Strength:

Cornering capabilities are awesome, road handling is great, plenty of hp stock compared to most.

Weakness:

Transmission, is that just not all you need to say. Mitsubishi went WRONG with that, costly services, and things of the sort. I wouldn''t ever, ever lower this car more that 1.5'''', otherwise your center of gravity is all wrong. I wouldn''t recommend any other model than the VR-4, otherwise its just a nice, heavy car. Gas mileage, uhm, it''s a v6 sports car, what did you expect?

Well I originally was looking for an Eclipse when I came across my car. I''m originally from Alaska so we don''t see cars like this there and I was sprung. I''ve never been more excited for a test drive in my life. As soon as I got in I loved it, leather interior and you feel like you''re in a jet cock pit. This car will make a driver out of you, it''s responsive, corners like OMG, and you can''t help but show off a little when another car flexes at you. Wider is better, even though that''s a Pontiac thing I think it applies here as well. We can''t forget my favorite ad for the 3000gt either: "Yet another reason the autobahn should be extended to the US.... the Mitsubishi 3000gt"

Strength:

1. Styling One of the best looking cars out there 2. Roadholding Great roadholding thanks to excessive curb weight and all wheel drive 3. Traction Thanks to all wheel drive 4. Acceleration Thanks to twin turbo

Weakness:

1. Reliability Lots of things go wrong with these cars...even when driven gently...both the engine and transmission are around $8000 to replace at a dealer and the turbos are around $2000 each to replace at the dealer. 2. Ride This car is VERY bumpy/bouncy. 3. Transmission The transmission is TERRIBLY notchy. 4. Driveability The car is VERY hard to drive if you''re over 5''6" thanks to no head room. 5. Fuel economy It''s a sports car.

Overall: Average Driveability: Below average Reliability: Below average Acceleration: Above average to Excellent Transmission: Below average Handling/Manueverability: Average Roadholding: Excellent Traction: Excellent Braking: Average Ride: Below average Noise (Lack of): Average Interior/Comfort: Average Fuel Economy: Below average Styling (Subjective): Best in class Comments: This was always my dream car. However, after much experience shopping, researching, and driving these machines, I''ve discovered that essentially, they are beautiful, period. Not much else is going for them. The engine is gutless. It only "feels" fast because it''s got the turbos forcing it to be fast. It''s the same gutless wonder from the SL model except tricked out to be faster. If you floor it in third gear at 1500RPM, you feel NOTHING until 3000RPM. Any American V-8 (or German V-12) without turbo will blow this thing away in regard to power. These cars known for having EXPENSIVE mechanical failures. The transmission is loose, notchy, and prone to failure (replacement will cost $8000 stock). Bottom-line, this car is gorgeous and relatively fast...that''s it.

Model Reviewed: 3000gt base

Strength:

It has a good look. 222hp is satisfactory. Room for motifications on the base. Handles well most times.

Weakness:

Compared to most sports cars the weight ratio is not even at all. The car is to heavy for just 222hp-- limiting acceleration. The choice of front wheel drive is suspect. In short its no BMW M3

The 3000gt base is a quality vehicle. It has a good look, but is a bit under powered at 222hp.

Strength:

320 Horsepower, Razor Sharp Handling, Neck Snapping Acceleration, AWD, Active Aero System, Durable Turbo with proper care, and plenty of aftermarket products out there to add more power.

Weakness:

Heavy, Transmission, and the 3000GT SL and Base Models, for they give the 3000GT a bad name. Only buy a VR4!!!!!

If you buy a 3000GT, make sure it''s a VR4. I love my VR4, let me restate that, I LOVE MY VR4!!!! It''s fast as hell, and despite being alittle on the heavy side, it still has great handling. Now when I say fast, I mean it''s FAST. I mean I go Camaro SS and Mustang Cobra hunting. I win some and lose some, but this car is definitly fast. If you want a car that will get you noticed then the 3000GT VR4 is the car for you. It''s also pretty reliable as long as you take care of it right, it''s not as fragile as other Turbo cars, such as the RX-7. If you just like the 3000GT look, then the SL and Base model is for you. But if you want 320 horsepower, razor sharp handling, and neck snapping acceleration, then buy the 3000GT VR4.

reliable, fast, looks good even after 15 years, high resale value, decent gas milage

Weakness:

sputters slightly when turning ignition, no cup holder, difficult to change gears

a very nice car. never had a breakdown or any kind of expensive problem. the car runs strong and fast. I would like to add a turbo to it but i probably wont have the money. the brake have always made noise but they never grind or go out on me. mine has 160000 miles and burns some oil but it still runs strong and it is very reliable. i recently drove it to louisiana and i was following my friend in his 95 dodge neon. not only was it difficult to keep from passing him up, he brokedown after the first 100 miles of highway.

Strength:

A beautiful car and very well maintained looks new, considering the style of the body really hasn''t changed in a decade, the handling is unbelievable, it is 4WD, All wheel disk brakes, elecrtonic air suspension, AWS... i push my car pretty hard and i have not heard it "skid" out once, not aroung tight turns or anything. Weighing in at about 3,800 pounds the all wheel disk brakes come in very handy. A perfect blend of luxury and perfomance for a reasonable price. Very sexy and sleek car, gets a lot of attention, and plenty of "head" room, if you know what i mean...

Weakness:

It''s a 3 liter DOHC, and cranks about 222 horses which is a lot and would have done this car a lot of more justice if it wasn''t so heavy, but beacause of it''s weight, it does lack in the 0-60 category, especially in japan where racing is a religion rather that an underground culture, getting embarassed by a Domani (a 2003 Civic) is not cool at all....

Amazing ride... i jumped at he chance to buy this car, because i am in japan, and there would probably be no way i would have afforded this car in the states... I get compliments all the time, I pain 4,300 for it and invested another $1,000 in a system, tints a new mufler and a few other things...
