Strength:

This car is a superb sports sedan for the money. It is quick, handles well and has a great brake feel.

Weakness:

Small gas tank- They have made the 2001 gas tank bigger. (Saturn listens to there customers)

Saturn has a great product that if more Camry and Accord buyers would drive before buying others the Saturn would be a best seller. I have owned new Cadillacs and an Acura Tl and they had more frills between dealer service and value they cant compete. Customer Service is Exceptional!

Strength:

I love how well it handles. It feels powerful and hugs the road, even in bad weather. The sound system is great, I think I'm suffering hearing loss because I always turn it way up.

Weakness:

Nothing.

I have now had this car for several months and decided to update my review. I truly am so happy w/my decision to get another Saturn (this is my second). I get tired of most cars quickly, but I expect this to be my longest lasting. The only problem has been minor, the doors were not completely aligned, and I had some wind noise. The dealership fixed it right away, no charge. I still feel like this car should have cost twice as much. The leather interior and V6 were worth the extra price. Now that it's cold, those seat heaters are great.

Strength:

Strong and fast revving V6. Lots of power in every driving situation. Great handling and braking, very controlled and smooth. Huge trunk. great stereo with factory upgrade "advanced audio" system. very comfortable seats. Good price for the optional side impact airbags and anti-lock brakes/traction control. Sleek style "bright silver" paint is excellent.

Weakness:

Drivers window rattle at 4,000 miles (door skin was misaligned from factory) also the grab handle plastic is lose in the same door. Overall build quality needs improving. Tight room in driver's footwell. Gas mileage is low but proably do to leadfoot driving!

A great midsize family car, with "fun" handling and acceleration. You can build your own car from the factory the way you wan't color and all. The no haggle price is the same if you pick one off the lot or order it custom made. Good value overall. Build quality isn't up to par with some imports but performance is above average. Dealer service is way above import dealers we have dealt with in the past. Great car for a family that needs midsize room with a large trunk, and still have some performance driving satisfaction and affordable saftey features available (ABS/traction control & side airbags for front and back seats) on all model levels.

Strength:

24 mpg in town. 31 mpg freeway at 75-85 miles per hour average. Good seats. Lots of room for the money. Better milage than many smaller less comfortable and more expensive cars.

Weakness:

Gas and break/clutch peddle too close. Noisy on rough road surfaces. Very quiet on smooth.

This is a great car! The other raters are wrong about the 4 cylinder engine. However, I have a 5 speed and the power is great. Just too many non-drivers out there that can't drive a stick so they need a V6. I went simple with the LS model, no elec windows and other crap to go wrong. Don't try and make a low cost car expensive with all those extras. If you want a Volvo or BMW-buy one. If you want a good driveing car for low cost with good milage, buy the LS standard!

Well built, plenty of power and fun to drive. Very well satisfied.

Weakness:

Wish the gas tank was bigger and the ignition switch was easier to get to.

This vehicel to me has been one fine automible. It is sporty, well desogned and comfortable. I opted for the V6 whicj has plenty of power. However I did not get the leather seating. It does however have an electric seat. I find the car has plenty of room and its comfortable. The sound system if excellant as it came from the factory with no add ons. Gas mileage is fully accetable I am getting 19 t0 21 around the city area and 26 on the highway when I stay within the speed limit but this car sometimes makes that diffucult to do. Fit and finish are excellant and dealer service so far has been tops. I have the extended service warenty and have been in for 3,000 and 6,000 mile service. Hey and the quartely BBQ's are fine, I go as I figure I paid fo them. My experience with the sales and service folks have been top notch.

Strength:

Seats are very comfortable. Lights are very bright. Rides and corners well. Instrument panel is well designed. Very reliable - I have driven 30,000 Miles and have spent a total of $150 on repairs and maintenace. Stereo is pretty nice for OEM. Great value for $20K (Leather, power everything, sunroof, etc). De-Fog side view mirrors are great! A/C and heat work great. Trunk is huge.

Weakness:

The freaking power seats. You cant JUST go straight up. Instead you go at a 45 degree angle up&forward. I am 6'2", but I would like to push the seat UP so that I sit high and can see the road well, with these seats I have to stay low cause otherwise my face hits the steering weel - VERY annoying. I have 5-speed manual and the pedals are just too close together, if I wear boots or big shoes that not give me the best feel for where my foot is I can hit both pedals - or the wrong pedal by mistake. Ran over a shoppig cart due to this. At night, the cruise light is in your face. My engine 2.2 4-cylinder is very underpowered. If you have any hopes of acceleration, get the V6 for sure. V6 ONLY comes in automatic. For some reason I feel prone to rocks hitting my windshield. Already replaced it twice. I dunno if its a wind drag thing but it seems that rocks accelerate as they approach my windshield... sounds nuts, maybe the window is too vertical... I dunno. The Firestone tires OEM were a joke. They wore in like 20,000 miles. I hate them. Replaced with Michelin RainForce MX4 and its like a whole different car.

Look, if you want a luxury sports car like BMW (300 series or even 500), a Audi A4 or a similar car, this Saturn is NOT going to be a cheap replacement. Better save your money when you can spend it. This is a great intro car for someone who will eventually buy a performance luxury car. Its relatively inexpensive for what you get, but is not in the same league as Audi or BMW. This car competes more with Jetta, Camary, etc.

Great car for professionals starting out.

Strength:

The pick up from the light, I drive alot in stop and go traffic and occasionally like to break from the pack. PLUS, I whipped my neighbors Accord bad! I'm 6'3" and the curved design of the back seat allows me to sit reasonably comfortable in the back as well. No Hassles at the dealer, I did'nt feel like I was being stalked as I chose which car my wife and I would like to look at. The cruise control functionally works flawlessly. Booming Stereo

Weakness:

Those pedals are TOO close together! Heated seats feels good on my back but, they are too hot on my legs. Arm rest in the back seat is too low to really rest your arm on it comfortably but, it's my car soo OHH WELL! The steering wheel cruise control light blinds you at night (Can't be dimmed).

I test drove the Grand Prix GT, Toyota Avalon, and Oldmobile Intrigue. This car handles, brakes, and accelerates with all them for significantly less! If you buy one get some sort of sound deadening undercoating, it made a big difference. The premium sound is great, my wife has Bose in her car and this has it beat hands down, two sets of tweeter with the amplified sub speaker really let you feel the music!

runs smooth and powerful V6 engine. That's it

Weakness:

Service Department, stereo system, A/C, Ignition problem, window trims, fuses burning weekly, etc, etc, etc

Problems, problems, and more problems I'd been encountering with this new vehicle. I should have known I got a lemon the first day I took it out of the dealer with not interior light working. I brought it back, and they kept it for 2 weeks to tell me it was a fuse. Well since then all fuses burn constantly. Power windows, sun roof, cigarrete lighter, trunk release. All they told me, i was pulling all windows at once, so what. Also that I was using my cell phone too much and that's why it kept burning the cigarrete lighter fuse, well I don't even have a cell phone. After bringing the car 3 times for fuse problems they told me the car seemed to have this problem and gave 6 fuse to change myself. For God sake I driving a 2000 model, imagine 2 years from now. On my first long trip the A/C frozed and stopped blowing. Well, the mechanic said there was nothing wrong 3 times; the fourth time I took a digital picture of the unit frozen and brought it back to prove them I was right. They replace the A/C unit. I complaint of the stereo system 3 times and they kept saying there was nothing wrong with it. Well I took it to Circuit City to replace the whole system and found 2 speakers damaged. Well on my last trip this weekend, my friend closed the door and kept the handle on his hand. Tell me if I got a lemon or not? The service the department at Dadeland north very unprofessional. Last week the car broke again, and they replace the ignition and the security system. This car had more problems, but just wrinting about it makes me mad. I wrote a letter yesterday to claim it a lemon. I'm afraid to own another one.

4 cylinder engine power, 5 speed transmission, looks, stereo, handling, price, financing ($750 discount + 2.9% 4 year), 30 day return option.

Weakness:

Fit and finish build quality, noisy exhaust, weak air conditioner, firestone tires, saturn service, gas mileage.

$14260 It depends, build quality sucks. Multiple body panels mis-aligned, interior bits not fitted correctly, dome light keeps falling. Service dept keeps trying to fix but has only been partly successful. Passenger door still crooked, dome light still falls. Gas mileage has been all over the place. As low as 19mpg and as high as 35 mpg. average has been around 27mpg. I was expecting average of 30 by now (4000 miles). Exhaust is substancialy louder than the automatic version with same engine.
If the new 2001 version is built better, then it might be a good car. As is, I will keep going back to service till they get it right. I probably should have exercized the 30 day return option.

Great look in side and out. Low price!

Weakness:

I don't like the weak 4 cylinder engine. The engine is noisy when you start up the car and when you drive off. The 4 cylinder needs more horespower.

For the low price we pay for our LS1 we got a lot. We had to order ours so we could put what we wanted in the car. We pay only 22,000 for a fully loaded Saturn. I would recommend this car to anyone but don't get the 4 cylinder engine. The engine is weak and it seems it haves a hard time getting up a hill. We are thinking about getting the V-6.
