Honda Odyssey Minivans | Wagons

Honda Odyssey Minivans | Wagons

DESCRIPTION

The Honda Odyssey minivan lives up to Honda's reputation for refinement, convenient features and great fit and finish.

The Odyssey is available in four trims: LX, EX, EX-L and Touring. All trims use a 3.5-liter V6 engine mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. The EX-L and Touring trims carry the most recent version of Honda's variable cylinder management system (VCM), which allows the V6 engine to switch among three, four, and six cylinders to increase fuel efficiency. The interior features a third-row Magic Seat that folds into the floor. Maximum seating capacity for the Odyssey is eight passengers. Safety features such as side-impact and curtain airbags, four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes, traction control and an electronic stability system are standard on all models. Luxury features such as leather trim, dual-zone automatic climate control, satellite radio, navigation and entertainment systems are available.

The Odyssey carries-on for 2010 with minimal changes

Weakness:

Overall, this car has been a headache. We bought it new, maintained it properly,

Could have been a really good vehicle, too bad Honda doesn't believe in Quality. The first thing to go out was the Speedometer - funny thing is the odometer continued to work - over $500 to repair - not under warranty. ABS light comes on - dealer doesn't know why. Front end pops, clangs rattles - however you want to describe it - anything, but quiet - dealer claims nothing wrong. Door ajar and annoying ringing chime stays on constantly - dealer claims nothing wrong. A/C quit working in the rear - dealer "nothing wrong" This is worst vehicle anyone can own. Once the warranty period expires all the problems will start. I don't wish this vechile even to my worst enemy. I tried to talk to customer service representative, but they are no help. All they want to say is once that warranty is expired, you are on your own. This vehicle is not build to last. It is built to ruin your life.

Strength:

Lots of room. Storage space galore. Safety, had a rock the size of my head hit the windsheild at about 100mph closing speed, thank God for safety glass. Engine is great.

Weakness:

Stereo system blows, on a van like this I was very disappointed. Get an aftermarket HK or something before you live with it. They should have painted the underbody runners below the doors the same color as the van like on the Accord EX's. So stupid not to. Wish our model year had the four wheel disc brakes, so much easier to work on. Auto doors should slide freely as an option, to much of a pain to push closed if you have to.

With 5 kids and 4 car seats, this van fits the bill. No other van has the room or comfort. Travelled across the country with it, tires are just down to their wear marks after 52k (3yrs). No problems whatsoever. Only problem I've had are morons dinging the doors in parking lots! grrr. Other than that the van has been rock solid. I do all the maintenance and it's easy to work on. Be sure to change out your transimission fluid regularly (i.e. every 20k or so) and you'll be fine. Did get a notice from Honda extending the transimission warranty to 100k miles. Auto doors are very cool and been extremely helpful when shopping by yourself with 5 kids. Better than any other van on the market in my opinion. And no, I do not work for Honda. Hope to drive this thing for at least 10yrs before buying another.

Strength:

The engine is strong.

Weakness:

The engine is noisy. Wheel does not tilt enough. Excessive road noise.

I am very unhappy with this van considering the amount of money we paid and Honda's reputation for good cars. I have to compare to my 96 Caravan Sport that I traded in. The Honda has much more road noise. The power steering requires much more effort. The transmission does not engage quite right but the dealership says it's me. The door seals became very sticky which again I was to blame. They used silicon twice. The third time they replaced the seals. The service writer again made me feel that it was my imagination but they replaced them to make me happy. The mechanic was kind enough to tell me there was a service bulletin on this very problem. The front seals seam to be getting sticky. Something sounds loose in the right front end. The air conditioner has to run full which adds to the noise in the van. The wheel does not tilt enough. I am really affraid of that transmission.

Readers Watch out. Honda is missleading people. I can see Honda damage control in full force on this site. Beth, Alvius, GuyGuy, JohnQ, Ruku Young, Beth Anne, miriaicpa, elusive tiger, Ironman5729, Chin Gong, Gopilot, Pablo, whitec42, John, Len, MacBethNY, Gary ,Elizabeth, gopilotand few other nicknames are the same person. He or she is Honda employee (posts coming from the same IP#). And you can trace his or her IP# to Torrance,CA , Guess where the American Honda HQ is? What is Honda trying to achive by this? It is so obvious it's posted by the same person.Just look at these positive fake posts. Every time someone posts negative review about Honda Product, within hours this person fills that review board with positive reviews and attack negative poster. What is interesting it works like that only during the week. On the weekends these positive reviews stop. I guess Honda person doesnt work weekends. This goes not just for Odyssey but other Honda products as well(just look at the CRV). Also this Honda employee posts reviews on other automakers products putting them down. You can see his posts on Toyota or Chrysler boards. ASK YOURSELF A QUESTION> WHY HONDA KEEPS THIS POSTING PERSON ON THE PAYROLL? HONDA IS FIXING REVIEWS OF HONDA PRODUCTS ASS WELL THE PRODUCTS OF OTHER AUTOMAKERS.

Strength:

4 wheel disk/antilock brakes, rear folding seat, good space, built in safety, entertainment system, side/door air bags.

Weakness:

No fog lights, cross bar for load, cargo cover - Some of this should be standard rather than add-on. It ended up cost more to add this items.

Wonderful van. We've had our Odyssey over a year now and it's great!. We drove several minivans and my wife insisted on Honda. Very elegant with lots of space. It was worth the wait. At 15,000 miles, It's just great. No problem. The doors work great. We enjoy our music in front and the kids watch their DVD using head phones. Well, constantly remind the kids to turn the head phones down. No more complaints, the whole family loves it. With the kids, you can have the MB 400SE but not the van.

Strength:

Comfortable, roomy, nice exterior look, handles great

Weakness:

Should come standard with cross-bars on luggage rack, should have power windows, locks, etc. lighted

We have had our Odyssey for 8 months now and we LOVE it. We drove several minivans before deciding on the Honda but none of them even compared in our opinion. We had a little difficulty finding one when we made our choice but it was well worth the wait. We are at a litte over 15,000 miles and have had no problems and have only had to take it in for routine service. The dealership is wonderful and a pleasure to deal with. Unfortunately we were already involved in an accident but I'm happy to say the van did very well in keeping all of us safe and unharmed. We already took it on a road trip (14 hour drive to Florida) and were very comfortable on the drive (all 5 of us!) The kids couldn't be happier with their DVD player and dual stereo, they too love the van just as much as we do! I highly recommend this van to anyone.

@&^%$^!! AUTO-SLIDING DOORS! STEREO! PRICE! FIT AND FINISH!

I too was sold on having the "Honda quality factor". I needed a Minivan and always wanted a Honda, perfect!Being in the sound business, hauling equiptment, I was sold on the magic seat.I looked on the enternet for info and I was sold. When I went to the dealer to ask about it, they laughed at me thinking I could get one. Then I got a call the next morning to come down, they had two. There was actual fist fights from other people the other dealers there called. I guess I wasn't supposed to be called. Anyway, after staking my spot all day, I got one. After paying "above"sticker with all the extras they could put on it,for the privledge. Now the fun part. THE @%$#&*^ SLIDING DOORS!!! Nothing but trouble. I can't even count how many times I've had them "fixed"! They even had the nerve to tell me I might have to pay for the repairs and I told them that would not be happening! Last Time about two months ago and a couple of days later, they still don't work right. On top of it,they broke the boot around the steering colunm I think the government should get in on this one. For a car that cost me this much, this is unacceptable. Also the stereo has actually $3.00 speakers. I am not kidding, check it out.The noise factor really bothers me. Between the rattles, road noise and gas tank.Who were they kidding with those speakers? To make matters worse, every time I have taken my car in for service, they break something else. Sometimes nothing to do with what they are supposed to fix! One time they blew up my stereo. When he told me I laughed thinking he was kidding. Joke on me! I agree the fit and finish of this minivan leaves much to be desired. Other than the problems, the engine is great.

Great vehicle, I have owned several Hondas and they are rock solid and reliable. I had an 88 accord and put 275000 miles on it. The only major items replaced were alternator and clutch. I bought an LX and had leather installed. Classic Touch car interiors. They did a beautiful job.

Transmission Problem

Horrible experience with this van. Three days after I purchased honda odyssey at 300 miles, the transmission broke. Brought back to dealer and they fixed the problem. I know it won't last long, Because right now experiencing a loud knock when I shift Drive to Reverse its already sign of another problem. I'm just glad Honda knows about the Transmission Problem and they extended warranty to 10 years/100,000 miles at list.
