Honda Odyssey Minivans | Wagons

Honda Odyssey Minivans | Wagons

DESCRIPTION

The Honda Odyssey minivan lives up to Honda's reputation for refinement, convenient features and great fit and finish.

The Odyssey is available in four trims: LX, EX, EX-L and Touring. All trims use a 3.5-liter V6 engine mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. The EX-L and Touring trims carry the most recent version of Honda's variable cylinder management system (VCM), which allows the V6 engine to switch among three, four, and six cylinders to increase fuel efficiency. The interior features a third-row Magic Seat that folds into the floor. Maximum seating capacity for the Odyssey is eight passengers. Safety features such as side-impact and curtain airbags, four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes, traction control and an electronic stability system are standard on all models. Luxury features such as leather trim, dual-zone automatic climate control, satellite radio, navigation and entertainment systems are available.

The Odyssey carries-on for 2010 with minimal changes

Strength:

Power, room, ride, safety and the kids love the DVD.

Weakness:

Goodyear tires, they make the van vibrate while going down the road and certain speeds. Gas mileage not great but it's a van.

I love the way this van handles and the power. It has all the get up and go you would want. There is plenty of room, cup holders, cubby holes and pouches to put extra stuff. It's roomy and my husband who is 6'2 has no problem riding in it. The kids love the room and the dvd player. I have had no problems, other than the tires and it seems to be a very dependable van. The gas mileage isnt great in town about 18 but out on the highway I get around 22/23 mpg.

Strength:

great van otherwise

Weakness:

michelin should stop making this tire,,and Honda should put a good quality tire on a van that cost over $38,000. and put in a spare. Not sure I would buy another Honda because of the way customer service has handled this problem.

great van..however the tires are run flats, michelins.PAX ...27000 miles and are worn out.I'm 63 years old and don't do turns on two tires....neither honda or michelin will stand behind then and say 30000 miles is all you can expect..had a flat, a nail, went 2 miles to a honda dealer, the sidewall cracked and was unrepairable.so much for the 55 mph and 100 miles to get to a dealer..the tires are $180.00 ,a gel pack $15.00 and $40.00 labor.. special equip. and special trained personel, who was not there the day I was there.HAD TO WAIT UNTIL THE NEXT DAY.I think $1000.00 every two years for tires is out of line.Honda does not provide a spare tire in these vans, so if your traveling out where there are no dealers, you could spent few days to get a replacement.

Strength:

Power everything, Roomy, and a really good looking minivan.

Weakness:

It unbelieveable that safety is everything and then there are no daytime running lights or automatic lights. I can't remember the last time I purchased a vehicle without this as a standard option.

I love my Honda Odyssey. It did take some convincing and checking all possibilities before I decided that it was the best vehicle for me and my family. I didn't want to become the "soccer mom". My kids love the vehicle and my friends are amazed when I open the door and show them all the features. I did go with the leather seats and sun roof. The ride is smooth and comfortable. For those who don't want the minivan image.... you are missing out.

hONDA oDYSSEY 2002 - reported first signs of transmition problem to dealer at about 110000Km. nDealer would not do anything until the on board computer captured the event. It finaly did after 1000KM over the extended warranty. Honda would not cover the cost of the replacement. Also electronic sliding doors often will not open in winter due to freezing.

I have the 2007 Honda Odyssey and it is the worst vehicle I have ever owned..

1. You need to put a average person off of the street and ask them to work the radio. Try switching the XM radio to dvd playing with kids control in the rear and then play you music while your driving. Owned the vehicle three months and my wife still cant figure the thing out.

2. The vehicle has low front end. Wife always rubbing the bumper on curbs and driveways. All the other owners that we know say the same thing. I know the bumber will be pulled off..

3. If you are tall, gas gauge obstructed by steering wheel. Ask me, I ran out of gas !!!!!!!!!

4. Arm rests too short for a guy in the front seat.

5. Game control plug ins are next the third seat.. You will have your kids jumping over the seat to get to them while your driving..

6. GPS 50% of the time will take you the long way instead of the direct route.. It's hardly recognizes voice commands..

By far, the worst vehicle I have ever owned..

Overall, I am happy with the Odyssey. It is comfortable, gets good gas mileage, and has been fairly reliable. It is a great family vehicle and I sometimes use it like a truck on the weekends for trips to the transfer station, Home Depot, etc...

Almost everything else. Van will still run 90+mph all day long, loaded (remember, I'm running on 4 little cylinders), transmission (shifts hard, but no problems whatsoever), exhaust (one brokend clamp bolt @ 100kmi, leaking @ 150kmi), interior,

Weakness:

Mileage - 24mpg HWY unloaded driving easy. 12V outlet in front cabin. Rear wiper?

I had to post a review on my van after having just pounded Honda on my '01 Civic on this site. Going over 10yrs old w/ currently >150kmi and this van, with the exception of rust related problems, is still going strong. There are no other problems, except maybe the rear wiper is getting loose. Tows my boat (near the towing limit of the van) w/ no problem. Unloaded, this was the quicked van from 0-60 when it was released in 1995. I love smoking unsuspecting dolts at stoplights. You can do the same thing w/ a new Odyssey now, but there's no fun in that as everyone knows it.

Problems: All road salt related - brake lines replaced due to rusting through, cheap rotors will rust from the inside and tear up pads, all doors except drivers stiff to open and no one can get them lubricated right to loosen up (I even had the door panel off and don't know what else there is to lube), body is starting to rust, had to lube rear gate latch (by removing access panel).

Mods: Prelude wheels.

Transmission failure

Sliding doors stick, have to open from the inside! That's real safe for my kids!!!
Poor gas mileage
Untrustworthy Coorporation
Bad service

Buyer beware! Do not buy any Honda at this time! We bought our Honda Odyssey because it was a HONDA! With great reputation, should come great responsibility. This is certainly not the case at this current time. Prior to buying our Odyssey we had been driving a Honda Civic since 1993, loved it! This is not the same company that built that car! We bought our 2001 Odyssey used with 75,000 miles already on it for 13,000. Now I know why we got such a good deal! After reading many of the reviews from the past few years, it is obvious to me that Honda was putting junk transmissions in many of their vehicles between 1999-2003. Unfortunately, we have fallen into that category. Our van has 101,200 miles on it and is out of warranty and the transmission is in failure, it will need to be rebuilt and will cost us, out of pocket, anywhere from 2,000 to 5,000 dollars (depending on who fixes it). Here's the kicker...within the last two months we received a leagal notice in the mail informing us of a class action law suit currently underway against Honda for transmission failure in said vehicles. The desired settlement is an extented warranty until 93 months, or 109,000 miles. There is a fairness hearing on December 28th to hopefully decide the matter. Our problem now, a transmission in failure, no way to pay for the new transmission, and a pending lawsuit which may or may not reimburse us if we have our work done at a Honda Certified dealership. Now for the really hilarious part. In talking with my local Honda Certified Dealer about all of this, I was told that unfortunately at this time Honda does not even have a transmission available for my car? WHAT? How can that be possible? Are you saying you can't even fix it right now? Well, I know this place in California where I can probably get you one.....? How much? $3,300! And labor? $800-900! Needles to say, we cancelled our appointment! So, our plan now, you ask? Wait for the transmission to sieze up, which it will, have it towed to our house, let it sit there until the lawsuit is done, and pray that the warranty will then cover our new transmission without out of pocket expense to us. What will we drive when this happens? Who knows? It has all been very unfortunate, and I am deeply concerned about Honda's future if this is how their customers are treated! Please heed my warning...do not buy any Honda right now until they are willing to stand 100% behind the products they manufacture!

Strength:

Safety. Drives and handles well for a van.

Weakness:

We used to have the EX now have the LX because the power doors would not work sometimes. We are VERY happy with the LX, even if it doesnt have all the bells and whistles the EX has, it sure is a great van, less to go wrong.

I love this van. It drives smoothly and is perfect for me and my family. Last week we got into an accident. We were hit from behind, they were going 35 miles per hour. It caused us to hit the truck in front of us. Needless to say, we are all fine and my van is drivable and doesnt look like it was even in an accident from afar.
