Strength:

Good power and very roomy Ride is very smooth

Weakness:

ECM Body rollover very heavy ride is good but not as good as Honda Oddysi

I took this van on a cross country trip. It handles great on freeways and has very smooth ride. The interior layout is great. On startups, the accelration is bit harsher. I was told by the dealer that there is a problem with the ECM and Toyota is aware of it and working to correct it. Tries contacting Toyota but no response. There is already a re-call out there for the fuel tank. Hopefully they be able to fix problem with the ECM because it drives me crazy

Sound system should be better on a vehicle in the price range. Viewing angle for the DVD screen is to narrow.

Great van, very roomy with loads of storage, handles well, tight turning radius.

ENGINE TRANSMISSION POWER SLIDING DOOR

Have only put 22,000 miles on van and now have "oil gell". Had my motor REBUILT and now see that there are problems with the transmission. If I had been informed of the defect in these motors and transmissions I would never have bought this nightmare! NO MORE TOYOTAS!

Strength:

Good ride. Good acceleration. Comfortable. We like the steering.

Weakness:

The automatic door has not closed 3 or 4 times. We hope this is not a sample of problems to come. The driver's side door has stuck a few times because the botton inside the van got stuck in the PRESSED IN position. I have owned some junkers in my life, but never one where the door didn't open. Again, this van is new and thus far the only problem is the doors. Hopefully that will be it. The storage area is not very big.

We bought this 2003 Sienna on December 31st, 2002 as a year end special and got a good deal. And a good financing offer. It is a good solid car so far. We had read about the SLUDGE trouble and felt the issue had been resolved by the 2003 model. So far, we are very pleased with it.

Purchased van in April 2000 and thus far has been great, comfortable ride with sufficient power. Just a fun vehicle to drive. Van is not used extensively with only 25K miles. The only worry is that there has been no recall made by Toyota to insure that "oil gel" will not occur and if it does that it will be under the motor train warranty. If Toyota issues a recall (as it should) then all will be well.

Weakness:

Brake squeaking. Toyota will not acknowledge customer complaints.

A nightmare with the brakes and constant squeaking noise. Every time I took this to have it serviced, I asked that the brakes be checked. Each time, "Nothing is wrong, they were just dirty." We tried to go up the Toyota chain, but they will not acknowledge or own the problem. I couldn't get rid of this van if I tried.

Strength:

NOTHING!

Weakness:

Brakes, car wanting to "launch" forward at a stop.

I purchased my Sienna at the end of October 2003 and have been having problems since. The brakes constant squeals. Took it in several times and was informed this is a normal sound for all Siennas. Only thing they would do is clean and grease the brakes. This wipes out the noise for about 3 days. Also had alignment done, drivers seat track replaced, van wants to "launch" when stopped and recently..it would not start! I had to tow the car into the dealership. After a few unsuccessful tries, they finally got the van started and told me ok..nothing's wrong with it.. you can take it home! I was furious! They expected me to take home the van without any kind of service or work on it! I was told if I was to leave the car, I would be charged a fee of $85 per hour since they said 'there was nothing wrong with it'! If nothing's wrong..why wouldn't it start??? I'm beginning to think I bought a LEMON!!

Weakness:

A constant nightmare that hasn't run proerly since day 1.

A nightmare since 2 months after purchase. The automatic doors no not work. The transmission slips. The van has already needed it's computer replaced and it has less than 27K miles on it. I have had the car in to the dealership for repairs 7 times since purchase 2 years ago. This is by far the worst vehicle that I have ever owned. Extremely disappointing for the amount paid.

Strength:

Reliability; stable on the road; easily cruises at 85mph on the interstate. Interior feels roomy for driver. Cruise control, power windows, etc. still working. Fully adjustable seat.

Weakness:

Beyond routine maintenance, engine is difficult to work on - situated beneath front seats, and van rides low. It's hard to get to the engine w/o jack stands or a lift. Body is rusting in many little places.

After 1 year, I am happy. Van is at 174K miles. Really only one mechanical problem - engine died from clogged fuel filter.
