Strength:

this is a much more solid feeling vehicle than the dodge -- both in road feel, and in the door handles, steering and body rigidity. the trans is very aggressive and shifts well. the rear windows are unmatched.

Weakness:

not too many color/interior choices. the stereo is adequate.

OK, I've only had this van for a week now, but I owned three Chrysler vans, going back to 1985, and did more research, test drives and informed consideration on this vehicle than on any of the eight new vehicles I've purchased in my lifetime. I was born and raised in a chrysler home, and have almost always had chrysler products. when I bought my first voyager in 85 (2.6L Mitsu 4), chrysler was the only van player. Mazda has always been the mfg that waited before jumping in and then hit a home run with the definitive example of a "mature" technology; I ordered a 626 before they were introduced in 1979, when everyone was paying $2,000 mark-ups on Accords; ironically, I started out with my sights on an Odyssey, and ended up here, with a better vehicle for less. check "Consumer Reports" this is an amazing vehicle! My ten-year old keeps saying "dad, this car rocks!!" it has one of the biggest anti-sway bars I've ever seen, and the 5-speed automatic is aggressive. I stepped up from the 140hp mitsubishi v-6, which I always admired for a peaky, free-revving character (as opposed to the chrysler 3.3 ltr). this one is all that and more! the 4-valve head rushes on just as quickly, but stays on the buzz longer; it's fun watching the tach bounce up close to red line through each of the five gears. the stiff suspension, in concert with the Dunlop radials makes this thing really, really hug the road. and the seats are amazing. my driver's seat has three different adjustments, and it's very comfortable for long rides. It could be a little more dished in to match the performance attitude, but HEY this is a minivan!!! MY DOG LOVES THE REAR POWER WINDOW. the middle sliding seat is brilliant, and the back seat is an excellent play on Honda's great idea. I got the 6-CD changer. I also got it $200 over invoice, and an additional $2,000 mazda discount. total price 20,800!!!!! long may you run.......

Strength:

well built to last. not expensive to drive, compared with other vehicles of the same weight.

Weakness:

mazda dropped this SUV that looks like a van, for a van that tries to be a sports car. and it seems all the gear went to the tribute, a SUV that is only an SUV.

i bought this 4x4 SUV (but it looks like a van)cause it will go anywhere anytime. i read all the reviews here and poo on the bad ones, this is a fine vehicle. it had 180k when i started drivng it 4 months ago and it's close to 200 now, with no problems. the belts will all be changed this month and i expect to drive it for a few years. my local mechanic loves them, just regular maintenance. i think they are a sleeper and for my next one, i will look for the best lowest mileage 1998 MPV before they went FWD only. the new MPV sould be called simlpy a VAN.

CD PLAYER KEYLESS ENTRY 3RD ROW TUMBLE HANDLING JAPANESE MAKE DEALER SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT POWER WINDOWS AND DOORS

Weakness:

MORE COLOUR CHOICE COULD OF BEEN AVAILABLE VAN REALLY SEATS 6 PEOPLE WITH THE 3RD ROW SEAT BEING FOR 3 KIDS; NOT AS COMFORTABLE IN THE 3RD ROW

The MPV is a pleasure to drive. Don't let the fact that this is the smallest mini-van on the market fool you. The MPV LX is equipped with many luxurious features including the sensational 3rd Row Tumble Down Seat which stows right beneath the floor for the owner to store many items of cargo. The 2nd Row Side-By-Slide system is wonderful feature. The front row seats as just as comfortable as the back seats. The keyless entry is great with auto lock and unlock. The CD player is awesome. The MPV handles like a car. Bottom Line: A spectacular van!

Strength:

Great handling, very smooth and solid riding van. The wonderful ease of removing the seats around was also a factor in our decision to buy this van.

Weakness:

Working the windshield wipers on the steering wheel is very confusing for me !!!

We read a lot of van reviews and decided to purchase a Mazda MPV in 2002. No dealers in our town so we began an out of town search. We test drove two of them and loved the ride. Great solid ride. We did not want a HUGE van and this Mazda is just the right size for the two of us and our large Bernese Mt. Dog.! We are not sorry about purchasing this vehicle. Definetly not.!

Strength:

Nice ride. Good workmanship. The rear seat folds down inside the floor so you don't have to remove it. Excellent acceleration. Priced well.

Weakness:

Narrow third seat is made for children not adults. When the car is in drive the gear shifter blocks access to the volume control on the radio.

Great car at a good price. Handles like a car. Very good acceleration. Nice ride. However, the van really only holds six people, not seven, and the volume control on the radio is blocked by the gear shifter.

Strength:

Ride: Excellent. Comfort in driving, confident in cornering and power from the V6 3.0 200HP 5-speed Auto is simply a joy to drive.

Weakness:

Rear view mirror could provide a wider angle view but, not a big deal.

We purchased the Mazda 2003 DX with the following Option Pack; Includes 15'' Alloy Wheels and Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler and Heavy Duty Radiator, Cruise control, power door locks, power heated door mirrors, power windows, 3 in 1 audio, front passenger under seat storage box, and overhead console with 2 storage pockets.

Strength:

warranty, fit & finish, price, my dealer was very professional.

Weakness:

gas mileage so far is very unacceptable at 13 mpg, probably could have had a jeep or hummer.

I love this minivan, the features are great so far. Shifting from first is sometimes hard. Bigest issue 13 mpg around town with limited parkway. Had a 96 Mecury Villager 68k miles got at least 19 - 21 under same driving conditions. Going to the dealer for the first check up. need to address the situation, will follow up. I'm having trouble with value and overall rating if we forget gas mileage i give high marks. But no options are given for need to follow up. In light of thei i will give fair deal, subject to my experience. Again, this is a premature evaluation...details to follow.

Strength:

Excellent handling, acceleration, easy to park, flexible seating and storage, Japanese quality, lots of features, great price and financing rate (0%),reliability reports.

Weakness:

Roof rack is an option, gear stick blocks heat control.

Owned a Dodge Caravan; it had more repairs than all of our other vehicles combined. Honda Ody was too expensive and the financing was not attrative. New Sienna: won't buy a first year model. Old Sienna: the features cannot compare to MPV. Chevy Venture: lousy offset crash rating. Windstar: reliability issues.

Similar Products Used:

1994 Dodge Caravan:nice handling, decent gas mileage, still looked good, no rust, but mechanically inferior and prone to unreliability.

I love it. smaller than my 2000 Nissan Quest but handles like a car. Wife loves it, Kids(3) loves the power sliding door and 2nd row windows(not to mention the DVD).Includes fog lights & roof rack. I thought it's a great deal for an even $ 24K(includes Tax, title, new tag + fees). Dealer was great, I researched the internet for 2 months, and made deals thru the internet.
