I have the 2002 Kia Sedona and this A/C thing seems like a common problem. Multiple trips to the Dealership because the Air Cond. blows hot air. All types of parts replacements, of course I had 62K miles on it. The latest episode is that it worked for a month and now again blows hot air. So they will try a new part, it is on back order and will be another week. The good news is the weather will be cooler soon and my wife who drives the van will start coming home in a better mood |

We loved that we could get captains chairs, leather, sunroof all for a reasonable price. Still love the interior and the way it has held up.
Weakness:
TOO many times in the shop. If your ac is losing cooling - take it to the shop and make them replace the whole thing. We played the its a hose or its a pressure switch thing even had the blower motor and comptressor repaired. These repairs would work for a while but the ac kept breakingf. It would stop working after about 20 minutes into a trip. The dealership couldn't duplicate the problem and so no fix. Now two months later its out of warranty, and the compressor is shot. We were told by out dealership taht since we had such a doicumented history of ac problems that there would be no qwuestion that KIA would cover under warranty, unfortunatly the district guy didn't agree. I would never ever buy another KIA, they may look great for a low price, but the quality of the parts is such that you better be prepared to spend a lot of time in the service waiting room. No matter what your service manager guy tells you, a documented history of problems will NOT mean KIA will stand behind their product. We initially loved the van. Until we started having numerous mechanical problems. We have had it in the shop 10 times for ac work alone. I would rate this as a do not buy. Keep in mind there is no corporate KIA, so if you have a problem and the regional guys says they won't fix, your only alternative is to go to court as this guy is the final say in the KIA mgmt structure. Any other manufacturer, there is still someone at corporate that can usually help you out. Similar Products Used: GMC Safari |

Good comfortable ride with adequate power. Dash lay out is excellent. Appreciate the ample storage compartments
Weakness:
Vehicle could be a little quieter on the highway. Had to have the transmission replaced at 60000 miles and its back in the dealers again for a similar problem at 80K. Check engine light eliminates and the vehicle losses power. Kia Roadside assistance was excellent and very responsive. Both times Kia dealers (Oyster Point Kia in Newport News VA and Malloy in Woodbridge VA) were extremely responsive in correcting the problem by replacing the transmission. If not for the transmission problems, I would have been totally satisfied with the overall performance of the Sedona. Not sure if this problem is a fluke with my particular vehicle. Both dealers assured me that this is not a systemic problem with the brand, but I’m still researching. I would suggest further research on transmission reliability before committing. Have 80000 miles on the vehicle. Vehicle has ran terrific with very few exceptions. |

Everything This vehicle is a piece of junk. It had 68000 miles on it at purchase. I have had to replace the altenator, battery, valve cover gaskets, cam seals, lower control arms, tie rods, cv boots, timing belt, serpentine belt, speed sensor, and it is back in the shop for the 6th time with a check engine light on that ford cant fix and now the van has been shipped to a kia dealer because they cant figure out what is wrong. Make this a don't buy in your book. |

Probably this car does best when traveling fast. The engine tackles hills with ease and the cruise control works flawlessly. The upholstery has held up well even with two kids spilling and having fun in the back. The car has an overall good body integrity and seems to be built with quality in mind. The paint seems to be very high quality as we were hit on the drivers side door by another car, and 1,800 dollars of damage occured. Nevertheless, the power window and locks still work and the paint still did not chip off the crashed door. Nobody was injured in the crash. The pillar and the fender were not damaged.
Weakness:
One of the indoor reading lamps inside the passenger compartment has had a short. The dealership claims that they cannot get the lamp to produce the same problem so the short cuircuit is still there. We are now at 31,000 miles the air conditioner stopped cooling. We had noticed a decrease in air conditioning effeciency for a few months. The air finally went out and Kia of El Monte California quickly diagnosed the problem and replaced 2 hoses free of charge. The air is fine now. That same dealership claimed that my dealership in El Paso failed to flush the transmission fluid out of the car. They said the tranny fluid did not appear red enough and "looked dirty" Kia El Paso says they will stand behind their transmission oil change at 30,000 miles. The car has performed almost flawlessly. It has power both on the highway and on the street. All interior controls are well thought out and well placed. The handling of this vehicle is more like a car, except for some body roll. Mirrors are large and adequate to cover blind spots. Seats are heavy, but easily are tanken out for cargo. All rear seats are equipped with wheels underneath to facilitate rolling into a garage. |

Comfortable, reliable, strong V6 engine.
Weakness:
Rear seats do not fold down, so a little difrficult to remove. Plastic molding in rear cracks easily. This is my second Kia vehicle and I'm glad to return to Kia. I traded my Kia Sportage for the Sedona Minivan. This is the base model, so for the price it provides a comfortable roomy ride for my family. The rear air and heater work great, good CD sound system and plenty of room for kids. I currently have 16,000 miles and the vehicle still rides like new. |
