Strength:

Nice power everything (when it works).4x4, moon roof.

Weakness:

Drivers leg room. Maintenance.

This is the worst car. At 28,000.00 miles we purchased the car. We had to replace the front wheel bearings, ball joints, rear brakes and rotors, drivers window motor, rear wiper motor, trans cooling lines. There is a baffle loose in the muffler but we can deal with that. There is also a lot of hesitation when backing up in 4 wheel drive. Dealer will not acknowledge the problem.

Owned Blazer since new. Bad reliability prompted this review. Items repaced before 65K miles: Two ignition modules. Transmission. catalytic converter. Mass air flow sensor. Oxygen sensor. exhaust pipe & muffler. Oil lines. Total repair costs > $5000 in 3 years of use. This vehicle was driven by a woman 95% of the time (and not driven hard). It never towed anything. It was never taken off-road.

Strength:

Comfortable...like the heated seats. Lots of power (when it feels like working) 4 Wheel Drive sticks to the road in the winter (when it works right)

Weakness:

Major...Major Problems with Drive-Train and Electrical systems. Windshield wipers will stop in the middle of a rainstorm.

Very...Very unhappy with this vehicle. I have had many cars, so far this is the worst. The repair costs will break you. I will probably never guy a GM again. The vehicle has had a list of problems starting with the cooling system. Completely redone, as well as the transmission. Everytime I turn around something needs replaced. I should of stuck with Ford. at least ford stands behind thier product if there's a problem.

Comfortable, I can reach brakes/gas-see over the hood. I'm 4'8.

Weakness:

Too many mechanical problems.

This is the worst vehicle I have ever owned. I thought I would feel safe in it...wrong. Not dependable. 1 week after I bought it brand new- the switch for the rear-window wiper broke off. 6 months later, the panel on the back of the arm rest broke off. Chevrolet had to replace the ENTIRE air-conditioning system, condensor-everything-and the vehicle was only 2 years old. Replaced the battery last week, today-car won't start-they say it's the alternator and the vehicle is only 2 1/2 years old. I can't afford to wait around and see what's going to happen next. Looks like I'm trading it in. I've always had Nissans-they last forever. Might be checking them out!

*Power door locks *keyless entry *power windows *leather seats *tinted windows (are especially nice so you dont need the little window covers for babies) * seats are pretty comfy *Its apearance is nice *cost is alright * one thing (although it sounds petty, but anyone who smokes or has children can sympathize) it has a little removable sleeve that goes on top of the little trays in the front, this is nice to clean it out.

Weakness:

* gas milage (but thats with any SUV) * wierd knocking noises (unexplained) * smoking * check engine light always on (unexplained) * There is always something wrong with the things

This is the newest car I have ever purchased. I was excited about it because it is beautifull and I thought since it was a lot newer than my previous cars that it would last a lot longer. WRONG It dies out for no reason, has problems starting, loses tranny fluid, smokes, loses power, grinds when using breaks on ice, heater doese not blow good enough to heat the front seat let alone my kids in the back seat, the struts make noise. Now I might have just gotten a bad car. But after reading all of the reviews about it, I am convinced that its just the blazer. I wont buy another one.

I have never used anything like this. My older cars didnt look so nice, (ok they looked like poop) but they ran. And I certainly didnt pay 7,000 for them. Id rather drive a little subaru and be cramped. At least I would know that I am going to get where I am going!!! Be careful buying these cars.

Has good pulling power, looks are great. Nice dash

Weakness:

deer ;), just kidding. I am not going to mention gas milage as the others.. it gets about 500 kms on 66 liters.. the tank will hold 72 liters. That is almost equal to my parents minivan. Balljoints. Expensive repair was over 1000. I didn't like that too much Also that pice of metal in the drivers seat on the bottom left hand side wears through. Could be a little more roomier when you get to full size guys in it the front your tight on space.

I purchased my blazer in 1998 the mile was 145 000. I have since owned my blazer now for 5 years and have a total of 340 000 kms on it that is over 500 000 miles. The blazer is amazing. I have done most of the repairs mentino on here. However the transmision went on my before 180 000 and i got it replaced under the platium warrenty program. Since i was the second buyer the gm dealership told me that it was the third one to be put in it. Though since the replace ment i towed my seadoo and boat and also skidoo around in drive and never had a problem since then with it. Ball joints were around 210 000 and the frist tune up i did was at 275 000. Everything else is typical. I am truely in love with this vehicle as it save me from serious injury the other night. As i hit a deer straight on (6 point buck) the blazer took the hit like a champ. I will be waiting to see if it will be written off or fix. i am hopping fix as i would love to be the frist to go a million kms with it ;) Another thing is that the headlights ewre never replaced all the time i was driving it. In Canada we have to have them running at all times called daylight running lights. I have always had fords but this vechile has really changed my mind. One last note Coming back from a party i had 10 guys in it all weiging a good 200 pounds and drove to the next party over 15 mins away.. the blazer pulled well with over a ton in it.. lol and the tranny is still going :) I just think it is all in how you drive alot of people forget to pull in drive instead of overdrive

Strength:

4WD worked great; once got me out of a steep ditch on a muddy logging road. Generally good visibility; Comfortable on long trips (8-12 hours); decent mpg (18 - 22); lots of room for my camping gear and stuff I buy at Home Depot (mulch, rocks, dirt); pretty good passing capability on highway; maneuvered better than publications would have you believe.

Weakness:

Loud engine at slow speeds; some gauges partially obstructed by steering wheel; rear-wheel drive vehicle had only front ABS brakes; loud environment at highway speeds.

This is a long-term report on the quality of a 1989 S10-Blazer (now called simply Blazer). I recently traded it in for a 2004 Blazer. My '89 had 129K miles on it. I changed the oil regularly. I used it to go from MA to WV and PA and ME, as well as Canada. It had only one big problem during all this time (would not start in ME). A local garage fixed it in an hour. Hope the '04 works out just as well.

Strength:

Dependable, fuel efficient (28/22), great looks, lots of power for a V-6, fun to drive, and goes anywhere.

Weakness:

Spare tire blocks too much of rear view and the A/C is inadequate for the volume of the interior. The front seat passengers stay comfy but the rear seat passengers do not enjoy much benefit from the A/C. I understand the units with rear A/C do not suffer from this situation. My vehicle, unfortunately, does not have this option. Those are my only 2 complaints. They are hardly worth mentioning, in my opinion.

I am extremely happy with the purchase of my Blazer. I bought it about 3 months ago with 201,000 miles on it. I now have 226,000 miles on it. I am a courier and drive it 300 miles a day, M-F and 375 miles on Sat. That adds up to about 7,500 miles per month. And that's a lot of miles! The miles are about 2/3 highway and 1/3 city. Everything works on it except the rear windshield wiper and rear defroster. It has power everything except seats. It has the digital dash which looks real cool but is not as easy to read as regular gauges. The interior and exterior are spotless. There is not a speck of rust on it and the interior looks like it has less than 10,000 miles on it. I do not know if the interior has been redone, but it is truly flawless and beautiful. My cousin owns a body shop and said he could find no evidence of rust or body repair. It doesn't even have the normal parking lot dings on the doors. It's virtually spotless inside and out. It is 4WD, automatic and 4.3L engine with A/C. I have read other reviews here where the reviewers complained of excess engine noise. My engine can barely be heard, even with the A/C on. I change the oil every 2 weeks (about 3,500 miles). It is usually just over half a quart low when due for a change. Not bad for a vehicle with 226,00 miles on it! The engine has lots of power and always starts right up. The automatic transmission shifts very firmly and approapriately. I have had no problems getting it in or out of 4WD. I travel some pretty rough country roads (gravel & dirt...usually ungraded) on Saturdays. It flew through the Missouri safety and emissions inspections with lots of room to spare. The safety inspector even commented on the great condition of the vehicle. I have put over 25,000 miles on it in just under 3 months and the brakes are still very good...had them checked out last week. "Rotors and pads in fine shape" said the mechanic. I do not know how many miles had been put on this set of brakes before I bought the vehicle. Rides a little stiff, but it's an SUV. The turning radius is great. The only rattle is in the L/R door. I absolutley love this vehicle and would strongly recommend this year and model to anyone. I love its dependability, looks, great handling and, believe it or not, really good fuel mileage. On the highway I get 28 MPG and in town in get 22 MPG. The designers could have done something a little better with the spare tire that blocks too much of the rear view, though.
