EVERYTHING!! This car rocks. Ever since I saw Firebirds in the IROC, I've loved them. It turns heads, engine picks up fast, just plain FUN TO DRIVE!

Weakness:

I haven't found any weaknesses in my Firebird other than the windows leak in the car wash a little bit.

I love my Firebird. It's the first sports car I've ever owned. It's so awesome. The body is so amazing. I pull up to stop signs and people next to me turn and look at my car. I love the attention. I would recommend this car to anyone looking for a good time.

Strength:

Extreme performance, the 160mph speedo is there for a reason. Looks great, handles well, and brakes adequately. Standard performance upgrades are readily available for the LS1. Yes, as you've read up above, it smokes mustangs, BEING that it can keep it's tires from throwing you all over the
f`in road.

Weakness:

Don't drive it in the snow(who drives sports cars in the snow?), and if you do, creep like a wounded turtle.

What's my conclusion? Great car, the LS1 has the torque curve of god's car. Cheap thrill? (Compared to the snooty vette's) Don't expect the gas mileage of a honda or the same reliability, especially if you mod it as many do. Doesn't have the stock rumble of a big block but stealth power is nice as well. My conclusion-- wear your seatbelt, fool.

Similar Products Used:

1972 Pontiac GTO - 455ho-- ridiculous torque - Still crankin out the lunatic cars eh Pontiac? Money pit- worth it.

Strength:

This car handles really good, and despite 173,000 miles it is running like a champ. It has ok acceleration for a crappy little motor, i wish i had a 305 though!

Weakness:

It gets bad gas milage for such a small motor, and I keep on losing front end components, nothing major though just bolts and stuff.

I like my 'bird but it is time to get a bigger motor. I have no major complaints.

Model Reviewed: 30th Anniversary Trans Am

Strength:

This car is all about strength. With 320 HP (extremely underrated..) this car can haul faster than anything in its price range. I have absolutely destroyed Mustang GT's even if they have a head start. It corners on a dime and can do so at any speed. This car is a race car, and as such is not meant for going grocery shopping. The interior of the 30th is second to none. As one of the only cars in recent memory with white leather interior with white exterior, this car is as beautiful as it is powerful. Special badging and blue stripes match the original 1969 Trans Am. Its metallic blue 17" rims are also a cut above. In short there is nothing not to like about this car.

Weakness:

I am picky about the sound system as I am big into competing. But it is still the best I have heard with respect to factory installed equipment. There is also that hideoud hump under the passenger seat for the catalytic converter. Lastly the ugly red lights in the dash... On a red car maybe..

This car gets more looks than anything else on the road. It is the meanest looking thing at night. The roar of the LS1 V8 is sureal. With a few thousand this thing can beat Vette's everyday. It is hard to not modify this anniversary edition car. It is worth more as the days go by. The interior is like a cadillac. The seats support nicely, and the controls are all easy to use. It is far superior to any Ford on the road. It is easy to drive (although the steering is stiff). This car is not for the weak at heart or for the daily driver. You need to understand what a musclecar is about to appreciate this car. It is not good for an only car. This is for weekends and shows only. I will add that this car consistently wins best of show all over North America. It is not for getting groceries or for hauling kids. It is for raw immeasureable power. Anyone who has ever had a seat in this car would never go back.

But the fewer on the road the better. All the more attention for me!

Summary: for the horsepower and styling this car is a great value. And for the feeling that you get while cruising - this car gets a 10 out of 5.

Similar Products Used:

Ford Mustang - built poorer, engine is overrated, no where near as fast, sloppy shifter, more plain, convertible is shabby.
Corvette - Nice, but still won't turn as many heads. A good driver of the 30th could easily walk over a Corvette. (especially with my 6 speed)
Camaro - similar performance, but again - no looks
Porsche Boxster - smaller and slower

Model Reviewed: TransAM 305

Strength:

Lots of power, and incredibly reliable. Car looks awsome and the chicks love the t-tops (as do I).

Weakness:

None really other then the fuel milage.

I got this car as my first car. It's a 1984 TransAM, with the Induction hood, and the 305 engine. I had all options except air and the sub.

Since buying it, the car never needed anything other then normal oil changes. The engine purred like a kitten and always gave me plenty of power.

One minor annoyance was that the t-tops leaked, though only in car washes or really heavy rain.

The car looked great for a 17 year old car, very little rust appeared on it, and the bit that did in the wheel wells was easily fixed.

Sadly it was stolen a couple weeks ago, and when it was recovered it was trashed.
If your looking for a cheap, reliable vehicle, the V8 F-body's are a great value.

Performance and ovious appearance.

Weakness:

Shade tree mechanic's nightmare. Retractable lights have malfunctioned twice. Major oil leak after 10000 miles. Driver side electric window
stopped. (Major headache to change) Radio volume not working properly.
Accessory belt has to be changed about every 20000 miles.

If the car did not look so good I would have run it off a cliff by now!
It's a shame Pontiac will not take some responsibility to work out the
all to common gliches in these cars. I highly suggest an extended warranty
to any future buyers. I take extreme care of my car and still have these
problems. It is by far the best looking car I have ever had and the funnest
to drive. I would like to keep it for a while longer. If I have another
unforseen glitch pop up, the car is gone!

Model Reviewed: Firebird Trans Am

Strength:

One of the most beautiful cars on the road. Borla cat-back sounds absolutely INCREDIBLE...best sounding car I've ever heard, period. Power is staggering, and it is an absolute blast to drive on a warm summer night with the tops off. Relatively inexpensive for the performance (before repairs). Women love it, your friends lust it, and nothing beats snarling up the on-ramp past all the imports and SUVs.

Weakness:

The QUALITY. This is the 3rd f-body I've owned in three years...first one was an 88 camaro, which was naturally a POS. Followed it by an 87 Formula, which was a lot better but still a POS. Decided to get a 95 T/A in the hopes of outrunning repairs and shoddy workmanship...boy, was I in for a nasty surprise. This car seems to be worse off than the other two...it rattles more than either of the 80 mobiles, the right t-top flew off at speed, the clutch was brand new but 9 months later is now a worthless POS (and no, I didn't beat it), two rear-axle bearings and the seal had to be replaced, ride has degenerated significantly, driver's side pop-up headlight stopped functioning...need I continue? The only part of this car that seems quality is its LT1...it ran rough for a little while, but a replaced fuel filter fixed that.

I don't know if it is my notorious bad luck or what, but I have yet to own an f-body that seemed even remotely reliable. For the amount I went into debt for this car, you'd expect it to not break so much, especially with all the touting that GM engineers are getting in the nineties. If it wasn't for the quality issue, then this would be the most incredible ride attainable....fast, beautiful, loud, and fun. But as it stands, this car is the most aggravating and frustrating money pit I've ever met, and I can't wait to get rid of it and get my 2001 Honda CBR 600-F4.

Similar Products Used:

Also owned an 88 Camaro and 87 Formula...out of all three f-bodies, I wish I had kept the 87...broke just as much, but I wasn't paying huge payments and insurance on it. 95 definately looks better than the other two, and DEFINATELY motors the snot out of the others (TPI sucks for horsepower). Ironically, my 95 actually seems to be worse quality than the other two...if it is breaking just as much as a car twice its age..?!

Model Reviewed: WS6 Trans AM

Strength:

The most beatiful car on the road
Extreme power
Good handling for such a big and heavy muscle car

Weakness:

Always having minor problems
Workmanship and build quality could be better.
A bit pricey.

I love my car more than anything else in the world. It's name is Lucifer and it is the most menacing black beast I have ever seen. There is no engine under the hood but rather a balck swirling mass of evil and demons. By the way, if you get one of these (and you better hurry cause' of their discontinuation) get black! I have seen it in every color and black is the ultimate. All other colors for such a meancing looking car just do not do it justice.

Anyway, I love the power and sometimes wish i had even more. I would give the brakes 4 out of 5. Sometimes I wish they had better stopping power and it nose dives a bit too much. If you are thinking of buying one, think about the roads you will be driving on. If they are not paved well, bumpy, or just in not very good condition, the ride is going to be very uncomfortable. This suspension is designed for smooth roads only. Although the new 2001 models have better valved springs for a more comfortable ride but i have not driven a 2001 one yet to see. GM claims gas mileage of 17/25 or something close to that but trust me if your bird is like mine you will be getting 10-12 miles per gallon in the city (and that is normal driving).

Minor Problems: Both oxygen sensors went out
Both power windows work like crap and the dealer never seems to fix them well even though i have asked them to 4 or 5 times now!
Power antenna was not working right for about a 1,000 miles time but then it fixed itself on its own.
I took road trip with friend who probably weighs about 210-230 or something and he sat in the passengers seat for about a total of 10 hours and the seat now makes annying squeaks all the time.
Front right signal light went out due to loose connections.
Drivers door came out from the factory out of alignment.
These constant minor problems are typical of these cars and i am willing to put with it. It is such an incredible vehicle and so origianl looking. i highly recommend it to anyone who wants a muscle car (might want to extend that warranty though). I think the mustang and camaro are great cars and very good looking too but A black WS6 Trans Am easily blows them away in the looks department. I have so many people stare wide-eyed everywhere i go, it starts to get scary becuase all eyes are on you everywhere. When i park in parking lots, i have people of all ages coming up to me with tons of questions. And i know that camaro and mustang owners do not get the attention of firebird owners.

So get one before it is too late. They are very very very fun.

Strength:

The most obvious strength is the look of the car. I don't care how much money you have, what kind of cars you've driven in the past or what kind of car you drive now you can not not look at a jet black firebird. It is truly a beautiful car. The engine is powerful and the car is quick. I recommend this car to any first time sports car buyer.

Weakness:

The doors are very long and difficult to get out of in normal parking situations.

This car has been wonderful. It's fast, fun and it grabs the attention I need as a self absorbed egomaniac. Seriously, this car has a really special look and feel. It handles well and it's got a good sound. I am truly happy with this car.

Looks Great
Very Reliable

Good Gas Mileage for An Engine With 160,000 Miles On It.
Accelerates Good Even Though The V6 Only Makes 135hp.

Weakness:

Rattles alot (160,000 Miles Will Do That Though)
Wish The Little 2.8 Would Make About 40 More Horsepower.
Starts Floating Way To Much At Around 100mph (No Ground Effects).

From Day One I Thought The Car Was Going To Have Problems Because Of Its Very High Milelage But I Have Only Had To Put About $900 Into It For Tires,Wheels(I Got Them From A JunkYard,The Factory Ones Were Warped), Intake Cleaning,EGR Valve,O2 Sensor,But That's It Other Than Regular Maintenance, And The Car Is Worth At Least 3,500(Kelly Blue Book Value)I Have Also Driven It Daily For Over A Year And A Half With The Only Problems Being The Ones Aforementioned. So I Believe That The Car Has Great Build Quality. The Car Is Great,Plain And Simple It Is What Got Me Hooked On Muscle Cars(Granted The V6 Doesn't Make Much Power But The Car Is Going To Get A 400 Stuffed In It One Day.) I Will Never Buy Anything Other Than Firebird Ever Again.

But The Formula Accelerates Better From About 25mph And Up And Is Alot Faster.
