Lots of power and excellent handling. Very quiet engine and very little road noise. Stereo is extrodinary. Best I have ever owned in a car. Most if not all controls for radio, heat, air are within easy reach. I just love the power seat. I did'nt know cars like this actually existed. What a nice surprize after having driven those klunky German and American cars all my life.
Weakness:
Rear window is a bit small. Don't know why Toyota made a wiper that only wipes half the rear window. I guess that's an SUV throw-back. Would have liked to have had foglights, but they are not available for the LE. Hey Toyota wake up we live on the Westcoast, we got fog. I really did try most other Mini Vans none came even close in quality of workmanship or handling or noise. A bit pricy yea, but what there heck it's a quality car. The sludge build up in the engine, that toyota will not honour its warranty and will not fix it! noise dash, clicking a/c, a/c on full dims the lights when it kicks on. Trouble with the sliding door, thin paint full of scatches especially around the handles, Thumping front brakes. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone! We just sold our T-100. At 170,000 It had never need ANYTHING! We are living a lemon nightmare! We have done all regular maintenance need to keep the warranty valid, we even went as far as putting a much better oil in our vehicle. They say the sludge is our fault, poor maintenance, but since we just sold our Truck through them they know we maintain our vehicles. NOw they are attacking the oil we used. They say because the sludge is there it is our fault and Toyota will now honour their warranty. It is going to cost at leat 1000.00 dollars and we don't know if it will happen again! The clicking in the air conditioning and the big draw of energy it takes for the rest of the electrical is or course NORMAL they say, but it didn't do it when we first got it and our other Toyotas never did. I really loved my Toyota's but the service and Qualily really is very very poor. I hope no one else goes through this. In life this is just one more big HEADACHE! Strength:
Smooth riding vehicle, very very quiet and comfortable, elegant looking leather interior and good gas mileage. Love the steering mounted controls for audio. So far, no problems whatsoever. This Van is rated most reliable by Automobile Association and J.D. Power & associates.
Weakness:
Sound system improved but not as good has the Nissan Maxima's bose system. Would prefer heated seats with memory settings for driver's seat and mirrors over automatic sliding door. Replaced our 1998 Nissan Pathfinder with the Sienna which: Similar Products Used: Honda also has a good product but we don't need such a big vehicle. |

Smoothness, very quiet, powerful, luxurous and car like handling. Roomier than a Ford Expedition or Chevy Tahoe and drives like a Lexus.
Weakness:
Price is high for a minivan This van rides like a luxury car, I'm glad to get out of the rough ride of a SUV. I forgot how good a car ride can be after driving my SUV for so long. I tested the best and only the 01 Chrysler Town and Country comes close to the smoothness and quietness of the Sienna, but with its break down history and bad resale I chose the Sienna. The 01 Honda Oddy was loud and rough, when I drove both vans back to back the Sienna blew the Oddy out of the water for comfort and the feel of a luxury sedan ride. Oddy was however bigger. I also had good dealership experience which makes a lot of difference. AFter reading some of these other reviews I was scared but I'm so glad to have bought this van, its the best driving car I've driven including as close to my wife's Lexus as you can get. I paid 800 dollars over invoice for a MSRP van of 36,962. Similar Products Used: Chrysler Town and Country, Honda Oddyssy |

Our Sienna has racked up about 48000 mi in 24 months. It is wonderful to drive: smooth, quiet, and powerful enough for me. Nice logical controls, easy to use audio with good sound, A/C works great, heater is powerful enough (you check those things out when you live in the Great White North...) We bought an XLE with leather interior, and I love the luxury feel of the car. Seating is flexible, but the seats are a bit heavy. The dealer (Jack Safro, Brookfield, WI) has done a great job. Kids love it. My family travels by car a lot (1000+ mile drives) and I never hear "are we there yet?"
Weakness:
1) BIG turning radius makes if harder than most to park. We paid about $29,000, with leather, XLE package, the works. If something happened to the van, I'd buy another one tomorrow. It hasn't been perfect if someone knows of a perfect car, please let me know :) -- but overall, it's great. Strength:
Smooth Ride and handling. Engine very quiet and has plenty of power. Seats are quite comfortable. Nice features at the mid-level trim (LE).
Weakness:
Poor audio system. Radio controls positioned too low (but audio controls on steering wheel help eleviate this problem). Cup holders in front too low to floor. This is my first van, and I love it so far. Haven't had any problems yet (knock on wood). Although there are bigger vans on the market, I like that the Toyota is smaller and more maneuverable. Has plenty of room for me. Would recommend the Toyota Sienna to anyone considering a Van or SUV. I also think that mini-vans are superior to mid-size SUVs. Even though the mini-van image is not as "cool", they are 1)cheaper, 2) more comfortable, 3) get better gas mileage, 4)haul more people and things and 5) are more versatile over-all. Saftey is why we bought the Sienna. I have never driven a van and found this one pretty comfortable.
Weakness:
Turning Radius, Windows fog up in Cold Weather this is a constant job while driving to keep the visibility, Automatic Door has had to repaired twice, The tirers I have had to replace, front Left I have replaced 3 times with 37,000 miles. I have two sets of tirers one for summer and then one set for winter. It's not the tirers. The reset button concerning the tirer will not stay off, it is on and off always. My front right speaker blew this week. Stitching came loose on the headrest. I chose black for my Sienna, big mistake you can see every ding. Sound system is horrible. Their is no use for the cup holders on the second row of seats. Not enough storage space in the back. (neither did my expediton) I like that it is easy to get in and out of. I have to babies in car seats and I find it easy with the Automatic door (that is when it is working). It gives you a comfortable ride. Price was right on and I might recomend in a few years when they work out all of the bugs. Similar Products Used: Hondas, really never had any problems. I will look at the Honda Oddessey next or just go back to my Ford Expedition. |

Weakness:
I have had the third complete air conditioning installed on my Sienna with only 28000 miles on it. The third system was installed in May and it has made extremely loud, squeeling noises since it was installed than can continue for 10 minutes after turning the ac on. I have had it back to the dealer and I was advised that they contacted Toyota technicians who advised them that the noise is NORMAL.. It is strange that he vehicle's ac never made similar noises with the prior two air conditioners. I have had both sliding door locks replaced on two occasions at which time I was given all sorts of reasons why the door handle buttons were stickin once deresses and the doors would not close. On my last visit a technician advised me that Toyota is aware of these defective door parts and after a wait of 7 weeks I was notified yesterday that my new door handle systems have arrived. I was also advised by the technician that the Sienna air conditioners installed on 1999 model Siennas are defective and they are being replaced with a new modified system only after customers complain enough times. Great way to run a car company. I intend to dump this lemon and trade it it for a reliable Ford Expedition. I will never buy another Toyota product. 27000 NEVER AGAIN Similar Products Used: Ford Explorer: a thousand times more reliable than my Sienna |

I liked the smaller dimensions and nice handling compared to the buck of the Honda Odessey. Very quiet and nice finish. I got the XLE vesion, but I think I like the LX without the security pkg/alloy wheels.
Weakness:
Engine check light went on at 75mi on the odo and many others I've talked to with 55 mi on the odo also have the same problem due to either the torque converter or sensor in the transmission. I've been waiting for the part for over a month and was told the dealer would contact me when the part arrived. I ended up calling the dealer to make the appointment. I haven't done the repair yet. Other problems I'v notice is the paint scratches/swirls easily. I don't like the Firestone tire. Price was 26,500 through the sales manager/owner with a 10% interest over 3yrs. Yeah, we got screwed on the financing but I think the van was a good purchase overall with the exception of the transmission I will later find out. Similar Products Used: None |
