota trucks before that. 99 Tahoe was my first V8. The 2001 5.3L V8 has more power and is very quick off the line. 99 was sluggish in comparison. Both my 99 and 01 were LT package. Hard to find one that is not. Dealers order them that way to make more money on the options. Got my 01 at invoice less $1000 for GM owner loyalty, whatever, it saved me money. The 01 is classier and more plush than the 99. The 99 was more utilitarian and had more cargo space. The 01 LT is opulent in comparison. I would have preferred the old body style with the new engine/powertrain. It drives more like a car than the 99 and handles very well. Comes with Firestone Wilderness LE tires. These are made exclusively for GM and are not currently available for sale at your local tire store. Not thrilled with the tires due to Firestones recent problems and even less thrilled when I found out I was driving my first 600 miles on over inflated tires. Ford, GM and Firestone had better get their acts together or they will get sued out of existence. Between the dealer, Chevy and Firestone, three different recommended tire pressures. They all finally agreed on 35psi. Vehicle was delivered with 42 psi. In summary, while not perfect, it beats anything Ford, Dodge or Jeep has to offer. Similar Products Used: 99 Tahoe |

Strength:
Unmatched Power in offroad and towing capabilities, Lots of room and all equipment has lasted well. Very comfortable seats and a great sound engine. Looks good. Smooth Transmission. Very smooth ride. Good factory stereo
Weakness:
Transmission too weak, Plastice interior fitted poorly, few options for an expensive truck. Why no rear vents? Poor gas mileage (to be expected) Exhaust system poor and reduces engine performance. Breaks weak. Handling average and to be expected for a big truck. It is a great car for country or winter driving. ITs terrible in the city with all the stops and starts. It has little power and terrible gas mileage at speeds in or above 70 mph. IT has been a real fun truck in the winter with a great 4-wheel drive ability. Ladies love this truck but its handling could be improved by a wider standard wheelbase. ALso would like to see a model available with the Denali Exhaust system. Similar Products Used: Better handling and power than expedition but durango has it beat on handling and pick-up. Also GM needs to put some more time into the interior, |
