Model Reviewed: VW Cabrio GL

Strength:

Extremely fun to drive, handles well, good gas mileage.

Weakness:

My left door handle is peeling away, and my emergency break is tearing. This is quite depressing considering it is my first new car and I've only had it for two months.

It is truly an awesome car. Looks great and handles well.

I previously had a 96'Geo Tracker, the Cabrio is MUCH NICER.

Model Reviewed: GLX /

Strength:

Quality of ride/handling; beautiful manual shifter; quality of interior (GLX model); appearance; feature-laden; convertible roof (obviously)

Weakness:

none encountered yet after 1 month, except I'm used to the outstanding fuel economy of my old Toyota Tercel

I really like the car. The quality of the ride is very good, and it handles very easily. I find it very quiet with the roof up. The stick shifter is much smoother than what I'm used to. Still infatuated with "top-down" driving. Can't beat the appearance and overall impression of quality this car imparts. My friends & family say I bought a chick car, but a) I'm not a chick and b) it's still a great car -- maybe that's why "chicks" buy them. Small engine gets a lot of mention in other reviews but I must say that with manual shifter it's quite peppy and plenty of passing power. Just realize this car was put on the planet for different reasons than, eg, Mazda Miata. Overall, car is a pleasure to own and very fun to drive.

My first new car. Drove a Toyota Tercel for 6 years, which had better fuel efficiency, but then this is a much nicer car. Girlfriend has a Pontiac Sunfire GT which has better acceleration but less preferable ride quality, handling, shifting

Strength:

None

Weakness:

Check engine light on 6 times in six months. Cruise control
replaced. Overall reliability is poor.

I have owned this car for 6 months and it has been in the shop 5 times
for check engine light. I am trading it in for another vehicle today
and the check engine light came on this morning. Worst car I have ever
owned!

Similar Products Used:

No comparison. Never had a vehicle that is so poorly engineered.
