Strength:

It drives well. Seems to have a lot of power in it, though I haven't driven it on an interstate yet.

Weakness:

I've only had it for about a week, and already the air conditioning stopped working, the top won't come down, the door handles are peeling, the seats are all cracked. I turned off the car and had the key in my hand and it was still running. Also, the gears get stuck, especially when it is in park.

It's my first car and very cute looking.

Drives smoothly, quiet, strong, durable, efficent on gas...

Weakness:

I cant name a thing, nothing on my car is peeling.

First of all, to all these people who have so much to say about this car, your wrong. I bought my car because I had just started driving. On the 5th of august I got my liscence and got into a car accident while driving. I must say no car has ever held up so well. Barely anything wrong with it even now. Maybe you just werent taking care of your car. Mine is great...and I wouldnt trade it in for anything.

nothing but problems since I bought it!!!

Adorable, fun & THE WORST NIGHTMARE!! I bought this asa certified used vehicle & have had nothing but issues. side paneling falling off, leather trim coming out from under window seals, ABS warning light coming on for no reason, at 67k miles the transmition went out!!, power windows breaking...major problems & would NEVER recommend buying a VW!!! Even purchased additional power/tran warranty & had issues with Masterguard paying for the transmition repair.

Strength:

-looks nice. -back window is glass

Weakness:

-seat belt light comes on for no reason -check engine light comes on -noisy as crap when you go above 40 mph -side molding comes off a lot, to many times to count -turn signal comes on for no reason -parts are very expensive -could only get windshield wipers at the dealership $$ -overrall this car SUCKS, please think twice before purchasing any VW car. -replaced so many lights, not funny -

I was so excited when I purchased this car. I traded in a VW Golf for this. Big mistake!! The same day I purchased "the used" car, my seat belt light came on, even though I had my selt belt on. After that problem after problem. And still having problems til this day. I will never buy another VW car, ever. I had a Huyndai Scoupe, that I had no problems with, now you know thats sad. I'm glad they discountinued this model, I think it's for there good.

Strength:

Reliability. Only done 55,000 miles but totally trouble free. Peppy engine with more power than I thought from a 109 hp engine. Low down torque is satisfying. I love the manual shift. It is a nice car to drive. "Drivers needed" is a good advertisement slogan. Roof is easy to put up and down. This car was built in Germany so maybe that is why mine is trouble free. Heating and ac are very efficient Solid glass rear window.

Weakness:

The beige trim and beige vinyl roof get dirty. Can't really get grime off vinyl roof. Wished I had chosen leather for interior trim. Rear window sealer squelches out like chewing gum.

I have always wanted a convertible but had small children so needed four seats. Lean towards european cars but didn't want to pay too much. That narrowed it down to the Cabrio. The Miata was a close second.

Strength:

I heard a lot of "cute little car". Personally had the black on black which was pretty stylish.

Weakness:

Unfortuneately, there is not adequate room here: I will be ever so brief: All of this occurred before the car was 24 months old: *Bad Ignition * Bad windows operations (the cost to repair motor was $500.00 @) on both front windows *electrical system went out causing the air, heat, odometer, spedometer, gauges, etc. to fail * front lights had to be replaced * clumsy KNOB to recline the seats broke * handled to lift seats broken and fell off * battery used water (WHAT?!) and had to be replaced with only a VW battery by a service VW dealer, because they made it so that if the VW battery was taken out, the security would fail on the car * the service department was clueless about the above.

It is with hope that the consumer wanting to purchase this VW product will read this review site and take heed to what they find out:

PEALING DOOR HANDLES

ALWAYS WANTED A CABRIO SINCE I FIRST SAW ONE, WAS IN THE MARKET FOR A CONVERTIBLE AND PICKED THE CABRIO BECAUSE OF THE ROLL BAR. I HAVE 3OK AND NO COMPLAINTS AS OF YET EXCEPT THE PEALING DOOR HANDLES. RIDE AND HANDLING IS GREAT. HAS MORE PEP THAN I EXPECTED FOR AN AUTOMATIC.

Weakness:

ordering parts

Don't get me wrong, I love my car. I have wanted this car for over 10 years. It had 14 miles when I bought. A little over 6 months later I was backed into by a 4 door green Chevy Tahoe. I took the vehicle in the next day and currently I am still waiting for it to be fixed. I has been 5 weeks and the news is the same "We're at a national shortage and can not get the parts" I am disgusted in the fact that a car that was purchased less than 9 months the dealership is unable to find new parts for the car.

Strength:

Car feels very steady on the road. Leather roof very durable, no signs of cracks and rips. The girls do love the car though....

Weakness:

I spent about $1000 dollars in brake repair in the first year of ownership. Took it to the first dealership 5 times before another took care of it with one visit. Cheap plastic parts fall off very easily (seatbelt cover, reclining knob, etc.) Also had transmission problems in the first year, basically had to drive the car like a manual, or it would rev over 4000rpms before it changed gears. The radio had a strange problem where the volume would go down after I turned it up. The seats are already partially worn out after less than one year of use. And for some strange reason the gas mileage sucks!

I want to say how dumb people are when they complain about their cars knowing before hand what they're going to get. "This car suck it has no armrest, no cd player, it’s not fast enough" unless they bought their car at a vending machine, I would think they would know what they paid for. Anyways the cabrio I purchased was a lemon. The money I’ve spent on the car + repairs would have purchased a nice Benz.

Strength:

solid drive, great handling, gas milage

Weakness:

the dreaded peeling door handles

After reading all the comments on the Cabrio thus far I can only believe I got one of the good ones off the line. I've got over 30k miles and have never had any issues other than the dreaded peeling on the inside door handles. I get between 30 - 35 miles a gallon even with a heavy foot. The roof doesn't leak - the radio and 6 changer CD works great - and I love the car!
