Honda Odyssey Minivans | Wagons

Honda Odyssey Minivans | Wagons

DESCRIPTION

The Honda Odyssey minivan lives up to Honda's reputation for refinement, convenient features and great fit and finish.

The Odyssey is available in four trims: LX, EX, EX-L and Touring. All trims use a 3.5-liter V6 engine mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. The EX-L and Touring trims carry the most recent version of Honda's variable cylinder management system (VCM), which allows the V6 engine to switch among three, four, and six cylinders to increase fuel efficiency. The interior features a third-row Magic Seat that folds into the floor. Maximum seating capacity for the Odyssey is eight passengers. Safety features such as side-impact and curtain airbags, four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes, traction control and an electronic stability system are standard on all models. Luxury features such as leather trim, dual-zone automatic climate control, satellite radio, navigation and entertainment systems are available.

The Odyssey carries-on for 2010 with minimal changes

Strength:

Looks, powertrain is good, 2002 model has even more horsepower and rear disc brakes and side impact air bags....

Weakness:

Low fuel warning comes on early, with about 6 gallons left.

The best mini van I have ever drove. Rides like my accord and very roomy.

Strength:

100,000 Km and the only service has been change the Transmission fluid at 95,000 and change the front break pads at 65,000 Km and only at my insistance as HONDA said I still had plenty of live on Pads.

Weakness:

What?? Weaknesses???How dar you even suggest this Van could ever have any WEAKNESSES@@!!##$$$%%%

I bought this van for its conveniences,Easy to get in and out of,Fold down 3rd seat,Power everything, etc I find this van's performance keeps getting better all the time.Gas Milage isn't bad and it keeps getting better.I am a strong believer of changing the oil filter every 5000Km,Reguardless what HONDA Says(every 6500 Km)I rotate tires every 10000 Km,burn only Ethanol blended gasolines.

Strength:

Excellent space utilization. The third row seat that stows in the floor is very nice. Good handling and power. Comfortable and roomy.

Weakness:

Brakes had to be done at 40,000 km. Should have disc brakes all around instead of the disc / drum arrangement. Paint quality on the hood. All the rock chips on the hood are showing RUST. My sister in law has an 11 year old MPV with mega-chips on the front end... no rust. No vehicle I've ever driven has shown rust that quickly. Also, the sliding doors tend to stick quite badly, especially after washing. Stereo / radio qualtiy not up to competitors.

Nice vehicle, but could use some improvements.

After months of consideration, we decided to purchase a Honda because of reputation, reliability, etc. I have ONLY 2700 !!!!! miles on the car, it's THREE MONTHS OLD and the Cam Shaft/Engine busted. Needless to say, we are "extremely" upset, but what makes it worse is the way the dealer has treated us. We had to fight for a rental which is so small I can't fit my family in it. The sales woman I dealt with was barely friendly when I had to personally go to the dealer to find out what happened to the van and the manager just sat there with a cocky attitude. Of course, they are replacing the "damaged" pieces, but who needs to spent $30,000 on a "brand new" car and now have one with a partially replaced engine????? Honda is also aware of this problem because it has back up engines to replace these. Is this car safe? Will I EVER go to this dealer again? Absolutely NOT!!!! And I'll make sure nobody else I know does either.

This van is nothing but trouble. in 18 months, Front brakes and rotors replaced, new transmission, hew alternator. Water leak around the door. No surprise this van is on US gov. Lemon list. The 2002 Car Lemon List Thanks to the efforts of the Center for Auto Safety, we are able to provide you with the vehicle complaints on file with the National Highway for Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Each year, thousands of Americans call their government to register complaints about their vehicles. The federal government collects this information but has never released it to the general public. The complaint index is based on a ratio of the number of complaints for each vehicle to the sales of that vehicle. Very roomy back seat, third row folds into floor.

Weakness:

This sound coming from the A/C/Heating unit and no onw seems to know or care what it is. Has anyone else had this problem?

Van is great however, since week 3 after purchase, when we turn the car on for the first time of each day, and then turn the A/C or heat on, the car makes this horrible grinding sound for a second or two and then does not do it again until the next day maybe the day after. It occurs worse in the extreme hear or cold. We have brought it to our dealership many times and they have performed the following to fix it: 1) replaced a bracket 2) replaced the blower motor in November 2001 3)replaced the compressor and clutch May 2002 Now they are telling us that Honda has sent out a memo stating that many 1999- 2001 Honda Odyssey's make this noise due to coolent and there is nothing that can be done about it. We have a 7 month old child and when I put her in the van and it makes this noise, it is so loud she is very startled and she screems. Now my wife and I have to start the car first and leave her in the house.

Strength:

Lots of power (240 hp), very flexible (removable seats, magic seat, lots of storage), great handling (small turning radius), drives smooth, very nice!

Weakness:

Cannot seem to get it for less than MSRP. Some things are worth paying a little more for. I was more comfortable in the Toyota Sienna's seats, but I drive a Toyota Tacoma also, and the seats are the same. I am not uncomfortable in the seats at all. Please note my wife and I are short, so no problems with short armrests or anything like that.

We love this minivan! After reading many reviews, and discovering that you get almost no storage area with the Toyota Sienna, we went for the EX model. We had a little trouble with the dealers in Phoenix, (no one would sell for MSRP...they all wanted $1000+ more, plus a wait of 2 weeks to 6 months), we called up the dealer in Prescott. They had several on the lot, and even had the model and color we wanted! They knew what was going on in Phoenix with the Price fixing, and we were happy to pay MSRP, given the resale value and the quality. Only had one small rattle in side door and framing, they took care of it immediately. After reading the reviews on this board, we are glad we opted for the extended warranty (7 years, 100K miles). We plan to have this car for at least that long.

Strength:

Roomy Easy to drive

Weakness:

Sliding door fail frequently Car is unpredictable, some times won't start. Many onnoying smaller problems- windshield wipers, entertainment center, uncomfortable seats, no glovebox lights. I would expect more of a 32,000 car

We have had many problems with this car. The entertainment center did not work properly and was fixed, then the antenna on the inside of the window for the TV fell off the window, also the TV antenna on the outside rattled so much we took it off. Then the rear window wiper broke the first time we used it. The automatic sliding doors would not close properly, they would not latch. This happened about 10 times, each time going back to Vista Honda for service. Even after replacing both latch assemblies for the doors, we still had problems. The last time we insisted that they be replaced with the 2002 models latch aseembly, so far that has been OK. Several times the doors would not latch when we were some distance from home, so we had to drive with the doors not latched and the alarm going off...very irritating. Now we are dealing with the car not starting for the second time. This means towing the car to the shop and then repairing it. the first time it was on ignition fuse. Today's problem has yet to be diagnosed. It is no longer under warranty, so I am expecting to have to shell out some big $$$. The warranty for us ended at 24 months, although the car only has 24,000 miles on it, it no longer covered. We loved this car in the beginning but now are very disappointed with our purchase. We have always owned Hondas, in fact our other car is a 98 Accord, that has been absolutely problem free with 63,000 miles on it. I am very upset with Honda about this car and will no longer purchase their vehicles
