Grand Prix SE 3.1 liter
Strength:
The build quality was way higher than most of the other cars I have driven. Where this car really shines in my opinion, was the handling. I have yet to drive a car that gave me as much confidence as this one did when entering a corner at h.igh speeds. I always never had to guess where the nose was going to be
Weakness:
The electrical systems. The window motors in both of our grand prixs had a tendency to give out. The car died due to an electrical short, but other than that, it was the best car I have ever driven. My favorite car besides the fact that there were major electrical issues |

Handling, power output, comfortable rides for up to five. Room for upgrades. The trunk is HUGE!
Weakness:
My particular car has a couple of problems, but it's nothing serious. I am very glad that I bought this car. It's a great daily driver and it has some power to work with. I have the V6 coupe version.

Great power... When modified right, a real head turner... Very Scapcious all around... Easy to maintain if mechanically inclined unless major problems...
Weakness:
Manufactured by GM, so who knows what problems could've arisen... First off, the transmission seal broke the day I bought the car... Few days to fix... And broke again a month later... Mechanic said that a previous owner installed a transmission cooler and the seal kept popping... So they fixed it and installed a skidplate... Problem solved... After that, the tranny would slip when I'm on the gas and turning a corner (only when warm)... Also, when up to speed, it would go into 4th gear, then slip back into 3rd, and would only accelerate when the highest RPM is re-reached*... (If I were to get of the gas, it would coast as if in neutral, and when I would get back on the gas, it would rev like neutral until the highest RPM is re-reached, then it would jerk...) Lucas worked for a while... But other than these problems, car was great and I did a few mods als... My dream car died when I was driving on the horribly dark Highway 6 in Texas on my way to Bryan... There were no lights nor street tape while I was doing 70mph... I was on the wrong side of the street when I saw some reflective tape... With the smallest jerk of the wheel, the weight shifted and the car veered to the right turning sideways in the dirt... Due to the dirt pill-up, it ended flipping over, totalling it... All 4 passengers walked away, got a rental, and continued the trip... I loved this car for it's power and looks... Now I love it for the saftey factor... I'm definately looking for another... real nice driving car, sunroof, bose sound system, 30 mpg on freeway and it looks real cool.
Weakness:
alot of chinsey plastic trim all over. real poor build quality due to all the cheap plastic. cheap delco cd skips every time i hit a bump The options are nice and this car is lots of fun on the winding country roads of michigan. The red dash lights are way to distracting to enjoy driving at night. the bose sound system sounds great however, the cd player skips whenever i hit a bump. the trim is real cheap plastic and fall apart however, its easy to fix. the heads up display just broke and the hood latch is a pane to close somtimes. when its raining or snowing and you open the trunk its like a waterfall or avalanch in the trunk.I don't like the car very much in the snow or ice. I really like the sunroof and overall looks of the car. The get up and go is pretty good for a sedan. This car is very nimble for its size. and is alot of fun just sunday driving. Grand Prix GT
Strength:
Great engine. Very comfortable on long drives. Good mileage. Killer sound system. Low maintenance.
Weakness:
Only 1 seat is heated--which is odd. Even if both turned on with 1 switch, that'd be an improvement over just 1. And that's not even a weakness--just an oddity. LOVE LOVE LOVE the car. Love the looks, engine, everything. It's a decent sized car--but at 5'6, it doesn't feel too big. I bought it in '06 with 70K on it. I wanted one for a while, finally found the one with everything I wanted--this car has all options offered except the supercharger, which I wouldn't want anyways--too costly to repair. I've not really done anything out of the ordinary as far as maintenance. At 90K the fuel pressure regulator went out while I was 600 miles from home, but only cost $200 to fix. Had to change the battery with an amp and subs put in the trunk, but that was expected--the factory stereo is awesome, so I just added to it. I also wanted to be able to use my steering wheel audio controls. I get right at 30-31 MPG on the highway--looks like a lot compared to others. I average 23.5 MPG overall--not bad considering I drive 6 miles to work. I had the brakes done at 90K also. The only odd thing I've experienced with the car is when I'm going 45 or more and am going around a curve to the right, there is some vibration in the front end that I cannot identify. Other than that, it's been perfect. This is my 4th car with the 3.8L V6. Definitely GM's best. As far as winter driving, I've never been stuck in snow. Traction control works perfectly. Good get up and go
Weakness:
Using Premium Gas
This Car is by far one of the best automoblies I have ever had the pleasure of driving. For some reason when I was younger I love grand prix's. Even though mine was used when i got it I fell in love. Leather seats, heads up display, and digital readouts make this car look first among its class. I really don't have anything bad to say about mine. We did have a problem back in March that shocked me...the Control arm that holds the back wheel drivers side on...on of the bolts just feel out and the tire almost turned sideways I have never seen this happen ever in a car but, it was pretty easy to fix. Grand Prix GTP
Strength:
- Acceleration is really surprising.
Weakness:
-Although not bad I've had better vehicles when it comes to stoping on ice. However the ABS is quite good and helps a little with this.
I've owned this car for nearly 4 years and have loved every minute of it. There have been a few repair issues such as ABS/Trac-control sensor (attached to hub assembly) and like some other people I had my blower motor go on me. Most Grand Prix also seem to have a problem with moisture collecting in the front signal lights. Thease little problems are just that nothing major and easy to deal with, The good points however are outstanding. A very Comfortable ride, nice options on the GTP, The power is surprisingly good on the V6(My buddies GT)and with the supercharger (my GTP)It can really fly. The only thing you really need to be prepared for is the fuel bill. This car rides nice and smoth because of the weight but it does use a little more fuel then others it its class. The GTP uses premium fuel only but to be perfectly honest you really dont notice that extra couple cents much and for a vehicle like this its more then worth it.(Useing premium fuel and quality synthetic oil is going to be good for the car anyway and will have other long term bennifits) I cant imagine anyone will regret the purchase of a well loded GT or a GTP.

Grand Prix GTP Limited Edition
Strength:
Fast fast fast acceleration. Smooth ride. Great "mean" appearance. Affordable
Weakness:
It takes premium gas (only GTP's do) THis car is soo hot! I get looks all the time!! I have only had two problems with it which were very minor. I had to pay 30 bucks for the ignition to get fixed and an 8 dollar plastic piece on the window to be replaced. this car makes a tight noise when i accelerate! I can beat everyone at the stoplight haha! It rides like a cloud and the interior is gorgeous. My limited edition has the dual bore exhaust and a spoiler that is larger than other grand prix's. It also has a bose system which sounds great. I love my car and I wouldn't trade it for nothing!! Similar Products Used: Chevy Cavalier |
