Strength:

this van when we bought was a great vehicle,it had lots of room and was great on vacations.

Weakness:

now after owning it after 3 years later everything started going wrong with it. Here's my story after the van's mileage at 65,000 i started to spending money like you would't believe it,it was one thing after another, first the map sensor went on it at 65,033 then the brakes went at 66,774,the radiator had to be replaced at 68,000,the transmission went on it at 88,000 miles on it ,then the starter went at 94,000 the serpentine belt at 95,000 ,next your not going to believe it the transmission went on it again at 113,000.I got to tell you I'm 44 years old and i travel 85 miles a week to go to work and i take very good care of it by changing the oil on it every 3000 miles and i keep a good maintance record on it with 3 inches of repair orders on it.I am a married man with 3 children and this van turn out to be a piece a junk.I will never own a chrysler product again. oh I forgot one thing the interior started to wear out the arm rest got loose and will not tighten up again and also the van rattles like hell this all started after 3years later. Now its time to put this piece a junk in the junk yard.

that van cost me 19,000 and its was'nt worth it,the 10 years that i own it i spent at least another 10,000 just to keep it running i have the paperwork to prove it.I would'nt recommend it to a dog! I hope chrysler gets wind of this story. thanks!

Strength:

You can fit alot in this mini-van.......thats about it. Oh, it also looks better than all the other minis out there.

Weakness:

There are so many..... where do I start? Wears out tires, brakes. Doors get jammed easily. Hard to clean. Weak acceleration. back door gets jammed and won't shut all the way. Over heats alot. Bad bad bad bad customer service.

The worse car I have ever owned. I will be trading in asap. I have had to replace all parts of the braking system twice in three years. I have had to replace tires twice in three years. I just now have to replace the entire transmission $2000. Thanks Plymouth. You have convinced me to never ever buy american again.

Strength:

Smooth ride, Solid construction, reliable, fairly decent mileage, lots of room, stainless exhaust, dual airbags, price.

Weakness:

No power, Chrysler Dealer, ugly.

We bought it in '96 with 70k miles on it for $6000. Only failure was right rear slave cylinder on brakes. Was fixed at low cost by goodyear. Just normal maintenance has been done. Belts, oil changes, tires,,etc. 120k miles now. Engine began using oil 1 quart every 1k around 105k. Changed to 20w50 and oil consumption as decreased to about 1 quart every 3k. Transmision is 3 speed non electronic. Has been reliable, but is slow to lock up last gear now. Gets 20 mpg no matter how I drive it. Been an excellent vehicle so far, and will probably just keep repairing it till it dies somewhere over 200k miles.

Strength:

It is a roomy vehicle; good for those after school practices.

Weakness:

Bad transmission, it's had an oil leak, air conditioning has broken down, the belt broke, problems with the oxygen sensor, the inside of the vehicle is falling apart( arms of the seats, air conditioning vent). The check engine light keeps coming on, and when placed on the machine, no specific problem noted. Right now, engine is missing. Several tune-ups have not solved problems. I'm ready to put it in the junkyard.

I ended up paying more than the original price because this thing is constantly in the shop. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE EVER EVER EVER AGAIN!!!! Especially if you are a person who drives as part of your responsibility. I.E. Delivery Person, Home Health Nurses, People with children, even with the room. I would not want you stuck on the side of the road with the entire soccer team in the back.

Strength:

Great family carrier good gasmilage, no major engine or transmission problems, yet! Still maintain excellent pickup and power.

Weakness:

I have a 95 which has been previously stated has a crappy rear suspension, sways like a covered wagon, the rear window molding leaks and seeps black goo all over the window and the interior plastic molding is cracking and breaking. Now the paint is bubbling and flaking off all over the vehicle.
Any recommendations or others you have come across I would certainly be interested.

NO!

Great vehicle compared to the 2001 Mitsubishi Montero which has no guts, pickup and built for very narrow/skinny people to drive.

Strength:

Lots of room ,very comfortable for long drives. 3.3L has decent
power and good gas mileage on the highway.

Weakness:

Lifter clatter on hot start-up, front break wear , steering seems to follow the crown of the road.

I would recommend this vehicle to anyone with several children. It has plenty of room ,and with the seats removed it can be used
for moving a decent amount of cargo.

Model Reviewed: / Grand Voyager

Strength:

Fantastic amount of space, with excellent dual side-door access.
Strong engine (3.3L) with quite reasonable fuel consumption for size of vehicle.
Refined cruising with easy trans-European ability at 150+km/h.
Good styling - known in Europe as 'The Range Rover of Vans'.
Child appeal esp high seating position and ability to carry all those friends and toys.

Weakness:

TRANSMISSION!!! Completely replaced at 55,000 kms and again at 105,000 kms, despite no towing or abnormal usage. When car was returned to Lease company at 120,000 kms, the same problems were appearing again (usually preceeded by a delay in engaging Drive from Neutral). At least the vehicle never actually left me stranded .... but make sure you have the extended warranty and maybe change the transmission at each major service - just to be safe! If I'd had to pay for these personnally, I'd have torched the car on the dealer's forecourt long ago.

Avoid beige interior trim with children ... some of those food, juice and vomit stains never came out!

After so much practicality over 48 months, I made a (test-drive influenced) decision to go for something faster, sleeker and sportier - a Saab 9-3 with high output turbo. The Saab is an excellent piece of kit, with the ability to rocket 600 miles across Europe in an unfeasibly short time BUT in the real world where 95% of driving is done, there is not a single day that I do not miss the Grand Voyager's high driving position, easy child access and sheer load carrying ability.

I now have another 42 months to repent at leisure before my next MPV. With luck, Daimler Chrysler will have even fixed the transmission by then!!

Land Rover Discovery TDi (UK Spec):
Grand Voyager has much greater capacity and is a far better proposition for relaxed long distance cruising.
Safer than Discovery (try an emergency lane change at 150 km/h in a Disco and you'll be viewing the road at 90 degrees from verticle!)
More then enough mid-range acceleration (100km/h to 150 km/h) to surprise many an unsuspecting BMW / M Benz.
Surprisingly competent in snow and ice - but obviously no match for Disco.

Strength:

Good value. Good engine.Lot's off room.
Easy assess for most maintenance.
Comfortable seats.

Weakness:

Quality of parts. Why would a transmision need replacing($1600.00) at 54,000 miles? Many other parts seem to be cheap too.
Side bumpers need to be larger.

The safety ratings versus the Ford Windstar.

Would I recommend it? Yes, but get the extended warrenty you will need it.
Vehicle was purchased new for $22,500.

Vehicle is very quite running and very quite inside.

Not a home run, not meant for intense use.

It is a huge improvement over prior years. The 2nd door is great.Turning radius is great.

There are better vans out there for quality. But this is probably the best value.
