Strength:
Great Speed, Comfort, Sound system, Body design, looks, relatively low price.
Weakness:
High price for a non-lux car, but it's exterior more than makes up for this. If you're 16 and your dad's a millionaire, don't buy this car. This car is awesome. With a touch of the pedal, you're reeling in your seat, wind blowing through your hair. I bought the RT/10 Convertible model, and it was great. The sound system turned almost as many heads as the sleek body design... I think I may have given them whiplash. |

Acceleration, looks....that's it.
Weakness:
Ok here we go, turning, weight, uncomfortable seating, no extras (but it's no big deal), gas mileage (I get about 9 miles to the gallon), iffy brakes, overheating engine, the engine has an annoying rumble, not a cool threatening one....need I say more? If you want to go in a straight line really really fast, then go buy a Viper. If you want a car that can actually turn, go buy an NSX. That basically sums everything up. This car is a perfect example of how flashy marketing affects the minds of simple minded rich people. This car obviously doesn't have as well of a defined engine as the NSX's V6 masterpeice. This car just sucks. I got rid of it after several weeks. To all you owners out there, you know this car sucks. You're just embarrassed that you spent $80,000 on a POS. Sorry guys, better luck with your next big purchase. Similar Products Used: NSX |

EVERYTHING! The car has incredible looks (wins car shows regularly), incredible power (trounces anything at the drag strip, including Saleen Mustangs with superchargers), and incredible handling (just watch any of the GT series races where the car dominates Porsches, Vettes, Ferraris, etc.) Easily the most incredible and talked-about car in the US today.
Weakness:
It isn't for the pampered folks that have to have heated seats, traction control, ABS, or even even cruise control. This is a purpose built car that can take it to the track without a single modification. Around $70K plus a few bucks for the folks in Topeka and Washington, DC. There is NO other car that can compare for the money. You can buy a Mustang and dump a ton into it (Saleen), but will never keep up with a Viper on the track. Same with a Corvette. You can buy a Porsche or Ferrari and impress your friends at the country club, but you will never turn heads like the Viper does. Do I LOVE it? ABSOLUTELY! Would I recommend it? As Ferris Bueller said, "If you have the means, I highly recommend it." (yeah, I know he said it about a Ferrari replicar, but so what! ;o) Similar Products Used: Chevy Corvette, Ford Mustang, Buick Grand National, Chevy Impala SS. Definitely the most "basic" of the lot besides the Mustang. Has more power and better handling by a country mile. It is also the wildest design on the road today and gets more attention than a Porsche would if it was on fire. |

The acceleration is incredible, and once I had learnt to drive it properly it turned out to be a very responsive car, agile and quick through corners.
Weakness:
The looks- a bit too bulgy for my taste, but I've grown accustomed to it. Easily the best of the cars that I've owned. There is nothing more exciting than driving this beast, so much so that I keep adding upgrades to boost the power, and improve its braking etc. I would recommend it to anyone who is willing to put the effort into learning to control its wildness, there really is nothing like it out there. Incredible performance (11.93 secs and 118 mph) qtr mile bone stock on a non-prepped track. Had no mechanical problems. No rattles. Lots of fun while really scaring yourself!
Weakness:
No abs. No cruise control. No remote adjustment of side mirrors. Lack of stealth - you will get an incredible amount of attention! I bought this car with 2800 miles on it and soon discovered that it needed an alignment badly. Two different Dodge dealers quoted me $500 to align the Viper. I don't know what astral plane they were on, but I got a perfect alignment job done at a local independent garage for $65. I truly loved driving this car. The Viper would always score at or near the top in all magazine comparison tests with regard to performance and that makes it a great value if performance is your only priority. The magazines would also degrade the Viper in terms of subjective criteria such as refinement. If you want an insulated, refined environment then buy a Buick. I love the sound of a powerful engine and the road noise that goes with it. To me, that's what driving is all about. On long trips I found this car less tiring than the more insulated, comfy cabins of other sports cars. If you want a true adrenalin rush then the Viper is the car for you. Now, why did I sell this car I loved so much. The answer is frustration. In the winter the car is unusable, even the hint of ice or snow will put it into a tailspin. That meant I had to stare at this beautiful beast sitting in my garage for three straight months. This, however, is not the greatest source of frustration. With a few notable exceptions, this is the slowest overall I've ever driven a sportscar. The reason is simple, ATTENTION!!!! Similar Products Used: 1999 Corvette. 1998 Supra (modified). For those who need the deadening effects of "refinement" in their sports cars go with a Corvette, but if you're a "driver" then its no contest - the Dodge Viper. Still better than the Viper is a correctly modified Supra that can give you the best of all worlds. |

Looks, speed, over-all performance, paint/color scheme, seats, driving position, value, collectability, warranty, service at your local Dodge dealer, attention, reliability. In detail: I feel that the Viper GTS (especially blue w/white stripes) is one of the best looking cars on the road. I love the raw power of the car. It's the best value for the money along with the C5 Corvette. However, the Viper holds its value much better than the mass-produced vette. Contrary to many reports, I find the car very comfortable on trips. The seats offer great support, and there is plenty of leg room. Although the transmission tunnell (not the engine) puts a fair amount of heat into the cock-pit, the a/c works great. It's also a great feeling to know that you can out-run virtually every factory car on the road (providing you can harness the power under the wheels). You can steer this car with its power. As far as attention goes, it gets way more looks than my 911 did. I've had some pretty unbelievable offers while driving this car (one even included spontaneous shirt removal from a well kept female in another car). However, I really love this car just for the car that it is - your 5th grade hot-wheels car come to life.
Weakness:
Tail happy handling doesn't always inspire the most driving confidence (thought it can be a lot of fun), and the thought of wrecking a $70,000.00 car doesn't exactly ease the dis-comfort. The car tends to feel bigger than it is when encountering curvy two lane roads, but it does handle them wonderfully. The front end sits so low that if you drive the car at all, plan on replacing the bottom spoiler on a regular basis. Call me an amateur, but I miss having cruise control. Other than that - no complaints. My experience with the Viper GTS has been a very rewarding one. Other than the fact that it comes with some limitations (it's not an everyday car), it's an absolute blast to own. Brand new, the Vette is probably a better value, but buy a Viper slightly used, and the Viper becomes the better car. Once a Viper goes through its initial depreciation, it seems to settle at a price of aprox. $55-58,000 and if you keep the miles down, it hasn't moved much from there. Vettes depreciate and that's just a fact. GM produces far too many of them. It's a shame. They lose some of thier exclusivity and they really are a great car, as well. Similar Products Used: I sold a 1994 Porsche 911 Speedster to buy this car. The Viper is faster, more comfortable, smoother, and sexier. It draws more attention and is easier and cheaper to maintain. Do not get me wrong, I love Porsches too. I also own a Jaguar XK8, but that's not really a sports car. It's a sporty luxury car. The Jag is also a pain in the butt mechanically, and the depreciation factor has been a nightmare. I'm selling the XK8, but it is a wonderful car to drive in its own way. I've also spent time behind the wheel of a C5 Corvette and I think the Vette is a great car. A little more refined than the Viper and about as much fun to drive. Unfortunately, the Vette is too common as too many are produced, although it does have lots of cool gadgets. I found that the Vettes bottoming out problem was similar to the Vipers, but not as severe. I spent 10 days in a Porsche Boxster S in Phoenix. Fun car. Great handling. Very confidence inspiring, but a little slow of the line. I was disappointed in the Boxster S' torque. I've also spent time behing the Mercedes SLK and although fun to drive, it doesn't come close to the Viper in speed, handling, or comfort. |

Well... I really don't own the car, but my dads dealership did until a very sad day when a man from florida bought it. The car was very awesome, and it would draw attention towards the dealership. Well, i'll get to the chase. Well, it was then time for dad and I to take it for a ride. Whe n we had it out, We were amazed by how much power it had. We're talking about a 8.0l v10 giving out 450hp. nuff said? This is by far the fastest and most powerful car I had ever been in. Just a little bit of gas, and the car will want to run over anything in it's way.
Weakness:
Well... I guess to some people, the viper isn't the best sportscar out there. the viper's a very fast, powerful car, but it isn't, ISN'T, an everyday car. If you want a car that you can drive ever day that has sporty look, go get the sL500. IF Chrysler wanted the viper to be an every day car, then it would be an awesome everyday car. But all they wanted the snake to be was a fun, fast, powerful, nice day car. Or a race car. THATS IT!! Similar Products Used: the viper competes with the Acura NSX, Chevy Corvette, Porsche 911, and the Jaguar xk8. (is that the right jag model?) |

It has the stylish looks, great sound, and handles anything out there with complete and overwelming finess. Nice powerful v-10 which creates amazing sound. Handles curves better than my correra. Also has amazing acceleration.
Weakness:
There isn't anything that I would do different. People whine about the "loud sound" but that is just because they don't appreciate what is really under the hood. I would certainly recomend it to any one who is looking for a fun ride as well as a piece of American history. It is fun, fast, and affordable. But it certainly isn't for the average joe. It requires a skilled driver to maintain this machine. Similar Products Used: It compares to my correra GT, and blows away my friend's Audi TT Roadster. |

Truly dangerous in wet weather, normal road deviations at speeds of 60+ can cause car to actually bounce, hideous gas mileage (oh well!) First of all, I don't believe for one second that all of you who have submitted reviews actually own Vipers.. Only 1 in 651,578 people will ever own one (through this year), and the individuals who do are typically very educated and successful; not given to the asinine typos I see proliferated throughout here. ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING!! The car looks great, feels great and drives great. Coming from a nascar perspective, Chrysler has the know-how, resources, and engineering expertise to build the highest end street legal race car. The V10 power used in fluid conjunction with the precise suspension allows the driver to control the car in ways that no other street legal sports car has ever allowed.
Weakness:
Weaknesses?? Excuse me, but I don't think the Viper engineering team knows the definition of the term 'weakness'. The Dodge Viper is a must for the true race car enthusiast. It is absolutely rediculous to think that any European or Japanese production 'sports' car could even get close to performing against this car from any point of view. THE VIPER IS WHERE IT'S AT!!
