Strength:
Great acceleration, roomy interior, good visibility, able to achieve distance from the steering airbags but still be able to drive (for those short people out there ;), its beautiful... and really just a great quality car in general
Weakness:
Paint chips... any pebble that has ever made contact has chipped it. My beautiful diamond white finish has a lot of touch up paint on it. I have read everyone else's reviews here and can not for the life of me understand some of the comments. First: the rear seats do fold back. Second: the passenger front seat does slide forward... despite what people seem to think. Yes the paint it terrible... its beautiful dont get me wrong... but it chips like crazy and Toyota will not admit it is their fault. Overall, I love the car and would not dream of getting rid of it. It is my first car and it is my dream car come true... reliable, great ride... wonderful acceleration for a 4 cyl... so comfortable...even my tall friends dont complain about leg room which is unusual for a coupe. Anyway... its terrific. Similar Products Used: Although not owned I have also driven the Nissan Maxima and Toyota Avalon. I will take the Solara anyday thank you :) |

Strength:
Excellent 4 cyl engine, feels like driving a 6 with the fuel economy of a 4.
Weakness:
None in my opinion. I recently traded in my sporty Mustang for a new Solora. I love it. It was the best choice I could have ever made. Me and my mother went to the Toyota Dealership looking at 4 Runners and even 4 Door Camrys. I spotted a sleek white 2 door Solora just screaming for me to drive it, I did and I purchased it, the first car I had driven that day. The Solora combines sporty yet luxury features. I had owned 3 Mustangs previously, so I had never owned a "luxury car", and I will never own nothing but a luxury car from now on. |

Strength:
Sludgemaker engine, when it runs it makes sludge quietly...
Weakness:
You name it. It rides smooth when the suspension isn't sounding like the wheels are falling off! LEMON!!! Biggest piece of trash we have ever owned. We fell into th emedia hype about Toyota quality....It's been one problem after another most of which the dealer will cannot repair. It has left my wife on the side of the road 4 times in 4 years. NOT GOOD. Holds NO resale value. Similar Products Used: Honda Accord, Volkswagon Jetta, Chevrolet Corvette |

easy to drive, quite, design, unique ( noone has it) I like it very much. Do no regret getting one. better deal then es300
Weakness:
brake rotor warped. alignment never straight, no remote trunk release and auto climate on the +25000 car!?! mushy suspension, stock tire became slick tire at 18000. are you sure it has 200hp engine. Boring on highways.. Choices were ecplise, maxima and the solara. Mitsu was crappy. Maxima was nice but I just had one. so I got solara. very luxurious car. Too luxurious infact I sold it and got myself a VW GTI which is FUN! Similar Products Used: Maxima 97 SE GTI VR6 01 Civic 95 Dx |

Strong V6 Seductive Looks Fuel Efficient for its size Reliable
Weakness:
chick-mobile V6 strong, but doesnt feel like a Supra motor Lack of Sports car image This Car is just right! It combines everything from Luxury, to looks to sportiness. If only TRD would support it more, It would be the perfect car for me. I am performance oriented, therefore, I like addingmodifications to my car to make it !) faster2) more efficient3) better looking Unfortunately, The aftermarket industry does not support this coupe even HALF as much as the Celica or Supra. that is a real shame cause there is so much potential! |

Strength:
Beautiful, stlyish, attention getter, comfortable inside.
Weakness:
Slow as hell!!! I got 13 seconds on my 0 to 60 mph. i didn't even bother to test my 1/4 mile time... =( When i first seen the car, I was like OMG that looks so nice! I interior was nice and the seats are so comfortable. Well, i bought it. I bought the 4-cly. Only 135 Hp (CLAIMED) I took it home. Next day, i pushed the engine seeing how much power this baby has. IT WAS SLOWWWWWW!!!! Omg, i love this car, I baby this car, but the only flaw, it's so slow. I did my 0 to 60 mph time and guess what I got??? I GOT 13 seconds!!! That should be a 1/4 mile time! Man, i was pissed. And the suspension is so soft. The car is really made as luxury. I can't complain on that, but the 4-cly is just so slow. I love my baby, i wax, wash and wipe. I love her, but the only flaw: I lost many races. Similar Products Used: Honda Accord 4-cly. That's at least more powerful and has a bit more quality, but I like TOYOTA's better. TRD! |

Thought I''d add my 2 cents. My wife had the pleasure (seriously) of renting a Solara from Enterprise as a result of a rear end collision that almost totaled her Maxima (the trunk was totally caved in). The Solara has one of the best 4 cylinder engines -- smooth, powerful (for a 4), and efficient. One negative point, however, was the poor design of the front seats -- when trying to access the back seats, the front seats do not slide forward, as many coupes are doing now. Instead, the back simply folds forward, and it is extremely difficult to climb in/out of the back seats. Granted, you don''t buy a two door if you are planning to haul people around, but if you do want to use the back seat, it would be simple to make this change to the design of the car, as most other manufacturers are doing. We own a Toyota ourselves (4Runner) and can''t say enough of the reliability of Toyotas in general, and the service is outstanding as well. |

Solara SE 4 cyl
Strength:
Looks- both outside and in. (I think the red and white Solaras show off the lines of the car best. I would not consider green- detracts from THIS car.) Quality- inside and out. Driving experience. Comfortable, supportive seats. Elegant interior/ nice dash with touch of wood grain. Sight lines are good. Personally, I like the steering.
Weakness:
JBL speakers (200 watt so called premium sound) are lacking. Sound is not crisp and clear. I will probably replace on the V6 that I am buying. I love the Solara; however, having recently test driven the V6, I am now in the process of selling my 4 for a 6. The 4 cyl is a big sluggish in certain situations (example- you have slowed down due to traffic; upon accelerating, the engine is rather dull in its initial response but picks up nicely) At the same time I doubt there is a better 4 cyl auto out there. It''s great on the highway- very good acceleration and sooo smooth! The car is beautiful, I think. Stylish, sporty and unique. Toyota quality and finish. To cricize the car because it is not a sports car is silly since it is NOT a sports car and does not claim to be. If one expects sports car performance, buy a sports car but don''t complain about the Solara. It behaves as it is- a high quality, luxurious sports coupe. I like the feel, steering and performance of the car though some other reviewers have criticized these qualities. I guess it just depends on your expectations and previous experience. But I do agree with the stock tires and the body roll. I had Bridgestones which were terrible. Bald at 24,000; I replaced with Michelin XOnes which perform well on the Solara. Besides the obvious safety issue, the new tires also give me a better feel of the road. Similar Products Used: ''96 Camry |
