Hmmm.... Good pick me up as long as you aren't doing a lot of highway driving... then it just can't keep up over 65 mph. Cute... very cute... but like I said...

Weakness:

See above... I think that about summarized my experience.

DO NOT BUY A BEETLE! Hello... this car is only the worst car that I have ever owned. If the gas flap would just work without me having to pry it open every time, and my windows would not fall down I would be in great shape! All of the wiring seems to be wearing out on my car and I barely have 50,000 miles on it. My airbags have to be fixed... $250... My spark plug wires have worn out... $100... My window fell down last week, but it was covered by a recall fortunately. My battery died when the car was only 3 years old and VW charged me $250 for a new one because they said the computer has to be reset every time the battery is disconnected. I called several different dealers on this issue and got a different answer every time! I have had terrible luck with all but one VW dealer that I have been to. Ash Tidswelle in Jacksonville, Florida seems to be the only VW dealer that gives a crapola about their customers. My back hatch opens usually on the third try. My door handles have been peeling off since the car was only a year and a half old. I think I am going to buy a 1985 Buick and call it good. If you plan to buy one of these cars, just be aware that the computer system is truly a hastle and the warning lights may very well start confusing you because they come on so often. I truly loved the style of my Beetle when I bought it. I am going to miss what a cute car it is, but like they always say, "You can't judge a book by it's cover." Looks are not everything...

2.0L engine is a good match for the car. I enjoy the creature comforts available such as heated seats and telescoping steering wheel. I also enjoy how they made the engin sound like the old Beetles.

Weakness:

Body panels don't fit well and appear to be cheap in quality. Lots of rattles, groans and creaking from body. Throttle response is poor to non existent the first 2 inches of pedal. Although handling is fair to good, to much ride quality was sacrificed.

Disappointing coach work and general quality. Good design and option list.

Fuel economy, handling. This truelly is a great car to drive.

Weakness:

Four times this vehicle has had the Mass Air Flow Valve changed. Costs $500, vehicle is now out of warranty. You'd think VW would address this problem but they don't. Rear brakes have problems too, had to be replaced at 35000kms.

Very roomy car I stand 6'4" and this is with the sunroof. Car is a TDI and that is the most impressive feature of the car. Fuel economy is great, with automatic tranny I'm getting between 800-1000kms on a tank of fuel. Handles well, and it brakes really well. Very tight back seat though, more of a two person vehicle.

Style, personality, different from all the box cars out there. Like I said before NB can be a bit of a high maintaince car, but its just like me. No, one is prefect. I still love my car!!

Weakness:

Blind spots, but you'll get use to it after almost hitting other cars, just tell them to get out of your way. Beetle coming through :) Cheap interior, my panels and other parts started pealing. Expensive repairs for a student/artist like myself.

This car is a beauty a bit of high maintance car. Loves its oil. Has been in the shop a few times and can get a bit pricey. My car is a everyday car I drive it everywhere. I use to try to keep him dent and scratch free, now I just call them battle wounds. The style is...well, what can I say since the moment I laid eyes on this car I was in love. Love @ first sight!! No Doubt. I love souping him up too. Hondas have nothing on this car!!

Style, and road handeling. Roomy. My husband is 6ft 4in. and has lots of head room. It's a vision of beauty in red. The seats that heat up all the way to the lumbar region are therapy after a double shift of running on a nursing ward for 16 hours.

Weakness:

Uses too much oil. uses almost as much gas as my mothers 1971 Toronado. This was a surprise to me. Electrical system is not supported by the battery. Not reliable to start. Will go dead at any given time. VW mechanics hade a cavalier attitude. Bar on left side of windshield is a bit of a vision impediment, but one can get used to that. Over all the car is a great dissapointment, because the problems simply cannot be fixed, and it is becoming a money pit. Sorry!

Beautiful style and lovely to drive. Uses more oil than I would have imagined. In the shop over 10 times in less than 3 years. Only 45000 Kilometers. Battery cannot maintain the electrical need of the car. I have spent close to $2000 on the car since the warranty ran out. Problems with the windows. Window switches replaced. Fan to cool motor keeps running for hours after the car is turned off, thus draining the battery. Told I cannot leave my cell charger plugged in when car is not in use, even tho cell phone is actually not attatched. This car cannot sit for more than 10 days without needing to be jump started, and then the battery trickle charged....Don't go to Hawaii for more than 10 days!!! I am the only driver...45,000 kilometers on this little beauty. But the beauty is only skin deep. I can't take the aggravation any more of not knowing if my car will start or not. I am an on call RN and need reliable transportation. I am very let down, and the mechanics just reset the computers when the engine lights come on...until the warranty runs out, and then they are suddenly diagnostic masters. As much as I love the style, and the way it handles, I will trade it in on a PT Cruiser. VW and I will now part company and I have been a faithful client since 1971. These cars should have been recalled, at least for the electrical problems. Every nurse that knows me is aware of my problems, and are giving the local VW dealer a wide birth. Word of mouth is powerful, and VW should take notice. Sory, I wish I had more positive things to say. I was so in love with my shiny red bug when I bought it. Never again!

Drove 1971 plain beetle, and my husband drove the 1971 Super Beetle for 17 years. One battery lasted 14 years. We never had a single complaint. We bought the 2 '71 Beetles new, and were hooked from then on. We were delighted when the new Beetle came back. Alas, it has only cost me money, interruptions in my work schedual and tears.

See above...Workmanship is number 1

I have had very mixed results with the new VW Beetle. I had two in college and they drove with half an engine. When something broke I could usually handle the minor stuff. A far cry from the current Beetle. It is a yearly thing for me to put aside $200.00 for out headlights. Be advised you can not easily change them yourself, so don't even try. I have gone through 3 headlights in 3 years, and talked my way out of one ticket, because my dealer couldn't fit me in. Watch for the faulty workmanship. 3rd break light just broke $200.00, Hit a pothole and shorted the fuel pump relay $200.00 Service Engine Light usually is a trip to the dealer for an Oxygen Sensor. They replace them for free now. Had the Mass Airflow Sensor go. I refuse to fix it at $460.00. The window crank jammed and was repaired under warranty. Now the turn signal goes out periodically. I usually am down a quart of oil, every 2500-3000 miles. In closing, it is a modern version of and old friend, but with a nickel and diming friend like this who needs enemies.

Fun to drive until it breaks

Weakness:

The check engine light has come on 4 times in the past 3.5 years. Twice in the last 3 weeks. It has cost me $200 each time.

This is the worst car i have every owned. The dealer loves the $200 it seems to cost every time the check engine light comes on. (4 times in 17,000 miles) They don't want to admit that the turbo has a problem that should be fixed under warranty. No help has been offered by the dealer or volkswagen to fix a known problem. I am now going to try the state lemon law to get rid of this car.

Weakness:

none so far.

I really like my new beetle. I've had it for 5 months and the only problem that I've had it the automatic windows will immediately go back down when trying to put them up. I live on a gravel road. The dealer sad it was dirt getting inside. They cleaned the tracks and have been ok since. I have the turbo, 16" wheels, two-tone leather interior. It's been a great little car. My husband is 6'4" and has plenty fo room for comfort. He is amazed of the room it has. He raced with a new porcshe and had to let him have it because they were running out of a 2 lane. That was exciting
