Decent power Roomy good traction Smooth and comforatable

Weakness:

Not great looking No cupholders terrible system brakes Fun Factor

This car is great. It''s my first car that my Aunt gave me. Its got 94,000 miles on it and its still running great. Gas mileage is very good and its got a lot of pep for a 3.1 V6. I''m lookin to upgrade in the spring to a GTP, they''re gorgeous. I only had to replace the rotors and pads so far, so maintenance has been very cheap.

Strength:

engine, chics love the car, lots of room, looks so freakin nice, comfortable, handles pretty well, engine stays very cool (special edition has the heat vents, though).

Weakness:

hmm... rattles a lot, AC isnt the best for the driver, leather is too hard (i love soft leather).

Overall this is a pretty nice car. We got a red 2001 GT Special Editon. Looks so nice. The stock audio system is great, even though I only have the 6 speaker system. It hits so hard. Chics dig the car so much and being 17, thats a good thing! :) Naturally, there are a few things that are a pain... The air conditioning doesn''t cool me off as well as I like. I work outside in the desert in 120 degree heat all day, so that AC feels nice. Trunk is huge! I just put a subwoofer box in there and still room for about 4 bags of golf clubs! The engine is very strong. I put a K&N filtercharge with a CAI box, so it sounds twice as mean when you give it some gas, plus I got about 10 extra hp from the combination! I wish I had test drove one of the less expensive bimmer 3-series, though. They are about the same price. Ohwell.

Strength:

Loads of head and leg room & tons of cargo space. She handles well and has plenty of get up and go. The special edition styling package is gorgeous. I get great gas mileage 22-25 miles to the gallon in the city on average. Alot less when I drive aggressively. Very comfortable in the long haul, we drove 24 hours straight and no sore back!

Weakness:

They cheaped out by not offering heated seats to the passenger and oversight which they duplicated in 2002. There is a governor in the car that kicks in at 174 Kilometers and hour. I think the passenger seats could have been power as well. These are all very minor points.

I love this car. I would recommend it to anyone who wants luxury, sport and convenience all in one car. It is a powerful, comfortable and affordable car for anyone, with plenty of room for the kids and stroller.

Weakness:

Warranty, fit & finish, the engine

Overall I am not satisfied with the car. The warrant sucks, 36000 miles is not enough in todays economy. Foreign cars have much longer warranties and don''t hassle you near as much. My biggest complaint is the engine seized up with little, and I mean little, warning. Only 77000 miles, 90% highway miles. Pontiac is going to do NOTHING to help and the dealership is a joke. I will not buy another GM product & doubt if I will buy American.

Strength:

everything! runs smooth, plenty of space, nice stereo!

Weakness:

the tach quit working a couple of years ago, but not a big deal. other than that, nothing!

This is the best car my family has ever owned! We have had it for 12 years and it has over 227k on it. Once in a great while we had to take it in to replace break pads and whatnot, but the only really bad thing that ever happened was that we had to get a new engine at around 120k. I know that sounds like a big thing, but other than that, it was never in the shop - ever!! It still runs great and is the most reliable car in the world. If you''re looking for a long-lasting, reliable car - grand prix is your best bet!!

Smooth ride on smooth roads...nice sounds...good power...looks great....big with lots of room.

Weakness:

Bumpy ride on bumpy roads, rattles over bumps cuts out at 112MPH (tee hee).

I''ve had this car for a year now. I bought it second hand with 30k miles on it, and I''ve just hit 55k miles. I love this car....enough power without going overboard, really smooth ride on the highway and a really decent sound system. Handling is ok, could be better on bumpy roads, but it''s acceptable. A very nice car, and my next car will be another one of these.

Strength:

Sporty looks, "Arrest Me" Red color, turns many heads, especially the girls!!!! Lots of power for the money. Steering wheel radio controls a nice touch. Good gas mileage. Nice amount of room.

Weakness:

Suspension too stiff, rides rough on bumpy roads. No manual transmission

I''m 17 and I just got my ''99 Pontiac Grand Prix GT coupe. I bought it used and it had 30,000 miles on it. The only problem I''ve had with it is one of the wires in the radio shortened out, which made the clock on the radio flicker every once in a while, nothing the dealership couldn''t fix. It rides great on SMOOTH roads, on bumpy roads it can be a little rough. I love the powerful 3.8 L V6 engine. I wanted something to compete with my friends'' ''98 Camaro and ''00 Mustang minus the high insurance premium. This car definitly does the job, considering this car shares the exact same 3800 series engine found in V6 Camaros and Firebirds. Highly recommended to people who want a sporty yet roomy performance vehicle (Grand Prix GT and Grand Prix GTP) without the high insurance premiums.

Strength:

acceleration, handling, appearance, comfort and so far reliability. My gas mileage has averaged 21 mpg city and 30 mpg hiway

Weakness:

Alternators are expensive to replace due to riduculous location, expensive headlights

This is the 2 door gtp model. I have had this car for 3.5 years now and I have had good luck with it. It has 150,000 kms (90,000 miles) on it. Of course I broke the center consul armrest because it''s junk. The 3.4 dohc engine makes a lot of power but only in the top half of it''s rev range. The car handles incredibly well and the steering is very precise. I still prefer this body style to the new wide-track models. Perhaps that''s only because the new ones are absolutely everywhere now and are as common as a sunfire. As far as reliability goes I can''t complain. It has had an intake manifold gasket replaced, as all 3.4''s have and it just got it''s second alternator. It had a timing belt replaced at 100,000 kms, but that is it''s recommended service life. That is all the work I have ever had to do to it. I didn''t expect a car that handles this well to have such a smooth ride. Interior is roomy and the HUD is addicting Oh yeah, headlights are expensive when they burn out..

Strength:

(''97)quick, I loved driving it. Very fun car with tons of options. Heads-up display & radio controls on steering wheel were great (still getting used to not having those). Handling is wonderful. Roomy inside. Highway driving was the best - very smooth, very quick.

Weakness:

RATTLES.... don''t buy this car if you drive alot of secondary (even semi-bumpy) roads. I know, it''s a sports car & is supposed to be stiff, but... This car takes bumps HARD. After one bad winter, I had my rear struts replaced at 60K (twice actually - 2nd time the garage put in GM parts to try to get rattles to go away), had it in the shop several times & still couldn''t get rid of the rattles. I saw a few other people had the headlight cover fall off - this happened to me also & it costs almost $100 to replace the entire thing! (Can''t replace just the cover). Although I absolutely loved the car, I traded it in for something that rides better, can handle the bumps & is hopefully more reliable & will last more than 90K.

This was my second Grand Prix and I loved them both. My first started to have problems when it reached 90K (it was an ''89). My second (97 GTP)started having problems around 60K.

Buyers beware! Do not buy a 1992 resale. Nothing but problems with this car. Electrical, brakes and 3 alternators later the car sits dead once again. This ones going to the metal graveyard. Anyone interested in parts?
