Toyota Echo
Strength:
good mileage, handles well both in town and on the highway, great trunk space
Weakness:
Potholes will make you sit up and take notice. And keep both hands on the wheel when big trucks and buses whizz by. A little skittish stopping in the rain, definitely not a time to tailgate. I really like my Echo. I drive a lot and have 83,000 miles with(knock on wood) few problems other than regular maintenance. It''s sturdier than it looks. Deer ran into the rear door and except for a couple of dings and a piece of molding there was no other problems and it handled well. It gets good mileage - and runs well over the long drive also. I have driven it to Texas and back and to the other end of Florida and back a couple of times. Sound system is fine, but since they outlawed freon air conditioners just aren''t what they used to be. Trunk space is excellent. I can get 300-400lbs of feed in it and don''t have to worry about it getting wet like I did with my p/u truck. I only have a couple of complaints. One is the extended service contract. DO NOT BUY IT. It''s overpriced and definitely not worth the money. The finance guy told me I would get free oil changes for 80,000 miles and then said he didn''t say that and would not honor it. Also, and this is when it was new, was cleaning interior and a little spray got on console, and even though I wiped it off immediately the plastic looks like the rear window of the chevy cavalier convertible I had that they promised wouldn''t do that. So now I can''t see my gauges. Being''s it was a new car and I had the extra coverage - would they replace it? NO. Once they hand you the keys buddy- It''s yours. They take responsibility for nothing. The auto service center employees are super nice, but they can do nothing about it. It''s the ones behind the desks with that Are you sure you bought it here? attitude. Thank goodness it''s otherwise been a very good car. Strength:
Good on gas, easy to park. Handles well on sharp turns.
Weakness:
the wind blows it around. not the greatest on slippery roads. Great car, not very powerfull, but lots of room on the inside, and great gas on gas. Good for road trips with friends, or family, good trunk space and back seat room. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Sound system better than Camry or 4-runner when 6 speakers. If you ram the 5-speed through the gears just right, the ECHO gives almost V-8 acceleration, comprable to a standard SUV. This car is meant to be cute and cheap, not to be the end-all of performance machines. Nonetheless, it drives comfortably for extended periods at upwards of 90mph, and gets there in a hurry. Great brakes, too.
Weakness:
Look elseware for power features or a sunroof. It kind of rattles and the wind is really noisy at highway speeds. Underseat drawer annoyingly falls open during even the slowest of stops. The happiest looking car on the road! The ECHO is a great car for the money. It is a fun, revved-up ride combined with sensible features and fantastic gas mileage. Strength:
Roomy, Fuel Mileage, Fun to drive.
Weakness:
Lack of power locks/windows. Dinky tires from the factory. Wish there was a tachometer. I LOVE THIS CAR. 26k no problems. Replaced the wheel/tire package with 16" wheels, and 205/45ZR16 tires. Handles much better. Similar Products Used: Ford Aspire. - "Aspired to be a car." |

Strength:
Roomy, peppy, reasonable handling characteristics (for non jet pilots), comfortable seats (other reviews notwithstanding), price, gas mileage, smooth drivetrain, quiet (for its class), easy to park, this list goes on and on.
Weakness:
Arm rests are useless for anyone over six feet, slightly awkward accelerator foot angle (can be fixed by adding thick floor mats), and iffy high wind/high speed handling, although I''ve driven worse. A great, well built, cheap (as in Inexpensive) little car. Perfect, no. Great for the price, yes. Fantastic city car, decent highway vehicle. It has perfectly adequate power for most driving, not sports car performance by any means, but quite respectable, and surprising, considering the fantastic gas mileage. I''ve gotten better than advertised fuel economy on highway trips, without any special consideration for driving habits. I think the unusual styling (it grows on you, really) and lack of a certain "pizzaz" make it less popular with many youthfull buyers than intended, particularily young men, but has sold to more middle and older aged folks than the company originally thought. It''s very attractive to those looking for a good quality/price ratio or for a second low price vehicle. I stepped down from a long line of trucks to this car, and have been very happy with it Similar Products Used: None, I''ve always driven trucks. |

Strength:
Fun to drive. I get a lot of attention. Pretty good acceleration off the lot. Good gas milege. Lot of head room.
Weakness:
Wheels too little, lots of body roll unless you get lowering springs, Wind blows the hell out of this car on the highway. Gas tank is too small. (like 10 or 11 gals.) I love my car. I am in the process of supin'' it up. I put a tsudo dtm exhaust on it, 20% tint, 17" tecnomagnesio sport rims on it, custom supercharger, intrax springs, touring wing on the back, and I plan on doing a whole lot more. It is a fun car to drive. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Fuel economy, Toyota dependability/support, Safety features, roominess inside for family of 4!
Weakness:
Overdrive on/off button is in bad place for me. I keep bumping it accidentally. No power windows/locks - missed greatly. I think larger tires would be a plus. Was on way to test a civic and stopped just to look at Echo. Test drove it and I was hooked. Great power and great MPG. Mine has a cruise control - works great. I didn''t know this option is uncommon. I drive fast and this car has all I need. Similar Products Used: Toyota tercel, Honda Accord, Toyota Camry |

4 door
Strength:
Gas mileage, price, solid suspension, power, runs very well and gets even better mileage with supreme gas. Very tight steering, almost too responsive. Tons of room for a small car. Big trunk. Seating position makes you feel like you are in a van.
Weakness:
The wind does effect the car too much with one passenger, but with two or more I don''t notice. Wheels are too small, they should have gone 15 inch and wider. This is the best car I''ve owned out of the 15 or so in my life. I like it the more I drive it. 10,000 miles with no trouble. I have the 5 speed and it''s a fast little guy. I would recommend it to anyone. I live in Metro Phoenix and the AC is very adequate after a few minutes of driving, but mine car is white. Never buy black in AZ. Love the cute interior and comfortable seats, nice AC vents, steering wheel. The center placed gauges are so much better than staring through the steering wheel. I love the body style, no ducking or squeezing in, headroom is great. Great car. Similar Products Used: Hyundai, Subaru, Volkswagen, Dodge, Nissan. |

Strength:
quality, mileage, roominess, nimble handling.
Weakness:
Odd looking. Could a a strength in some peoples eyes. Comfortable, roomy interior. Car sits up higher than others in this class so it is much easier to get into. Car is VERY quiet at speed, unusual for a car of this size. Engine delivers 38-40 mpg with 5 speed in around town driving, and is more powerfull than you would expect an engine that size to be. 3 in 1 stero with cd player is EXCELLENT, a worthy option. Handling is EXTREMELY quick and nimble with power rack and pinion. Quality after one year of ownership appears to live up to Toyota reputation. Overall: an excellent design for a small car, its the best selling small car in Europe and a recommended best buy by Comsumer Reports. Similar Products Used: Honda Civic. I drove both and the ECHO is far superior as a small car. IMHO the Civic is no longer a small car and really does not belong in this class anymore. Kia Rio. A true small car, it is nois |
