Toyota Avalon (2010 and older) Midsize | Compact

Toyota Avalon (2010 and older) Midsize | Compact

DESCRIPTION

Tthe 2010 Toyota Avalon may still be the best value in its class. Inside its spacious cabin, the Avalon can feel like a luxury car. Its upscale interior and quiet, well-cushioned ride wouldn't be out of place in the Lexus lineup. The Avalon's up-front purchase price is also higher than some similar cars, but large car prices have been rising quickly in recent years, and its price tag no longer stands out much. The Avalon offers a lot for the money -- and is more reliable and fuel-efficient than many competitors, allowing buyers to recoup some of that cost.

All trims are equipped with a standard 3.5-liter, V6, 268-horsepower engine that achieves 20-mpg in the city and 28-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.

Strength:

Fast and Smooth Engine Rock Solid Construction with quality materials used. Huge Trunk with a nice cubby hole on the floor for my cleaning products I take with me on the road. Front lights and fog lights that illuminate the road in an amazing fashion. JBL Stereo has the finest stock stereo sound of any car previously driven regardless of later modifications. Enough doo dads and compartments to satisfy even my wife, and that's not easy. Sweet alloy wheels on the XLS model, and I love the electrochromic mirrors inside and out on the driver side

Weakness:

Wish it had a "normal" parking brake, but since I rarely use it I won't complain much. Would have liked to see the steering wheel with radio controls on it like so many newer models coming out these days, as well as the steering wheel having a "telescopic" function as well

Was wrangling between the XLS loaded and a new Honda Accord EX V6 loaded. When I drove the XLS Avalon I was smitten with it's amazing controlled smooth ride and retention of road sense. I travel across 20 States for a living so I know about driving on the good, bad and ugly roads across the U.S. This car is the smoothest and quietest of those I've yet been in. I can always find a nice supportive seat position and beef up the lower back support (which I sorely need) with the power lumbar adjustment.

Strength:

Has great pickup, shifts effortlessly, very comfortable roomy interior. I think it's great on gas!

Weakness:

Steering wheel makes a noise when I turn the wheel at slow speeds. The stereo sometimes looses it's station for whatever reason I do not know.

So far so good, no mechanical issues, the car is very comfortable. I wish I could have found an XLS with the heated seats & wood trim but I still got the leather and dual powered seats. The car has great pick-up and it's very quiet.

Engine is quick and responsive. XLS has all the accessories you would want as Standard Equipment.

Weakness:

For me the steering is a little too sensitive athighway speeds.

Purchased 2003 Avalon XLS with just about every option available.Leather interior is smooth soft top grade leather.Exceptionally quiet running. You are frequently not quite sure if the engine is running its so quiet.Excellent riding comfort and getting 23/24 MPG on the road.(30M Miles per year) All the room inside you could ever want, front and back.

Model Reviewed: Avalon

Strength:

Quality build, quick big car, very roomy, Lexus like qualities, and resale value.

Weakness:

Need mods to have that Lexus look.

I want to start by saying that the avalon is the poor mans Lexus. I say this because of it's quality build. I have had this 8 year old car for almost a year now and besides oil changes I haven't had one problem. The car also has a good amount of power for passing. I have personaly gone over 125 and the car still seamed to be pulling. The car is not your ideal sporty looking car, but with a few mods you can change the look of the car. I am a tall man so I really needed the room that the avalon had to offer. I also have my friends ride with me and they enjoy the back seat room, along with the comfortable ride.

perhaps a bit more horses.a few more color options such as a bronze metallic or some sort of blue metallic.17" inch wheels.nav.system as an option at purchase mine didn't come which is the only feature i don't have.maybe they'll have an after market option for the system later.

purchased 2003 model xls.june 2002.this is my first japan car ever.no regrets.i love this vehicle.the silver spruce color is very appealing.this is a fine auto with lexus in mind.other members in family have the 2001,2002 xls respectfully as far i know they feel the same.

Strength:

It's a family size car. Holds not only people but their luggage also. It's quiet enough that you can talk in normal tones at freeway speeds. Probably the smoothest automatic I've ever encountered. It doesn't matter how short or tall you are you can find a suitable driving position. Very nice sound system. I also like the fact it comes with a full size spare.

Weakness:

I'm not too crazy about the " crome harmonica" front grill. Other than that it's a nice looking car on the outside. I would sugest a few more interior color options also. The engine is so quiet I sometimes have to look at the tachometer to see if it's running. Is that a weakness?

We needed a family car and looked at several different cars in several price ranges. We rejected all for one reason or another, mostly due to size. Too big, too small, too much $$$. Chose the Avalon XL because it best suited our needs.

Strength:

quiet, space, ride, seat, use good quality interior material, attractive interior styling. mileage for this size of car(~24mpg mix driving), exterior painting( tree stain is easily to wash off)

Weakness:

tight interior cause minor sqeak. exterior fit and finish, narrow rim and wire, too soft spring( can be more sporty )

This car indeed a very potent car as a family hauler. The back seat is more comfortable than the front seat. Very smooth and very quite engine. If you looks for a sport sedan, looks else where, you will not be happy with this car. If you like smooth quiet ride with a lot of space, this is your best bet. This is my first toyota and I bought it based on repeating hearing the phase toyota is the best in quality. My first 1500 miles, I am happy with it. However, it does have some minor quality problem. First, the window trim is not line up perfect compared to Honda and nissan. I thought it is just my car but I went back to the dealers to check out at least 10 avalons. The exterior trims is not always perfect. In fact, I only saw one avalon in the lot have all the rims lined properly. Second, the tight interior create some minor sqeaking sound. You can only hear it it all window is close, ac is off and stereo is off. Third, my car has steering wheel off center first day I bought it. Toyota is known for the best quality control and I hope that they will see this review and take a notes.
