Strength:

Outside size. Easy to meneuver in tight places. Good air conditioning system. It gets cold quickly and stays that way. Trunk size. For a small car, it has a pretty big trunk. It can fit up to four regular size golf bags. Fold down back seats. They open to the trunk, which is handy for big things. Fuel economy. I go around 250-300 miles on a tank, which isnt quite empty, and it costs about $15-$17 to fill up the tank again.

Weakness:

Acceleration. On flat ground, its fine, but one a hill, you really need to push the engine to get it up over 40 or 50. Turning off the AC helps this problem. Interior size. The front seats have a good amount of room, but the people in back may be somewhat cramped. Also, it's impossible to fit an adult bike inside, but I guess that would be hard to do in any small car.

This is the first car I have ever owned, and it's not bad. We bought it from a lady who took really good care of it, kept it clean and took it in regularly for tune ups. So far, the car has had no problems, and it doesnt look like it ever will. Though the car is small, it has 4 doors, which is more appealing to me than a Tercel with only 2. I would really recommend this car to any first time driver, or any driver! Great value for the money and doesnt look or drive badly.

Strength:

Reliable, Small, and looks nice

Weakness:

Small tires, Leaky engine, noisy, expensive replacment parts, not very economical,

I bought this tercel for my wife(had 100000 km), I wanted a problem-free car as my wife knows nothing about cars. It turned out to be a bit less that I expected. The engine leaks oil from almost every place it can, I replaced many parts like starter, water pump, wiper motor and wiper pivot, and according to many mechanincs, this a standard on all Tercels. The engine itself is very good and I have no complaints except that it is noisy and not very economical giving its small size. The 3-speed automatic transmission is not well adapted, a 4-speed would do a better job. The car is very reliable and it starts every morning even in the cold winters of montreal.

Model Reviewed: Toyota Tercel DX Liftback

Strength:

The car is easy on gas, averaging about 35 mpg , city and highway. Although just about every minor component has been replaced, there has been no major work on the car and the compression is still well within specification. The body still has very little rust although the rear hatch is prone to internal corosion and has been repaired. The Tercel gives excellent traction in winter and overall handling is quite acceptable. The car is also reasonably comfortable and long trips have been no problem.

Weakness:

The only real drawback is a lack of power but the car still is capable of over 150 kph or 90 mph. It is also noisy at highway speeds with the 3 speed automatic.

This automatic model was originally my mother's car and has been in the family since new. It is very practical, economical and still runs very well after some 200,000 km. or 124,000 miles. It is cheap to insure and repacement parts are no problem. I t has been regularly serviced and Mobil 1 10W30 seems to agree with it as oil consumption is very low.

Model Reviewed: / Toyota Corsa VIT-X D-Turbo

Strength:

Good engine, and quite fast for good fuel economy.

Weakness:

Inside is a bit noisy.

This sure is a great car, with a perfect 1.5ltr Turbo Diesel engine. I bought it with 89,000 miles on it, and the interior was new and uncustomized. 3 months after I bought it, I fitted Cobra bucket seats with 4-point harness inside. I also retrimmed these seats with Black/Yellow leather, along with the rear seats. Parts of the dashboard were painted, blue neon tubes inside, fitted door lights, sunvisor, and a few more accessories. If you see it now, you won't believe that it's a Tercel, and that it's 7 years old. I adore this car.

Strength:

Reliable Great in the winter Super gas mileage Easy to fix Love It!!!!

Weakness:

Not enough room for those we look up to! I wish it were a four door, other than that who could complain, you get what you get out of the 4-c, 4-speed wonder! Does feel a little tin cannish. Oh well!

Awesome Car! I'm a road trip fanatic and was a little sketchy about the car, but I have no complaints. Good as gold, right as rain. I even blew a tire going 75 on the freeway and the little trooper just slowed down a bit to let me know something wasn't right. Runs like a charm. My Dad loves how smooth the engine runs. I just got back from a trip with 5 people, and know I exceeded the weight limit of the little guy, in a snow storm and it was incredible, not a problem. I just love it. I even fit 4 people and cross country skis in the sage green off-roading machine! It's all in the attitude!

Strength:

Fuel economy, great engine, etc.

Weakness:

the a/c went bad, manual transmission

This 1992 Toyota Tercel with a manual transmission is the graetest thing that could happen to me. I bought it used with 117,000 mi on it, and drove it in southern US ; now I moved up north, and live in a hilly region. It just works great. Whatever you throw at it, be it rain, snow or drizzle, it carries you around well. Half an year ago, it started to fall in love with oil, but if you "feed" it right, it works great. Can you say fuel economy? The tercel is the best example of this. If I had an auto transmission, I would be the happiest man. The a/c went bad at about 130,000 mi. Now, the speedometer indicates 141,000 mi, but drives like the first day I bought it! Great car for great price!!!
