Strength:

It moves when it's not in the shop

Weakness:

Noisy engine, cheap interiar, uncomfortable seating, lousy instrument panel , ugly as sin, what handling?

I can't believe people are actually buying this piece of crap... I drove it as a rental and was disgusted by it. GM, are you listening? This is probably the worst car you can buy with your money... look at what other manufactures are offering these days and look at this junk. Just about every alternative is better in this category. Do your self a favour and spend your money on something else.

Strength:

I really like the sporty look, quick pick up and the covertible top. The gas mileage is 26 miles/gallon. I really like this car, but I must admitt it needs some improvements.

Weakness:

The hydraulics for the trunk are worn out. The Driver's side speaker had to be replaced. Music doesn't have that surround sound feeling. The convertible top, when I bought this car used the seal around the windshield had 3 cracks in it. I went to a car lot where I seen a convertible just like mine and the same seal had the same 3 cracks. The back seat has no space for passengers. The sun visor doesn't go low enough for a 5'4" driver. I agree with earlier complaints that the cup holders are all wrong. The middle storage compartment between the seats, the latch seems to wear out the plastic. The arm rest inside the door does come loose and does need retightened. The ride is rough, but you'll have that with a sporty car and Indiana roads.(ha, ha) The back window is definately too small. Believe me! I've already backed into a lawn trailer that was attached to a truck. One last complaint is that I can't take it into the automatic car wash or I'll get soaked! So. It needs some engineering improvements. I must admitt that some of the complaints that I have read on this web-site do seem a little harsh. I would like to see the people who wrote them try to design a perfect car. All I know is that my complaints are ligit, but I do love this car I have 63,000 miles on it and I haven't had any engine problems. (knock on wood) Most of those engine problems that people seem to keep complaining about are probably from trying to race other cars. That causes a huge amount of damage right there.

Definately has good points and bad.

I've only owned 1 other car before this and it was a 95 lumina. So, I must say I miss my lumina, it wasn't as sporty looking as the sunfire, but it would do 114 mph. definately a plus.

Strength:

Looks good. Good CD player. Good on Gas.

Weakness:

Carpets are worn out losing tuft. Rattles. Oil dipstick came loose from cap and fell into engine. Trunk hood spills water into trunk when you open it. Drink holder works best for holding loose change. Lost ability to dim lights. Still assessing this problem.

I do not like this product. When the carpeting started wearing after just 2 years, I knew the interior sucked.

Affordable, I literally stole this thing though, it is a 98 standard, 91000kms, air conditioning! Good car, I did only buy it because of the incredible deal, I personally like toyota.

Weakness:

I cant complain too much, except for the STUPID cupholder! Yes, singular, cupholder! In a stupid spot too.

It works ok, only problems that are constantly evident are the cupholder, highway noise, and rear window visibility. But hey, it is a 2 dr sporty coupe so dont expect too much from the noise and visibility department! Gas mileage is ok, I have driven a GT, and it isnt worth it. It is several thousand more, you can definately tell it is faster, but not $3000 faster!
Thanks for reading! and remember, unless you do find an incredible deal, I would recommend a toyota.

Strength:

Looks, gas milage is great, smooth ride.

Weakness:

Passengers getting in and out of the back seat. It's very difficult to do.

I purchased a 2001 Sunfire Se 2 door about 5 months ago and I love this car! I don't see why some of you people hate this car so much. This car rides so smooth and is great on gas and is one of the best looking car they make right now! But if you do purchase one I recommend getting power everything and totally loaded. Mine has all available options and my friends only has some, it's definitly nicer with them all. And the pick up in this car is not bad at all for only being a four cylinder. I had a 94 Grand Am that was a six and this car is actually not that much different.

Some of you people say that these cars are junk and I totally disagree! You talk about all the repairs that you have to do to your cars but I'm sure there is a reason! You can't drive a Sunfire like it's a Firebird! You people are most likly running your poor cars into the ground! You can't buy a $18,000 car and expect it to run and drive like a Mercedes! My friend has a 1996 Sunfire and has had no major problems with it at all. but she also babys it.

I would highly recommend this car to any one. And I myself would definitly buy another one!

No problems that weren't my fault.

Weakness:

Agree on the cup holder. Only other problems were brakes which was from my hard driving and an alternator from the stereo system. Like i said no problems that weren't my fault

Great car. Has a good solid engine to build on and a lot of nice accessorys from the factory. Would reccommend one to anyone. Bought car to stop driving my 1969 Camaro SS. Big power difference but that what expected going from 400HP to 130HP. Looking forward to making some mods to the engine, body, suspension and exhaust.

Strength:

Nice sport looks only if you have black color car, easy to drive, take low gas in the city, good acceleration if you have stick, low price, nice spoiler on the back, black color best fits this car but it's so hard to keep it clear even hole day!

Weakness:

Bad on hightway so weak to pass somebodys car, bad steareo system if even I have cd player in it and speakers shold be changed I will put pioner speakers soon on it, cheap interior, uncofortable seats, bad cd player sometimes don't wonna read cdrw cd's

I like this car the way it looks, everybody like it, it looks sporty and very nice, but IT'S NOT A SPORT CAR, this car good on acceleration but not on a highways, also if you want to buy this car I will recomend you do buy it if it has low miles on it cause I had 90000 milies and it's sound not so good, and but also on a stick, caouse you gonna fill it like you drive sport car not Pontiac Sunfire SE with automatic transsmision, really I like my car but I just don't really like interior and seat it's so uncomfortable and just sucks to sit long time on it it's gets tired and boring, anyway I will recomend you to buy it, but only I you want to buy a good car with sport looks and little bit sprot driving but only with STICK it's really fun to drive it!

Cool styling. The GT rims. The GT dual exhaust. The head lamps. THE
P-O-N-T-I-A-C that lights up on the back of the car. The big sunroof. The keyless entry system. The CD player. The Stereo controls on the steering wheel.

Weakness:

When you and your friends go out everyone wants you to drive all the time.

This car is great! I get nothing but compliments on how cool and sporty it looks. When my friends and I go out everyone wants me to drive. Even my friend that just bought a 01 Grand Am. She bought it stripped so it doesn't compare to my Sunfire. Now she wishes she got a sunfire after seeing my car.

Strength:

Great looking and performing car for the money. Have not put any money in that wasn't basic maintenance. Very roomy for it's size. Fits 4 passangers very comfortably. Good sized trunk and huge glove box.

Weakness:

Has some fit and finish problems. Something rattles in the dash. The cup holder is horrible especially with the stick. The interior is not plush but it holds up well (has not faded or worn after 5 years).

Great car! GT option is worth the money. The package gives you the extra horsepower, better rims and tires, and the spoiler. Has pleanty of power to get off the line and pass on the thruway. This car should be driven with a stick!
Black looks best, if you can keep it clean, with the trim around the tail lights. My car is far from loaded but I splurged for the power moonroof and radio controls in the steering wheel.

At this point none because the sporty looks doen't make up for all the problems I have had.

Weakness:

Had been in t he garage more times then I can list.

I must have gotten the Lemon. I have had nothing but TROUBLE. It has been in the garage more then our 94 S10 has been. Fuel pump, emission systems, check engine light, and the power window controls have been replaaced 3 times. It is in the garage right now because it wanted start and I was a hour from home. Cannot depend on it anymore. My worse nightmare. Trying to trade but low trade in value.
