Strength:

Power, grip, brakes, host of standard accessories, seats and comfort. Did I mention power and grip?

Weakness:

Seatcovers never look clean, tire road noise intrudes and air conditioner is weak.

What a great little car. Until I win the lottry I'll be parking my buns in this unit. It's the biggest bang for the buck on the market today bar none! From grocery getting to a run to the lake, it does it all with ease and in bad weather with safety. Over and over reviews point out there is no power below 3200 rpm. Not true. There is power just not alot of it. Enough to keep up with traffic without shifting down too much around town. It's that way for a reason. At 65 mph in fifth gear the tach is under three grand and there is little turbo boost. Even large throttle input doesn't produce big power. That's where the good milage comes from. On boost at low Rpm and you would kiss 28 mpg goodbye. Many reviews fault the stock tire for lack of grip. Some even think the brakes are inadequate. To those, please let me know when you are going for a "drive" so I can hide in the basement. Out of the box the car is on rails and stops with change. It stops shorter than a 2002 Corvette. Almost any car handles better with wider and lower aspect ratio tires but to me with the optional tires the ride gets a little too hard. Now the bad part. You grow horns driving this car. It's siren song is so sweet you will be on the rocks before you know it! Use caution. There are lots of wrecked ones on Ebay with only 2000 miles and lots more for sale by people with too many tickets.(they say they are selling because-going to school-new house-can't make payments-etc.) Not a car for a new teenage driver. Go drive one. Make sure it's the demo with over a 1000 miles so you can put your foot in it!! There I go, listening to that song again. I'm 62 years old. You would think I would be deaf by now. Not so driving my WRX.

Strength:

Turbo rush, amazing handling, radical styling.

Weakness:

Interior a bit cheap looking. Turbo lag under 3000rpm. Notchy shifting. Downshifting to 1st is somewhat hard even if u are going at 10km/hr.

First of all, some people complain the styling is a bit goofy looking. Especially the "bug-eyed" lights. But to me, I think the styling is refreshing & radical. Better than yr plain, boring, safe looking Hondas, Toyotas. Now comes the performance: I think it is insanely fast once the rpm goes beyond 3000. I hv had so many pathetic, souped up Civics try to race me. Interior feels a bit cheap compare to the Germans. Grip on this thing is incredible. I can do 60km on 30km suggested curves! Awesome deal.

FAST-best car for the money in it's class Handles well in all conditions (AWD std) 6 disc in dash CD player standard

Weakness:

Overactive ABS should come standard with boost gauge stock tires could be better

By far the best all around car I've ever driven. It's got a decent amount of room for driver and passengers, plenty of cargo room (for the wagon) and it's faster than the Mustang GT I had.

Very capable 12 months a year.

Weakness:

Interior still has some cheap econo-car bits. To get best use, buy some real snow tires for winter and upgrade the rubber for summer performance as well.

I was looking to replace a Canadian WINTER car and a Canadian SUMMER car (see below), but also had to have something that I could tow behind a motorhome. VOILA... the perfect solution. Virtually the same performance as the MR2 Turbo on dry pavement, absolutely 5000% better on wet. Obviously not as stiff (or truck-like) as 4Runner but still very capable. Most people will never use the full 4Runner capabilities anyway (locking centre and rear differentials in low range when stuck in snow pulling trees and being driven by the Crocodile Hunter in the middle of an African bog). Clearing out both previous cars, and will end up cash ahead. You can't argue with that situation.

Turbo lag at low RPM, Premium Fuel, Windsheild wiper speed to slow for highway driving during downpours.

It was raining today, I drove over 150 miles and I didn't stop smiling! This car is amazing. Turbo lag hurts at low RPM's. That's easy to correct with a little throttle. Other than that I can't think of another car I've driven that does so much for so little. Awd is flawless and makes for fun in the twisties (Pray for rain, I know I do)! A Lexus IS 300 challenged me on the way home, By third gear he was a blip in my rearview!!

Ths car has fast acceleration, awesome handling, its fun to drive, and its thrilling to race.

Weakness:

Shifting is a little weird until you get used to it, not the fastest car in the world but tons of horsepower, and 140 should be good enough for anyone. (except in nascar)

This car is quite simply the street racer's dream. 5k starts are amazing with little or no wheel spin. The all-wheel drive is a nice feature, especially when your goofing off, or just want to drive really fast. It out handles any car I've ever seen or driven at high speeds and especially on gravel or dirt roads. This car will out perform an eclipse or civic anyday, and it has soo much more style because not only can you street race it, you can take it to a rally race too! I would give this car an A+ any day. If you want major horsepower for under 25k (I got a few extras) THIS IS THE CAR FOR YOU!

Strength:

Awesome grip. Sweet exhaust note by just removing the exhaust. Four doors, adequate trunk, very roomy for a car of it's size. Easy to control in a slide.

Weakness:

Quirky ABS; brakes were inadequate. They fade quickly and need a bit more power. They're also poorly balanced between the front and rear with very poor feedback. School bus sized steering wheel. Vague clutch feel. Needs a front limited slip differential and a stronger gearbox for people who think they know how to shift, but wonder why their gears keep breaking.

Overall I thought my WRX was a great car. At first I was kind of disappointed in it, didn't seem to be the wonderful handling car I thought it was supposed to be. Felt mushy and sluggish, turn in was also very poor. But then I got a good set of performance rubber and hit the track. Wow, if you've got more than one lane to work with this car is amazing. The sluggish turn in is easily fixed by trail braking into turns and using the throttle to guide yourself through. I've never driven a car so easy to control while sideways. The AWD also gives the car massive amounts of grip for corner exit, just be careful not to get too happy with the throttle and the steering or you'll burn up your front tires in a hurry. The car took some getting used to, since it's not a well balanced machine like I'm used to driving. But overall, I'd have to say I must have another one. ...oh, and crash safety in this car is top notch. I know first hand.

Weakness:

4 doors! but i'll look past it no optional sunroof

First of all i've been a straight up honda nut forever, and the only reason i ever drove the wrx was because i was bored and felt like test driving somthing... and i thought it'd be peppy a lil bit, but when we left the dealership lot i punched it as normal, and i couldn't hold composure... my look of surprize was clearly evident to my friend in the back seat... the dealer was very cool, he kept goin "c'mon take it up to 7" hahaha, so me being the nice guy that i am i took it up to 7. we got going 120 faster than i woulda ever immagined in a subaru, then we came to a tight S shaped corner and i had it in 1st just redlining and ridin the clutch in and out, and it was litterally impossible to get the tires to spin... so i'm gonna ditch my hondas for awhile and get one of these, for sure....

Handling - feel like it can do anything in all conditions which we get here. still havent had to fit snow tires with all the snow we get here. really good overtaking power, probably the best mid-range torque/3rd gear ive used. momo steering wheel is so nice

Weakness:

turbo lag, it really requires you rev the thing to 3500 (yeh like boy racer) at the lights to get the turbo kick in, and dont even think about forgetting to use 1st (as we all do occasionally). notchy 5 speed shifter takes a lot of getting used to - subaru this car would go from very good to amazing if you fitted two smaller twin turbos to overcome the turbo lag and improve the syncros/upgrade to 6 speed box. Interior could be better quality but thats just nit picking - functional

wow, this truely is a street legal rally car, nothing i have driven handles as well. a real good mixture of sports car & practical family car

Weakness:

-Lack of rack -Premium fuel -Overall lighting control -A/C lag

I read all the reviews and for the most part agree with most things I've read. The car handles like its on a track. Its very solidly built, no rattles, even on the rough roads. The car is very stiff torsionally which adds to the pleasure of driving it. Its not the quickest thing at the start, but it will push you back in your seat in short order. The shifting is notchy and took some getting used to, but like the overall feel. I've read some things about the 'rough' idle, I would call it more guttural, nice and powerful sounding. The seats are great, as is the driving position. Everything seems to fit well and be perfectly placed for my size (~6 ft). The stereo is good (not great), I have the upgraded system. Wish I could have gotten the wagon instead of the sedan for the flexibility. Some touchs in the interior area little cheesy, but not bad. Need to understand this car is about driving. I'm glad Subaru spent the money where they did. Howver, I'm very dissappointed with Subaru (who market themselves to outdoor types)for not having the option for a rack for the sedan. Can't load bikes and such on the roof with a Subaru endorsed rack system. It seems this is a car for the younger set who will want that option. Don't like using the premium fuel, but will live with that. Should have the option to use the running lights and the fog lights independent of the other lights but can't, don't like that. The A/C does sap the power noticably, so I tend to ride without the A/C as much as possible. Not many other complaints.
