The engine for a V-6 is pretty quick gas mileage is pretty good also. The car itself is a looker. Not as commmon as a mustang or camaro, plus looks a lot better than the camarro because of the headlights. It has 4 seats which is better than 2 seats.
Weakness:
Small backseat, not a trans-am, I paid $5,000 at 147,000 miles, I now have 158,000 miles on it, is a grat car and mechanically has given me no trouble, I have just changed the oil every 3,000 miles, and changed the air filter mostly. If you want a car that is less common and will turn heads this is for you. If you want a slow car that looks alright and that every one has get a mustang. Similar Products Used: None |

This is one mean car! Bad a$$ styling, and this car is freakin fast! There is nothing wrong with this car at all. It kicks major A$$!!!
Weakness:
There is nothing I don't like about it! But I'm tired of these fools who get on here b*tching about how the hood is "too long", or the doors are "too heavy", or the back seats are "too f*cking cramped" I mean, what the F*ck!? The doors and the hood and the seats are all what makes it a firebird, and if you don't like them, then get a new f*cking ride. Alright, I've had this kick-A$$ car for about 4 months now. I'm 17, and I paid $25,000 for this baby. (yeah, I bought it myself, no help from mommy). Anyway, this car is NOT for the inexperienced, it's got 305 horses that can get away from you in the blink of an eye if you don't watch what you're doing. So think before you buy. Cuz this car can draw a lot of attention, especially unwanted attention. I have been babying this car pretty good, and it's given me no problems so far. ANYWAY, I would definately recommend this ride to either the sports car enthusiast, the speed freak, or anyone who wants a cool looking, fast car. The firebird has the best bang-for-the buck of any car (besides the camaro). It gets pretty good gas mileage. But you know what pi$$es me off? It's people who talk about the firebird being "impractical." Well, folks, it's a SPORTS CAR, and for a SPORTS CAR it is VERY practical. I mean, it's got rear seats that are fairly comfortable, and a pretty good sized trunk, and the seats even fold down to allow more room for cargo. It's one of the more practical sports cars out there. What people make the mistake of doing is comparing the shortcomings of a sports car to a passenger car, or other vehicle. You should compare sports cars to sports cars, ok? And if you think about it, the firebird is one of the cheapest, most practical, agressively designed sport coupes out there.....SO BUY ONE! Weakness:
Cheap interior. The 6 speed is a blast. Hold a gear into a corner and then punch it on the way out. What a rush! Hey, it's a sports car. You don't need rear seats, leather, or a fancy dash. Just give me the vitals with gauges and lots of power. If you want a fancy interior or pristine quality.... BUY A LUXURY CAR! Similar Products Used: Camaro Z28, BMW 328i. |

3.4 V6 Firebird
Strength:
It's fairly quick, I give half the V8 trucks a good run for their money, the other half...really don't have a chance! I wish I had a 200hp 3.8, but I'm trying to find small ways of upgrading my 3.4. (experimenting) Got ideas? PLEASE send to marc_valdez@hotmail.com ! I really do appreciate it!
Weakness:
My windows roll up S L O W !! I've had to replace the motors twice already (within the last year) Seats are very confortable...makes driving at night a death trap if you want to stay awake. (good thing I got a monsoon) I paid $9,500...which is ok @ 48k miles..now it has 76k. I'm trying to get rid of it and buy a newer V8 (conv. or T-top) Yes...I would recommend it to any friend..If you can drive standard...get it standard. It saves gas money, & has more power. Pontiac Trans Am

This car is the complete package. It is fast, slick, grabs any eye that isn't blinking, and fits my needs. I go to college and this is my first car, and I wouldn't trade it for anyhting-except, maybe the newer body style. I recomend it to anyone who has at least minimal car knowledge. it is great to see those Mustang drivers try to ignore you at the stoplight when they realize that you can whip their tales-same goes for those Honda's. It is a continuing project for me-Rims, Ram air kit, ect.
Weakness:
The car is high matinence, so hold some money aside for work to be done. Also, the backseat is too small-if more than three people are there, we gotta take another car. But, these are worth it, especially if you are driving it. i paid 11,900. It is worth it and i recomend it to any good driver-if you drive reckless, then this car will not like you-especillay in the rain and snow Similar Products Used: camaro is like its twin or something, it destroys practically any car under $50,000. |

Well i bought it with about 50,000 miles on it. It has pretty good handling and great pick up for a V6. Its smooth riding and ok suspention for a car.
Weakness:
It gets horrible gas miliage. I payed $6000. Yes i would recommend it but if i had the choice i would get a 5.7 V8, i would probley get the same gas miliage and have more power. I would recommend it to a teenager just starting to drive. Similar Products Used: Good compared to the other cars made in 1992. |

Visual stimulation... Not much more I can say about how this car looks compared to all of the other vehicles on the road (in its price range). So far I have not heard any poor opinions on the outside styling and overall look especially at night with the lights up. The V6 has 200hp which is ok. T-tops are nice and are storable in designated slots in the trunk. Has heavier steering than I'm used to which makes the car have more feel on the road. The interior has lots of leg room for the driver. Everything is within reach easily from the driving position.
Weakness:
Well the back seats are small but hey I'm not sitting back there so who cares. The trunk is also small. Not much can be stored in there without putting down the back seats. I paid 10,500 for this car with 63,000 miles on it already. I would recommend this car to anyone who wants to drive....Only drive a few people around but drive nonetheless. Your not gonna be using this car to transport much but you can get whatever you want to transport there much faster. So it has a pretty good bang for your buck value...especially when you consider the prices of all of its competitors. Similar Products Used: none |

Strength:
This is a base car witha fair amount of work. The little 3.8l can haul ass with the 5 speed. It is not to hard to outrun a 5.0 mustang. It looks great, it handles great, and the stereo sounds great. When I bought it, it had 30000 miles, and some work done. It has an upgraded suspension, upgraded factory stereo, 3800 package (formula tires and rims), higher ratio read end (3.42), and it had the speed limiter removed. All this put together for about 3 grand extra and this car make it a sweet ride.
Weakness:
Um, the electroics have had a few bugs, PCM blew ( under warranty) and a front ABS sensor blew. Other than that, not much. Even the V-6 has higher insurance rates, being an 19 year old male. Its really easy to be doing 85-90 mph and not notice = big tickets. Pontiac wants to scrape these cars. Paid 15500 canadain. I would devenetly recomend this car. It hauls ass pretty quick. The 3.8l series II is a bulletproof motor, and the 5 speed has never given me any problems. The 8 speaker stereo is more than needed, and the 3.8l is easy on gas compared to the LT1. It is also easier on insurance, it just doesn;t feel like it. I would recommend this car to anyone that wants a fast good looking car. It is to much fun, zipping past 5.0 GT's, and leaving hondas in a cloud of smoke and rubber. With a few mods, this car can kick ass. Strength:
This car is raw power. The LT1 houses 285 ponies and the styling of this car is like none seen on the road. A definte head turner. The stock LT1 still give the 99 mustangs GTs something to reconcider before facing embarasment. T-tops are fun, the paint finish still like new and the interior gives you that fighter pilot kinda feel. Mine was offered fully loaded w/ blk leather and a teal exterior paint (common witht the firebird base and forumla, but rarely seen on a Trans Am)
Weakness:
Driving this car takes some adjusting to. Have to get used to the limited area sight on the blind spots. The interior has a great look to it, but the camaros will last longer. Brakes, spark plugs and the induction were about the majority of problems I came across (which even wasn't that much). Besides that, the little things such as oil changes are gonna cost you more than you'd expect. In my opinion, this is the most attractive, solid F-body (preceeding the 98 models) ever built by GM. These cars are virtually unbeatable on the road and leave stang owners thinking twice boasting. Please note that because the Trans Am produces so much power, it's a good idea to have the ACS traction control option (I wish I did before I totaled mine :( ) Similar Products Used: 96 eclipse rs - not even a comparison. |
