Impreza WRX
Strength:
Engine is very strong, handling is excellent, price is reasonable, gas mileage is very good when driving normal, seats can't be beat.
Weakness:
No sunroof but would hurt strength and studiness of body so I understand, I think this is a wonderful car, I took it to the Western mountains of North Carolina for a week. It is a dream to handle at high speeds through tight turns. I thought I was on a VERY fast train on tracks!!! It is also extremely comfortable on long drives. The acceleration is as exciting as it gets!!!! For the price it does it all. I had fun seeing all the heads turn to find out what kind of car it was. It can beat most cars at a light to 60-70 mph. Seats are very supportive, stereo with 6 disk CD changer is excellent (for me). The self adjusting rear view mirror and Compass was a great option. Carbon fiber upgrades to the interior make it look less cheap. I would recommend to anyone who likes speed and handling. Similar Products Used: Audi Quattro CS5000 can't compare, |

Strength:
That turbo punch above 4 grand.....Woohoo
Weakness:
I wish that I could get a Brembo brake upgrade from the dealer. Crossed drilled rotors on this car would look and feel awesome. :-) What can I say that hasn't already been said!!! For the money this is the best bang for your buck on four wheels. A year ago I couldn't bring myself to pay 24 large for the small Celica GTS. The Celica is a great car but just too small and VERY boy racer. The WRX is boy racer too but has some utility if you get the hatchback. The hatchback is the first real 'Q' ship of the new millenium. People just don't expect such acceleration from a hatch. I test drove a BMW 3 series but its too expensive (you are paying for the emblem) and less performance than the WRX. The Subaru build quality is top notch on par with Honda. The stiff chassis on the WRX is comparable to the BMW 3 series and the handling and traction is awesome. The only way to describe the traction is to imagine a cat clawing with all fours into the ground to accelerate. The WRX IS that Good!!! Similar Products Used: None |

Impreza Sportswagon
Strength:
Power, roominess for cargo(wagon), handling, seat, solid feel.
Weakness:
No power outlet in the cargo area like in the outback. Just picked it up today and it's better than I thought. I've read from some posters that the A/C wasn't good but thank goodness the A/C in mine is excellent. Hope it stays that way because it's really hot here in Texas right now. I've been a little gentle so far being it new and all but I can tell you right now that this is one powerful car. The seat is probably one of the best feature I've noticed so far. Strength:
The acceleration and handeling
Weakness:
For the price, I think we can all live with them. I think the car is great. Awesome handeling and moves pretty damn good. 0-60 in 5.6 and the 1/4 in 14.2. I also think its pretty sad that this car has a lower rating than the 2.5 rs. It does 60 in 8.5 for christ sake, no turbo, etc...... Similar Products Used: 900se- it had more turbo lag than the WRX |

Subaru WRX Wagon
Strength:
227 HP, Good handling & road feel, comfortable interior
Weakness:
Poor low-end torque, tinny construction Every day I drive it, I like this car more and more. It's comfortable, it handles well, and when the turbo kicks in, it goes like hell. I've got the wagon and I like being able to put a bike in the car with the back seats down. The only real complaint is the lack of low-end torque - it's a bit of a dog from a standing stop. If you've got a stick, you can compensate by feathering the clutch, but I also have problems trying to parallel park on some of these crazy, San Francisco hills. Trying to inch this thing in reverse up a hill with a 30 degree slope without frying the clutch is a challenge. That notwithstanding, this car has the best price-to-pleasure ratio I've come across in awhile. Can't wait for winter so I can try it out in Tahoe. Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon
Strength:
Extremely good handling in corners, absolutely hugs the road. Strong Turbo engine. All wheel drive. Japanese reliability. Tons of performance for thousands less than competitors. All the best features of previous Imprezas but now with real engine performance. Anti-Lock Brakes. Four wheel disk brakes. this is a minor detail, but I love the mirror with the auto dimmer and compass! My local Subaru Dealer is excellent.
Weakness:
Leather seats, an aftermarket stereo system, and upgraded interior materials would probably add 5k to the price and make this the perfect driving machine. This is my fourth Impreza. The Impreza is an outstanding automobile. It is wonderful in the snow and the rain; fun to drive; economical to repair; easy handling, a dream to park, and economical to own and insure. When I bought my first one, I thought..."if only it had a performance oriented engine"... Subaru read my mind when they released the WRX. This car is a Porsche in Suburban clothing! Similar Products Used: Volkswagon Passat with 4 motion and Audi 2.8 Quattro AWD: The Subaru wins in terms of handling and road response. The Subaru communicates every nuance of the road as I feel it should. In terms of status and luxury; the Subaru does not intended to compete with the interior of an Euro-luxury-performance sedan and it shows in the cheaper interior materials. I also owned a Nissan Maxima, which was a wonderful car (on a dry day, on the turnpike, or on a long road trip on major highways). In order to compete with the Subaru WRX, you would need an auto with standard features of: All Wheel Drive, 4 wheel disk brakes, ABS, 6 CD changer, Turbo, 227 HP, Japanese reliability, 4 wheel independent McPherson strut suspension, alloy wheels, limited off road capability, and a huge after market offering a long list of extra performance featureas at a reasonable price. Then it would have to sell for an out-the-door- price of $25,000. To my knowledge, one can't buy a car like that unless it has Subaru on the nameplate. |

Strength:
Picked up car and drove home in a severe thunderstorm that lasted one hour. The WRX was composed, giving me great confidence in that adverse weather. It was smooth and quiet. The shifter was precise.
Weakness:
None have revealed themselves at this time. I do dispute the criticism of the radio/cassette/cd player. I purchased the upgraded package and it sounds just fine to me. Plenty of clear sound and lots of volume. Great handling, good power, manageable size, good brakes, solid feel. Similar Products Used: There is no other product to compare to this one at this time. |
