ECHO
Strength:
Great zippy engine and nice standard sound system. Great gas mileage.
Weakness:
Poor breaks, and expensive services. My same model year ford Windstar cost 5x less to service to service, but is 3x more expensive to buy and I'm sure weighs at least twice as much. I've had to have the break work done at least every 2nd service on this ECHO. How does it cost $100 per service for an ECHO and every model up from there? I thought this car was supposed to be economical. All the cash I’ve saved on gas I’ve had to keep to cover the service costs. Great Car if you have a lot of cash to service it, Whats wrong with the breaks? Similar Products Used: I have heard there are better less (ongoing) expensive cars out there like Mazda and Nissan. As soon as I drop this car off at the end of the lease you can bet I won’t be back in a Toyota dealership E |

Echo 4 door
Strength:
I love the reliablility and the interior. People are always surprised at how roomy it is inside, and there is plenty of trunk space, plus I just think that my little echo is cute!
Weakness:
It zips right along but sometimes in the wind I think I'll blow away -- especially crossing the bridges in my area -- but honestly, even that isn't so bad Words can't express how much I love this car - it's economical, dependable, and popular! Whenever I come out to the parking lot there will always be at least one person checking my Echo out, and asking questions. I am surprised there are not more of them on the road. Similar Products Used: I did a lot of research and test drove everything from the Focus to Kia Rio's |

Strength:
as noted above- no problems,no problems, and no problems!! this car works very well . the fit and finish is very good. in one year of service the interior is still like new. a great product! I am thinking of purchasing another for myself-I dont think my 83 chevette will make it to 300k!
Weakness:
i miss dash mounted interior light swich found on GM. door armrest too small and too hard! has an engine rattle at idle. dealer says is normal-more pronounced with AC on. wheelcovers make it hard to service tire air. I find too much distortion in windshield glass. radio works very well but high frequency sound a bit weak. from here on its just nit-picking so I will spare you that. this car has ben a joy to own for the past year. it just turned 10k today and looks like day one. no problems at all. I am impresed by power and economy. buffeting by crosswinds at hiway speeds is pronounced but far less of a problem than my 1970 vw bus was! also most of you never tried to land a cessna 150 in a 30 knot crosswind-thats scary! this car has very large trunk. i am 6ft2in tall and have plenty of room in back seat. my wife was put off by the looks at first but it grows on you. Echo
Strength:
an icon, exceptional gas milage, easy to parallel park, low price, a fun happy car
Weakness:
a little too light weight, acceleration on hills is tough Mine is a silver 2-door. I love this tiny car. The styling can easily hold it's own against big name cars like the Accord and Camry that are reluctant to try anything truly daring in the last 10-15 years. Strength:
2003 model restyling, price, gas mileage, safety, nifty control panel, great head room, and easy to get in and out of higher up seat. (I'm 6'2 230 lbs) And most of all...........It's a TOYOTA.
Weakness:
Kinda light weight when driving 75 down the highway on a windy day. I had a 2002 Echo but I totaled it. Wasn't even scratched in the wreck so I bought a 2003. I love the '03 styling better. I have the 4dr red w/the styling package, front end mask, and 15" wheels. All power locks and windows w/ the factory Chrome interior w/my custom red trim. Tinted the windows and added a red Toyota Echo decal to the front eyebrow. Small, sleek, tight steering, and surprising get-up for its size makes this car fun to drive. To go along with that, the storage and safety features, gas mileage, and the price gives me piece of mind when driving it around. Best overall car on the market, dependability and pocketbook wise. Similar Products Used: 2002 Echo 2dr. Didn't even have a year before someone plowed into me and totaled it. Walked away w/out a scratch or having to go w/the ambalance. That completly sold me on the car.(Should've seen my c |

Echo
Strength:
Everything that other owners have observed
Weakness:
Oilchanges are a pain in the butt, plan on getting dirty. Have to disassemble the air dam (or whatever you call that plasic under the radiator) to get at the filter. Have also noticed some clutch slippage when winding it out in 3rd gear, haven't checked with the dealer about that yet. The clutch seems fine, in general, though. No problems in 22k miles, but wasn't expecting any, seeing as it's a toyota Very enjoyable to drive, tight turning radius, great acceleration, unbelievable gas mileage, while I was babying it during break-in, I got high 40s. Winter mileage isn't great, though, was down in the 30s during the coldest weather... Similar Products Used: 94 Mazda Protege, which I still have |

Strength:
Paint, fit/finish of parts steering and braking smooth shifting
Weakness:
sluggish accleration-esp on hills--drove Hyundai Accenmt which seemed faster??!! My Jeep Wrangler was stolen and totalled..so I bought this cute fireengine red 2 door Echo with air c, am-fm delux radio, 5 speed manual and the 1.5L VVT motor. Car is fun to drive alebit a bit slow accelerating..gas mileage= 41-44 mpg-regular gas-mostly hi-way miles at 55-65 mph. Handling good..ride smooth but some bosdy lean on cornering..fit/finish are great..shfts easily-smoothly..braking excellent asd is steering. Car is "light' in srong crosswinds and there is a general feel of "plastic" (materials) on h inside (esp the dashboard)..but I guess that's how they keep the overall price down? |
