Strength:
The only strengths that this van has is it is comfortable and has a DVD player.
Weakness:
Everything This van is the biggest nightmare! I will NEVER own a Chrysler again in my life and cannot wait to get rid of this one. Have had transmission problems starting 6 mos after purchasing the van. Yet, everytime we take it in they tell us they cannot find the problem. The back hatch has flown open while going down the interstate, the motor in the passenger window went out, and have had 3 oil leaks and just recently there was a vapor leak. The transmission problem has yet to be found and/or fixed. We also had to fork over more than $600 to have the brakes and rotors replaced with around 30,000 miles on it. My husband has a 1998 Ford Pickup that has yet to have the rotors replaced. Not to mention that we have had less problems with his truck than with my van. We, thank God, bought the extended warranty but each time we take it in it costs us $100 and this van is going to $100 dollar us into the poor house. I am so fed up with this piece of junk. We bought a new vehicle so we did not have to worry about these kinds of things. Unfortunately, we bought a Chrysler. Don't make the same mistake. Strength:
The ride is smooth and comfortable. The bag hooks are so handy. I don't know if I could do without them if I ever change cars. The automatic side and rear doors are a needed convenience when your hands are full, or when it is raining. The power and handling ability are superb.
Weakness:
I wish Chrysler produced an all wheel drive van. No weaknesses that I have found I love this minivan. When I was considering a new car 5 years ago, I had rented a car while my Pontiac Bonneville SSEI (loved it, too) was in the shop. The rental agency had run out of cars and offered me the Chrysler minivan to drive. I was sold on it due to the easy way it handled and the ergonomics of the dash. I also like the lines of the body. I drove it in heavy Southern California commuter traffic and it handled effortlessly. I was looking at SUV's and minivans because I was retiring and wanted a good travel car and a car to haul "stuff", since I was going to do lots of chores at home.

It fits seven people.
Weakness:
Biggest piece of crap I've ever driven. If I could give it a negative star value rating, I would. We purchased this van two weeks before our third child was born. For the price of the repairs we have had to make, we could have purchased a new one.

Smooth and quiet ride; roomy and comfortable.
Weakness:
Unreliable; repair nightmare! I am original owner of this vehicle. It may ride quiet, smooth and feel safe but it has been nothing but a repair nightmare! And after speaking with several other owners, my problems are not uncommon. Have had it to three dealerships (hoping one would be able to diagnose) for various problems such as no-start, check engine light and airbag light on dashboard. None of whom could pinpoint, therefore, repair the problems. As one who believes in buying American products as much as possible, I will go with Honda when this nightmare ends! FYI: did you know that Daimler/Chrysler has a Customer Assistance phone line that may provide you with financial assistance on diagnosed repairs from dealerships? After receiving the diagnosis from a Chrysler dealership and PRIOR to any work being agreed upon or started, simply call 1-800-992-1997 and explain your situation. As long as the problems are not related to routine maintenance, such as new brakes or tires, they will do a little investigating and try to provide some financial assistance by reducing costs on parts and labor. Also, there was a recall on the AC compressor mentioned in one of the reviews for 2001, 2002 and 2003 Chrysler and Dodge models. Inquire about these things prior to paying out of pocket and don't get so frustrated with dealership service as they are the ones who have to fix the recalls. Similar Products Used: Dodge Caravan |

Good ride, good power, stow away seating
Weakness:
Brakes, power seats and mirrors. Stow away seats are not as comfortable. Engine is noisier than our 1999. I concur with other reviewers concerning the brakes. Just had to replace our front brakes PLUS rotors after 23000 miles. (Bring it in immediately if you hear any kind of grinding noise.) But biggest issue for us has been power seats and mirrors with the remote control memory setting. My wife and I each have our individual settings which you are able to switch back and forth between when you hit the 'open' button on the remote. But we have had the car in now six times because the memory settings don't hold. There seems to be some problem with the memory module which the dealer can't figure out. Sometimes the memory setting is lost completely, other times I have to hit the open button up to 10 times to finally get the mirror to go to my setting. With this latest trip to the dealer, they report that there is a faulty brake pedal sensor (you can also have the pedal position tied to the memory setting which we don't use)which they claim is causing the problem. Funny how they never diagosed this before. Anyway, we'll see if this fixes the problem. I'm somewhat skeptical. Similar Products Used: This is our 4th chryler mini van. We still have our 1999. That one has 115000 miles and still rides great. No problems with remote memory settings. Doesn't burn a drop of oil (I change myself every 3000-3500 miles). |

Drives well. Comfortable seating. Space between the two middle captain's seats helps keep the kids from hitting each other. I also like the individualized lights for each seat.
Weakness:
The 2001 Town and Country. Chrysler, remember when the feds had to bail you out?

We bought our Chrysler T&C in July 2003 and had an in-floor wheelchair ramp put in. The 2nd day we had it, the A/C went out and had to be fixed. Since then, we have replaced the brakes too early, fixed the transmission, had electrical problems that prevented the mirrors or seats from moving. One time the seat warmers stopped working. In the last month, our A/C quit again, the wipers won't turn off, the turn signals flash the opposite indicators, the radio controls don't always work, and the automatic mirror dimmer stays on all the time. Chrysler dealers have always refused to work on it because a wheeldchair ramp was put in. They always tell us that is causing our problems, but when we take it to a shop that will repair it, the problem is always with the Chrysler work - not the ramp. We paid $49,000 for it not including the ramp cost. It's ridiculous to purchase something for that much money that performs as poorly as this car has. I won't buy another Chrysler considering this is the kind of junk and poor service they have to offer. |
