Strength:

Drives like a car, easy to drive.

Weakness:

THE SMELL! Gear shift sticks out in front of radio controls.

Like the fact that it drives like a car, like the drop in seat in back. Am very annoyed with the sulfer smell. Service dept says that it is an undercoating to prevent rust while the cars are waiting in dock. Says the smell should burn off in 1000 miles. I hope so - very annoying, can''t run the A/C because the smell blows into van.

Strength:

Fit and finish. Interiorlayout.Good passing power with full load.Nicest looking of the vans.Great repair rating.

Weakness:

Awful stiff ride, especially after riding more than half an hour.Didn''t notice this during 2 ten minute test rides.

Hard seats and stiff suspension make for an awful ride. Have to get out after riding a half hour. If you need a van but want a sports car ride, this is your vehicle. It handles very well. If you want a van to take the family on long trips look for something else. If Mazda can soften the suspension, I would highly recommend this van. Fit and finish is terrific, everything seems to work great, and the interior layout is tops. Great power and smooth transmission.

Bought a Tribute from Anaheim Mazda and I got ripped off. They included a bunch of hidden charges on my contract and when I complained to them they said ''tough luck !!''. I then complained to Mazda and they said they could not do anything about it. I should have bought the Ford Escape. I will never bought another car from Mazda and specially Ahaheim Mazda & Hundai

Strength:

Compact. Drives like a car. Horse power is a big improvement over the earlier models. Good safety rating. Hide away back seat. Roll down back windows.

Weakness:

The should have made the engine bigger a lot sooner. I''m glad I waited.

I am very happy with our van. The 2002 bigger engine helped the horse power issue. It ride great. I test drove the dodge and the honda. I thought this had a better ride. Carvans did not seem as nice. Honda is way over priced.

Strength:

Looks, hidden bench, passenger roll down windows, and stereo system.

Weakness:

MPG 21-22, hoping for better because of size of van. Gear shifter blocks some of the controls on the stereo. Arm rests too low.

We were originally looking for an Oddysey, but like many others we were turned off by the price. Even used Hondas were selling for 22-25K. We purchased our MPV LX (loaded) for 12,800 with my Accord trade in. It only had 14K when purchased. After putting about 1500 miles on the van, I am convinced that I made the right choice. It handles great in the snow and the dual heating system is fantastic. Do not forget about the hidden third row bench and the passenger roll down windows. My dog is very happy we made this purchase. The sound system is also great. I agree that the MPV is a bit underpowered and it strains at times when I accelerate too fast. Once it is up to highway speed it drives great. Very smooth at 75-80 mph and the cruise control is very efficient. We definately made the right purchase.

Strength:

Relatively inexpensive, neat looks, plenty of room, no mechanical problems

Weakness:

Cheap factory tires wore out at 18,000 miles. Cupholders kinda chintzey...

After 2 years and 32,000 the car looks and runs like new. No problems at all. Slightly underpowered in hilly terrain but the tranny is smooth and handles it. Cupholders are pretty shoddy but other than that quality is good. Several recalls due to minor items but this was the 1st years model

Strength:

Quality seems to be there. Lots of room for kids, dog, luggage, etc.

Weakness:

Rear wheel drive was terrible in the snow. Gas mileage so-so.

We got the MPV from a family member with about 200,000 kilometers on it and 9 years old. We have put another 40,000 kilometers on it and have had not one problem. The original owner had an oil leak problem that was fixed under warranty. Other than that and some very minor things you might expect from other cars, it has been a fantastic car. I recommend the trailer towing package. I just traded it in for a 2000 MPV. We''ll see how the new design / engine / front wheel drive performs.

Strength:

All the perks as stated above. Like the rolldown windows in the back, the 2nd row bucket seat which slide together or apart and the 3rd row seat, when up, leaves a nice divet for groceries.

Weakness:

Horsepower (but I don''t care), the armrests are a little low.

Love the looks of the "minivan" - I think of it as a big wagon. My insurance agent thought it was an SUV, not a minivan - so I think it''s by far the "coolest" looking minivan out there. Smooth ride. We got the car loaded (TV/VCR, 6-disc in dash CD player, moon/sun roof, etc.) My husband and I fight on who gets to drive it. We wanted a 2002 but the dealer didn''t have them in yet - hubby didn''t see the point in paying more for the extra horsepower in the 2002 model. Highly recommend.
