Strength:

It's cute. It's bright. Lots of head room. Did I mention cute?

Weakness:

Cheap plastic crap held together with super glue. Too low to the ground. Need's a metal piece under the car to protect anything. Remember when cars actually had metal put on them?

The new beetle is certainly cute, but it's a piece of junk. I got duped into the sheer sweetness of it all, only to be making monthly payments on colorful plastic crap. Right now my inside cheap- plastic-interior is falling apart. The middle arm rest never stays mounted in place, and falls down when every you place your arm on top of it. My C.D. player sometimes gets very loud and I'm unable to turn the thing down, and have to turn the radio off. The gas petal is too skinny and too close to the break petal, so anyone with big shoes has trouble breaking at times. The engine cover that's is 'protecting' all of the delicate wires under the front of the car had snapped off three times already ( I asked the dealer about that, and they said it was designed to break off! WTF?!), right now its taped under my car 'till it goes to the shop next week. It's too low to the ground, so its grinds the front grill that's also made of cheap plastic, into little splinters whenever I want to get close to a side walk, or even pull out of my driveway. Even my floor mats have snapped apart. The plastic rings that anchor them into place have snapped right off of the mats. And who in the hell invented thoes cup holders? Sheesh!

Strength:

styling, convertible looks great with top down. 6 speed tiptronic is fun

Weakness:

cup holders proven history of electrical problems mechanical problems endless customer service problems lots and lots of problems problems

junk. not even 1000 miles on it, check engine light comes on, the window snap crackle pops, and the fuel cap lights on. its at the dealership in pieces because they don't know whats wrong with it. the two parts they have already replaced didn't cure it. the beetle has been out for a while and wouldn't you think VW would learn from its mistakes, like the window recall, the windows fall in because the plastic thing that holds it breaks and when you take it in they replace it with metal ones. now wouldn't it make sense the go ahead and put the metal ones in at the factory? my 2004 still has plastic and its broke!..stupid. also someone stated in this site how they loved the car and would never buy american and will only buy german cars...news flash...all beetles in US are made in mexico...hmmmm so are the jettas, and they have accumulated many of the same problems. another thing, VW customer service sucks..they don't care as long as they get you through the warrenty period...they have your money. then your on your own, they show no concern..just a oops we know attitude. don't buy this car!! consumer reports rates it as one the top 5 worst cars ever made...look it up.seriously. we wanted to take a chance. learn from me and many others i do hear lots of good things also, but most havent had over 50,000 miles..just wait... oh, almost forgot to mention, the stereo doesn't turn on sometimes..gotta keep pushin the power button until the screen lights up.

Strength:

The look and the little features like the insturment panel, the flip key, seat warmers, and side mirror defrosters...just too cool :)

Weakness:

no CD player, the cup holders, and the idle problem

A Volkswagen Beetle was my dream car, and I am just so lucky to have it! I am very pleased with it. The only thing that I would have hoped to be different was a CD player and a sun roof, but I am not picky...I still love it. The only thing about it is that it is not certified and when the air conditioner turns on it idles harder and louder. Something unusual, that I need to get checked out. Good gas mileage, but when you are 18, you burn more than you want to think about anyway! I agree with all who said that the cup holders are not all that great, a little inconvienient if you ask me. Other than that, it is a great car with a great look and a good ride.

NICE interior, lots of headroom and legroom, backseat room isnt bad either. My husband has a lot of room and he is 6'3. The colors at night are awesome with the blue and the red.

Weakness:

The only weakness i think is that the cupholders underneath the stereo only fit soda-can size drinks.

I have not had any problems with this car. It is black with black leather interior, 1.8L turbo-charged engine, GREAT luxurious car to drive. When I bought it it had 23,000 miles on it. My husband and I drove it across country to California where we live now, and we havent had a single problem with the car. Everything is nicely put together, ALOT of fun to drive, especially with the turbo. I will never drive American made cars again, only German, they are the best!! I am probably only one of the few people who hasnt had a problem with this car. The lights at night are great too.

Strength:

Everything works, and have you EVER seen one pulled over?

Weakness:

The '99's need an armrest for the driver between the seats, and the cup holders are under the panel, so only pop-can sized cups fit, that happen to be stubby.

I've read most of the horror stories in here, but this one is going to be different: Driven 10,000 miles in 6 months (total of 44,000 on car). No rattles, squeaks, broken body parts, exploding batteries, freakshow electrical system problems, run-away headlights/taillights, self opening windows,or left me on the side of the road. Great power and gas mileage (if you bought a 4 cyl with an automatic in any brand or model-thats your fault). Burns a tiny amount of oil (which overhead cam engines are supposed too). Handles rain, crosswinds, and bad roads well (no snow here in TX). Plenty of room for two people-and I'm 6'4.

Well besides its adorable outside appearance, it's got a 6 disc changer thats out of the way. It's surprisingly very spacious. It has the same gas milage as my former cars, which isn't bad. I can't imagine not having it!

Weakness:

The only weakness I can think of is the small trunk space. It's hard to transport large items because the trunk is so small, but I didn't buy the car for its storage space.

I LOVE MY CAR!!! It's fun to drive. It's adorable. I'm 20 and its perfect for me. I'm a college student who doesn't want anything too big but yet something still stylish. It gives a smooth ride and the only time I've taken it to get worked on was for check ups and oil changes.

Fun car to drive. Everyone looks at it. Interior color awesome!

Weakness:

The whole car besides the looks suck!!!

I bought this car and thought it would be a great car that would last. 2 weeks after buying it my oil light came on. I checked the oil to find there was NONE!!! I put 4 qts of oil in it and took it to the dealer. They said nothing was wrong. Its been in the shop 3 times for different things in 3 months. 5 days ago again the oil light came on and once again no oil!! I put oil in it a checked it today.....1 qt left! I called the cooperate office and they said the car is normal and it will go through atleast 1 to 2 qts. of oil per 1000 miles. I only went 300 miles from the other day and it has a qt. left a qt.!! This is the worst car ever!! Dont buy one. I've had it going on 4 months and already have to trade it in. Not to mention there is now a squeking noice coming from the front axle that vw said they fixed it and didnt it is worse!

Strength:

The cab of the car has alot more space than it looks, alot of headroom in the front. It has an exellent A/C and might I add the seat warmers are great especially when it is thirty and below outside. I love the leather interior because it is so easy to keep clean.

Weakness:

They could have backed off on the heat a bit because it about burns your eyes out the sockets because it is so hot. The could have put the 6 disc changer in a more accesible place than the trunk.

I haven't had this car for a long time but it has been a great car especially for me. It has a lot of extras that old car did not have so of course I like it!

Nothing, it doesn't even look cool for me anymore... it was like the beautiful girlfriend that cheated on you after 3 months of dating....what a shame right?

Weakness:

Extremely expensive, the dealer takes advantage of your lack of mechanical knowledge to have you in their shop every three months. Unfortunately no even VW can answer questions to their customers, they simply admit their mistakes, no wonder why their stock is been down and it seems that It'll not stop sunking!

I just want people to know that buying this car is the biggest mistake one could ever make. I has so many problems, is not reliable, is inefficient, consumes more than vehicles of its size. Mine has been in the shop 8 times, 4 of them for the never-ending reasons that you all know, the engine light and the air bag light. for the former the dealer Koppell VW, says is always another harness, I've spend in this car more than 3000 dollars since I bought it.
