Strength:

-Great sound system (stock)
-Smooth and comfortable ride
-Get acceleration
-Reliable
-Great look in the inside

Weakness:

-alternator not producing enough power (have a sound system installed and capacitor still isnt fixing the problem)
-sqeaky driver side window

My 92 Grand Prix sounded a bit loud when i brought it. The crank shaft snaped in 2 pieces a month after so i did an engine re-build. The car runs fine .. havent had any other problems since the rebuild. It was worth the money i brought it for even after $1400 for the rebuild of the engine.

Strength:

Very fast ride, quick acceleration, sporty look, very comfortable, outstanding A/C

Weakness:

Repairs are far too frequent and too expensive. This might have been a good car brand new, but with that many miles on the engine, it's gonna leave you with nothing but a busted wallet.

I wouldn't recommend this car to my worst enemy! I had the Sport Package, 3.0L 24-valve V6, and that engine gave me nothing but problems. The engine is so large, and the cavity so small, that ANY repair was astronomical ($400 alternator). I bought the car with 100K+ miles, and have regretted it ever since. It was in the shop literally every 4 months - clutch, O-rings, master gasket, etc. An absolute blood-sucker, wouldn't spit on one if it was on fire.

Similar Products Used:

I looked at a 2000 Eclipse, which had almost the same size engine, so it can stand up to any fast car, especially with a few mods. As far as durability, I wouldn't choose a Pontiac over an Edsel.

Strength:

Good ride
Awesome silver paint
Cool interior features

Weakness:

Brakes
Right headlight fills with moisture
Cup holders in bad spot, won't hold bottles very well

Only had it about 2 weeks with 51,000 miles but I absolutely love it! It is very fast and looks awesome with the silver metallic paint, tinted windows and polished aluminum wheels. The dual climate control is great too because my girlfriend always feels the opposite of the outside air temp.If its -50 degrees out shes burning up and needs to air on. Now she can do whatever the hell she wants with the controls. The only complaints i have is that the cup holders are in a bad spot, the headlights fill with water and the brakes are too mushy. I also hate that the factory CD changer is missing. It has the original dealer sticker stating that it had one but I guess the first owner decided to keep it. Now i have to buy a cd player

1994 Grand Prix SE My previous car. It was a good car but the 98 GTP puts it to shame. The brakes on it sucked and the steering wheel caught fire. (recall fixed that and damage)Bought the 94 with 94,000 miles and sold it with 163,000. Only money spent on it was brake pads twice, water pump and tires.

Strength:

It's a Pontiac! styling of the new Grand Prixs is wonderful, power from the 3.8L is great and the 3.8L SuperCharged is even better. For the money, it is hard to beat the performance and comfort of the Grand Prix.

Oh yeah, it's also not a Ford. That's a real strength!

Weakness:

taillight on the 1994...didn't get much help from the 1-800-PMCARES people. Even when contacted by the dealership, they didn't respond for weeks.

This is my 4th Grand Prix, and I love them. My 2000 GTP Coupe beats the others hands-down. Only reason for buying the 2000 was because someone totalled my 1994 coupe, and I was forced to buy a new one. The other Grand Prixs I have owned were a 1989, and before that I had a 1986 (rear-wheel drive, V8). After reading these other reveiws, I don't know what people do to their cars! I did not experience these problems, and kept up with basic vehicle maintenance. Most annoying problem was the moisture in the taillight of the 1994, which was fixed after 19 replacment taillights were installed by our dealership at no cost to us. Another dealership drilled out the vent holes, and it was fixed in a matter of minutes.

While not in the same class as several of these vehicles, the Grand Prix offers very good performance and comfort for the $$.

Strength:

Fuel milage has been good for a V6, averages 20 in town and 29 on the highway. Acceleration is adequate. Sporty looks. Roomy for a coupe, the seating is comfortable for a medium sized person in both the front and the rear. One of few vehicles that can start when the temperature is -20 F.

Weakness:

An occational rattle due to plastic interior parts.

It has been a reliable car. I bought it 4 years ago with 225,000 miles on it and now it has 275,000 miles. Not scared to take it on long trips, has traveled many states in the US. Only replaced parts have been typical equipment, such as shocks, ignition coils, spark plugs, etc. The motor is still original (V6 2.8L) and the transmition was replaced at 175,000 miles (before I bought it). Doesn't burn any oil, I usually go 4000 to 5000 miles on a change. It is very comfortable cruising down the highway, overdrive gearing allows it to run at low RPM's at 75 MPH. Overall I cannot complain, I haven't treated it well, I accelerate hard often and it is parked outside during snowy and cold ND winters.

This is a good first car or college car for anyone on a budget. Best suggestion is, only buy a vehicle with high miles if you know a little about the vehicle's maintenance history and are capable of performing your own maintenance and completing minor repairs (or know someone that can), otherwise you could be nickeled and dimed to death.

4 cylinder cars - the V6 Grand Prix has more power and is quieter, milage is the same or better on the highway, a little less in town.

Strength:

Great speed- this car can go!!!! Radio was good (factory), front & back window were easy to see out of, very comfy inside, roomy, body style looks great (even my car after 11 years).

Weakness:

Not great on gas but not horrible, RECALLS, problems that go wrong after you have the car awhile (NOTE: I didn't have ANY problems untill about 7 years into owning the car, which is a good sign because most people don't keep a car that long).

This is a great car if you can get past all the problems that go wrong. Within the 11 years that I had the car (purchased new at the end of 1989) the brakes were constantly being replaced (2 to 3x a year) which I come to find out that the car is in a law suit (contact Pontiac direct or your governors office). I had the spark plugs replaced more than 2x, the air conditioner broke about 5 years ago & nobody could fix it without spending hundreds of $, the alternator was replaced about 2 years ago, the drivers side window kept going off track & finally it wouldn't go up or down anymore, there are a MILLION recalls on these cars (CONTACT Pontiac) I just found out after blowing a head in the engine that the engine mounts were recalled because they were never properly installed & would fall out making the engine fall. There are alot of other things with this car (you can email me). I've had this car 11 years & recommend it to anyone- my car just happenned to be getting older & naturally things start to go. The new Grand Prix's look great & I know I will definately buy 1 in the future.

Good lookin car, fast, lots of potential!

Weakness:

It has the ability to make me want to go cruisin' all the time, so I rack up the miles!!!

I LOVE IT!!! Pretty Quick, just wish it had a few less miles. Its quick, and turns heads. Could have done with out the few problems I've had, but nothing to bad, just plugs, wires, coil packs, and 1 fuel injector.
So far I've put 17" Enkei wheels, thinking of going to 18's or possibly 20's! Good thing I work at Discount Tire!! and 2 12 inch Pheonix Golds, Directed 150 and 250 amps.
Please let me know if there are any pages or catalogs or whatever, so I can maybe find something for it, looking for a ram air hood.
