Strength:
This car has a very smooth ride and an excellent radio. It is very big considering I have 6 kids. My husband is also 6'6" and it is even roomy enough for him!
Weakness:
Absolutely nothing. I would recommend this car to anyone with a family. It is expensive but you will be glad you paid the money. I suggest everyone who wants an SUV to go out and buy this right now. Similar Products Used: Better than any others I test drived, especially compared to the Kia Sportage! |

Cadillac Escalade
Strength:
Solid ride (smooth)
Weakness:
Seat Controls located in a bad spot. Sticker 46,900, got for under 40,000. I would recommed it over the Chevy Suburban (2000) any day of the week. Similar Products Used: Better than my 2000 Chevy Suburban, I traded in. Sticker price higher than Suburban but when dealer got done, I got it for the same price as the Chevy Suburban. Chevy rode like a FLAT BED HAY WAGON going over a plowed field. I was not happy about the ride. I had traded a 93 Chevy Suburban in on the 2000 Chevy and was very disappointed. The Escalade rides and handles like the 93 Chevy Suburban (rode/handled like my 96 Fleetwood). |

Strength:
Lots of room, important to me because I am 6'5" and over 250 pounds. Also plan to add the 3rd row of seats when baby #2 comes along, so we will still have room for several adult passengers besides me,wife,2 kids.
Weakness:
Missing some features that you expect from high end GM products, such as fuel efficiency/range display along with other stats (oil temp, etc), temperature selectable climate control, seat memories from multiple drivers, etc. The Cadillac Escalade team could learn a few things by talking to owners and also by looking at the competition, for example the Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer. Bought a used 1999 model with only 16,000 miles on it, with hail damage and broken windshield. Price $26,900. Hail damage is not that bad, and windshield is being replaced for $339 plus tax. Would recommend Similar Products Used: I like this one but it could get better. Look at all the features and gizmos on other GM products and make sure this one has the best of the best. On*Star is fabulous and hopefully will improve with more features (e.g. "Tell me 3 or 4 movies which are starting in the next 30 minutes, within a 10 minute drive from where I am right now; they know about movie theaters but don't know about movie schedules) |

Strength:
Based soley on the standard of service I have received from Charles Maund Cadillac Dealership and GMC Corporation, I have no faith in their ability to show anything but blatent disregard to me and the safety of my family. I am appauled at the fact of adding insult to injury as their protocall in customer service.
Weakness:
They brakes have completetly failed on me twice in a three month period. The mastercyclinder leaks, heat cracks on the drums, rear brake pads torn and cracked, front brakes low and do not stop vehicle. In and out of service dept. Charles Maund Cadillac nor GMC is standing behind their commitment. They have insisted that the vehicle is safe because they could not duplicate the brake failure after a 20 and 22 mile road test. My family has almost been killed due to brake failure and they only insist on making excuses and assuptions, rather than to admit this is a dangerous vehicle. The question should not be duplication of failure, but acknowledgement that it has happened twice in three months and do the correct choice of permantely removing this proven to be a dangerous vehicle of our roads. I have never been put through such a run around in my life. Why must someone die before the automotive industry will stand behind their products and make safety the first and utmost concern. I have been told by the Charles Maund Service Dept. that it is my driving and that the brakes really never did go completely out. My response is, it was my children and I in the truck when it happened and our lives at risk. They have serviced it and put new power booster in, over adjusted the ABS brakes and this is not enough to verify the extreme safety hazard with this vehicle, they must be able to duplicate it before my word as the owner is good enough to remove this truck and put us in something I can again feel safe in without always fearing each and everytime I apply the brakes will they, or will they not work? I purchased my Escalade because I sincerely believed in the Cadillac product and commitment. I have been given the run around, accused of not driving the truck correctly, as the reason for my complete brake failure. I expected nothing less from Cadillac to keep the safety of my family and others on the road their utmost priority. I can find no logical explanation exceptable to me that the problem must be duplicated before someone does the correct thing by removing this vehicle of the road permanetly. What if we get injured or killed, much less harm someone else, before the evidence is acknowledged, or we have to wait for another inspection, paperwork to be filed, etc.? I have followed all the quidelines as I was instructed by my warrenty book and to this date Cadillac has still placed my family in direct danger by keeping this tied up in inspections and paperwork. This vehicle clearly falls under the lemon law, and yet no one has addressed the issue of our safety. Why must someone die before you listen. The brakes have failed twice for a fact, Cadillac may continue to deny this forever, but it will never change the fact that it happened. I can not believe this is the way you have choosen to conduct this dispute, and I will never understand why after all this time, and so many attempts to resolve this you continue to drag this on. Must someone be injured or killed before you do the honorable and correct thing. How many inocent lives were lost while Ford and Firestone disputed the fault. I was advised to trade the vehicle in, I do not agree with the pass the buck, and my conscience will not allow me to just trade it in to be rid of my issues. I cannot believe the dollar is worth more to them, than the safey of their consumers. I sincerely expected more from Cadillac and GMC. Similar Products Used: 2000 GMC Silverdo Truck |

Escalade
Strength:
I like the ride of this vehicle, and how it looks. The leather interior is very nice with good interior space. The Sound system sounds nice, but not like my wife's 99 Concours Deville. I miss the digital processsing she has on her car. She jokes me about the ride from the Escalade. saying "it doesn't ride like my Deville Concours" For a SUV/Truck I think it has a pretty smooth ride.
Weakness:
The Onstar picks up a noise from the engine at certain times when you use it. I had to take the truck back twice to get the tires re-blanced. I have recommended this SUV to others, they like it. As a matter of fact my 2 brothers-in-law have been looking seriously at the Escalde and will probably make a decision and buy soon. $46,000.00 was the asking price. Compared to other SUV's in this class it's a nice truck. My overall opinion for the truck is "TOP SHELF". Similar Products Used: This is my first SUV, so I can not compare it to anything else. However I have been in other SUV's and the Escalde is sweet. I would like to see a littler more power from the engine, and hands free phone installed from the factory. |

Strength:
I like the interior with leather and the audio system is great. The ride is smooth. Looks great.
Weakness:
Weak on power. Fuel mileage is poor. Each time I start out from stop light or pull out from a parking place it sounds like the rear axle is falling out. Over priced. I could not recommend the vehicle when I feel there are better SUV's out there in my opinion. Similar Products Used: I traded a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and have regrets for making the trade. |

Strength:
Firm leather seats, all heated. Great audio system allows back seat passengers to listen to a different audio source than the front passenger. Wood trim adds a touch of elegance to the whole package.
Weakness:
Auto climate control would be nice. And maybe automatic dimming lights. Its not that much to ask for the price. I love this vehicle. The price is a shocker, but once you own the vehicle for a week or two you will be glad that you opted to put out the extra cash. Similar Products Used: When I first purchased the Escalade, I had the Onstar system installed, and I was given a fully loaded Chevrolet Tahoe to drive. A world of difference. Not as much power. Or luxury. Didn't seem as smooth. |
